Aeon General Discussion / Q&A

I've had trouble with 4B,A,A going the WRONG DAMN DIRECTION.

I can't remember exactly in what situation it's happening but it happens far more often than I would like it too.

Hmmm maybe after some play tonight I'll be able to come back and report the exact situation that's causing it.

It happens during the 22_88 A,B CH.

I know this because doing that into 44BAA is my main method of ringout... when it doesn't randomly screw up. Damnit, Aeon! Behave yourself!

I still play him quite a bit simply because he's my favorite character and always will be.
I've been incorporating GI's into my game and it really pays off most of the time. GI-ing pressurizing attack strings from multiple characters is useful and plays in Aeon' s favor IMO. Ive also been spacing out a lot more instead of trying focus solely on whiff punishing. Of course I use 66A/66A+B/6A/AA/22_88A,B accordingly.
Oh! I almost forgot to mention 44A. I've started using it to either make the opponent block on CH and space OR go for the A+B+K, FLY K for damage. Sometimes I'll even be able to throw in a couple of FLY BE's off of it at the very end. This might be bad but idk it's been working for me lately. Try it out and let me know how you guys feel about it.

P.S. I hate it when 44B,A,A goes in the wrong direction when going for RO. It simply has a mind of its own. It feels like the axes are controlling Aeon when it should be vice versa Lol

The reason this is happening is because your landing CH 22AB at point blank range. Further out 22AB into 44BAA works fine. Point blank, you have to do something else.

Hello, I'm jumping into this Aeon's wagon. Aeon is fun. Any tips on how to make him good? Thanks.

Space and spam 66A and 3B like a madman. He is fairly easy to use but he can be hard to win with against experienced players. The most important thing with Aeon is spacing and keeping his unsafety in mind. Since you're a nightmare player you should be able to handle him. Just don't expect to much from him without huge efforts.

So. After hours of playing Aeon, I have come up with a strategy. Someone said he has above average guard break ability. This is VERY much true. Using this could help us! :D After they guard burst or whatever just use his most damaging combo starter and see what you can do! :D I especially love B+K and 6[K]

Hello.

So, I hear people talk bad about The Lizard all the time but they never elaborate on it other than "lol hes just bad". I'm completely ignorant of him, having never played him at all in any game, ever. What's his deal? What's his design focus? Do his tools emphasize that design? Are his arms just too small? I don't really know of any Aeon players and I have no idea what it is that makes him tick, or why. I'm completely ignorant of him and I'd like to understand him better.

The poor lizard is rather unsafe, a lot of his staples are Pyr/Oprah stab punishable.

He has easily sightable lows and less than average throw range.

He has dick for punishers unless their back is to a wall or their move leaves them right up on your scaly nuts.

He has inconsistent combos due to BT B+K not always launching/hitting like it should.

His CE has a tendency to do whatever the fuck it wants like face the wrong direction or completely miss due to walls/ring edges.

He does have a good guard damage game, though...

But despite it all I'll always be a fan of his because -HE ATE KRATOS, gained cognitive thought, and then was like, "Holy shit if I eat more people I'll be EVEN HARDER/BETTER/FASTER/STRONGER!"

Dude, he's a LIZARD.
Did you play DnD. Or watch movies?
Of course this slimy swamp-crawlers might seem menacing at first. Often they terrorize the villagers for years.
But then some real heroes arrive and poor little lizzies get stomped all over the place for loot and EXP.
Did you ever see any game or movie where Lizardman is anything but a beating bag?
Do you truly think Namco would go against the mainstream, just to make a statement?
No - they think of customers. So when you pick a guy with big sword in shiny armor you most definitely wouldnt want your ass kicked by some ambidextrous reptile who cant even speak.
So long story short - yes he's just bad. If you disagree go play Guitar Hero and leave us to our misery.

If anyone has read this yet, I was wondering if anyone had some inside information on what this patch covers? Asking on the Aeon forum probably isn't the best place to discuss, but I'm mostly curious as Aeon is my main.

As for the talk of him being "lol bad" it's simply a matter of who/what you're up against. Personally, I don't think he's amazing simply because a lot of his moves don't "automatically dodge" for him. Examples being Xiba and Leixia, Mitsurugi, etc. His "stance", if you want to call it that, is also rather bad, HOWEVER it is hit confirmable into the dive. Various other reasons on why he's bad, but I believe those two reasons make him drop the tiers.

He's still fun, has mixups, very good wall combos and a good handful of counter hit setups. Just takes time learning to win with him.

That's why mainstream in anything is absolutely terrible and not even worth arguing about. Namco plays favorites just just like a mainstream douchebag.

Namco: "Ok! We finished Aeon! Let's update the game!"

Well I had a 20+ win streak on my most recent visit to AUFO, so pardon me while I rofl at the notion that my "bottom tier" character is about to get stronger.

So if what's being conveyed second hand by people in the Patch thread is true the only things I can glean about Aeon are:

1) Damage nerf (Yeah, a NERF)
2) Possible range increase on a few moves

Let's hope that the changes to the attributes of the moves offset the damage decrease(s).
