Aeon General Discussion / Q&A

Leixia can only CE punish it and only at close range. At tip the CE can be blocked.
aPat can JFT (not likely) or CE (likely) punish it.
Raphael can 6BB punish from any range (most reliable punisher for 66A in the entire game) and CE punish it at any range other than tip.
Cervantes can CE punish it. aB whiffs by a hair.
Ivy can 4B punish it at super close range.

Other than that, pushback keeps you safe from AAs and such. 6A and 3K work as good substitutes against characters that can punish 66A.

Anyone else find it funny that NO ONE comes in here to ask for match-up/counter advice against Aeon?
I would say its because he isn't played that much online but after my most recent session of online play I fought 3 or 4 Aeon players back-to-back. Maybe people aren't afraid of him yet.

That may be. But while I hardly find any other Aeon players (NEVER found an Aeon main) seemingly Every good player knows exactly how to counter him. What's unsafe, what to duck, negating tech traps, etc.

Well aside from his fire breath and that dead trap he doesn't really have any gimmicks that people would get frustrated by.

Since I've vowed to use Cannon Pelekys more, I've run into a problem. After the back roll, I can't get Rising Revenger to connect. I always end up seemingly following right next to them in the air, and stand right next to where they land. Is it a speed thing? Or timing?

Of course I can always just blame Aeon.

It's based on the timing of the BT B+K. If it lands too late, the 8B+K will whiff. If you do BT B+K too early, the BT B+K will whiff. It's also important to keep in mind that this combo works best on opponents who are aligned with you. If you step and punish with 33B, the combo usually won't work. 33B → G → 44BAA is best in that situation.

On an unrelated note, something I've been having success with is checking if my opponents have a tendency to "monkey see, monkey do" with their attacks. When under pressure a lot of players will do the same move their opponent just did after blocking it, and you can exploit this. If you do AA and the opponent blocks it and retaliates with AA, 1B will TC any standard i11~i13 AA, and i14 pokes like Mitsu 6B8. Free CH 1Bs for forward ROs, or 1B BE for reverse ROs. If they're the kind of player who likes to mix up their AAs with BBs, you can read the BB and step for a launch punish.

Great. I have a hard enough time getting the back roll to connect under pressure.

Also, if you use a CAS that ISN'T maximum height, you can't do backroll combos.

33B>BT B+K has very lenient timing though, at least when compared to WR B. You also have to do 33B from close range, because if you do it from too far away 8B+K will whiff. What's more annoying for me is when you randomly get close 8B+K and go into SW.

And also using an Aeon CaS completely defeats the point of playing Aeon, I am in complete agreement with that. Not to mention that the timing for BT B+K is tougher with them because their hitbox is narrower.

And other SA's think THEY have character loyalty. >:D
Us lizards have to stay together!
Here, have a lizard hug.

That's how lizards fight in the real world. Good thing Aeon picked up those Axes, or we'd just be hugging people to death.

Hmmmmmm.....

So what would you guys want to see happen with Aeon in the next iteration? Same moves, new change etc...

I personally think Aeon should keep his moveset and Sand Winger but BRING BACK THE GODDAMN LIZARD CRAWL! SW could be his gimmicky stance (1 or 2 new moves wouldn't hurt -_- and crawling would... Well, still be crawling. With the improved net code I'm sure people won't complain! As much...

Oh, and buff 66A to 45 damage.

Ideas are cool, but don't turn this into a whining/begging thread. I personally despise patch wishlists/buff requests. It has destroyed a few SA's. We're walking on a thin line here.
