I don't know. I would say use the original Amy instead, but since my sister's custom uses Amy's moveset, it does help increase her range more compared to my shorter ranged original Amy.
CAS characters are banned of any competitive setting. That means they can only exist in casual play. And in casual play, who cares about having a slightly different range/step ? At casual play level you can't make the difference.
This means your question is not relevant. Just go with what you want and keep in mind that this forum is focused on competitive play, so anybody who would have enough skill / knowledge to really feel and report about the differences... just doesn't care because CAS are out of the picture.
