Algol General Discussion/Q&A

found something very cool. His BT B+K (teleport) seems to be big + frames on guard. BT A+B will stuff damn near anything after they block it. some possible setups are 66A+G and his 66B+K (in juggle)

if they tech after 66A+G they will block the BT B+K teleport and then if you do BT A+B it just stuffs all their shit. it's amazing
 
K guys...there are a ton of ways to play algol in scv im convinced...

1. Close up mix up algol
1K is a pretty strong mix up tool and your go to mid is -4 on block and knocks down...I do think this is super effective in some match ups like sieg and nightmare...6kk is super fast No idea on the frames but it tjs too.

2. Mid range aggressive zoning
You have some really nasty mid range options and great mid range step killers... 66a+b is godlike at this range...66a is good also...even at this range 66b is still amazing...You still have your lame ass backdash...1b is nice at this range as well but its super linear...

Long range turtle
I have been having a lot of success with this actually. Because of the changes to step people can no longer safely step bubbles with the threat of qi. A+B>qi a will ch them out of step in most cases and is + on block. Pretty bad on whiff though but qi is a pretty cool stance in general and its well thought out in general.


Random stuff...
11k and 77k are both great get off me lows. They space well on hit. Both otg and are quite fast. 11k even rings out.
8b+kK is clean hit lol useless dive kick.
Ce will catch quick steppers...try shooting bubbles at them... If they quick step its a free 140 damage when you are able to react to it.
Because of the changes to oki 1a is quite good for otgs as it catches rollers both waya. If they roll there will not be enough tike to stand and block.
623B re-alighns itself on gi....
 
Anyone been able to confirm to unlock Algol by just playing him online and winning without beating Story Mode and getting Player Level 12-13 etc? EU is just getting the release today... but maybe some kind player from North America would help a fellow Algol player out on XBL? :)

your right i just did some testing ( put natsu in the corner and set her to hit aa right after being hit with 11b) and it was definitely negative, must be a typo in the guide. they prolly meant -7. hmm.... looks like the got sloppy when typing his stuff up, i already had to correct 3aa on block( the book says 14 instead of -14) .
 
So is b8 completely useless? Doesn't seem to do anything special that BB doesn't already cover.

Also, is it just me or is the hitbox on BT B+K really inconsistent?

You can't unlock him by beating him online, a friend and I tested that theory last night. Didn't work, went to Quick Match, won 3 consecutive matches against random people and Algol showed up in my second search.

I managed to unlock him myself, took a while since I'm completely new to the SC universe but I followed what people had written and beat him in quick match after beating Story Mode and getting Player Level 13.

I'm also wondering is someone planning on capturing some combos for a combo guide/video/tutorial what not for Algol? I'm more of a learn by seeing the combos executed in a video rather then read combo lists though I'm very glad alot of people are contributing already with awesome combos even though I can't manage to pull everything off just yet.
 
I finally unlocked him a couple of hours ago and I've have been in training mode since. I'm really liking Algol this time around. I was worried that he wouldn't gain many new things and all his old stuff would be nerfed but he ssems like morw well rounded character. His combo potential is insane!
