[Arizona] AZ and friends!

Well, unless it looks like you'll get a strong turnout, I'm probably not going to drive all the way to Haz's tomorrow. Fucking sucks, was hoping to get some offline matches in before Evo. If anyone will be in Vegas a day or two before Evo, hit me up and we can get some matches in. The house i'm renting is only like 10 minutes from the strip, and I don't plan on doing shit cept play soul calibur for the days leading up.

I don't have any plans to hit up Haz's tomorrow. It'll be 99% Capcom players. I should be in Vegas the Thursday before Evo, but I'm not sure what time yet.

What are the driving situations like people? AilCross, Kinetic/Jowah, what are your plans? I may check with the MK twins and drive up with them, I may drive myself... not sure yet.

I've been kind of out of the loop here, playing so much VF5:FS. x_x

I'm driving up to Vegas Thursday morning, and I'm either driving up with a couple of anime FG players from AZ or I'm going alone.

Evo pools are out. There are a lot of pools that "look" free. Of course, I'm not in any of those. My pool has Something-Unique, Ivylicious and Signia. If I can make it to Something-Unique (on my side of the bracket), I'll have to go through all three of them to make it out of my pool in loser's bracket. Joy... although if I do manage to make it out of my pool, it looks like I may be able to win a couple of matches in the quarter-finals bracket.

Here's the full bracket list: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/index.html

Here are the AZ players I've found:

DrDogg: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/sc5_b27.html

Dipstick: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/sc5_d27.html
- Notable players: Mystic Bill (Natsu), Enkindu (Voldo)

Ail Cross and A rodt: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/sc5_c29.html

Munchi: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/sc5_b23.html
- Notable players: None? There are a couple of international players, but none that I recognize.

ChinNuts: http://evo2012.s3.amazonaws.com/brackets/sc5_a27.html
- Notable players: Eddy Pistons (???) - not sure how good he is at SC5, but he played regularly with JOP who's supposed to be very good.

Notable players: RTD (Mitsu, Natsu, Leixia)

And of course, Soul Calibur is on friday. And of course, my pool is at 8am. Fuck that shit. Although, having a pool with Adrian should be cool, considering he's one of the people I've been friends with for the last 13 years of playing competitive Tekken.

If last year was any indicator, a lot of people going to miss their 8am pools because they oversleep, or because they got friday flights that get in after their pools start.

It looks like some of the brackets will be changing. According to Ponder, not all of the seeding points were distributed properly, so some players will have to be reseeded. The entire bracket is not being redone though.

And here are the updated brackets...

I think I can give some info on how to fight some of these players.

LP: He delays Viola's 44A BE nearly EVERY time, which makes it interruptable. Also, I'm not sure how well he is at hit confirming it. I'm pretty sure he always either commits to using BE or doesn't. Sidestep or GI the third attack in the BE string. Also, he will use SET BB, sidestep, then 3B instead of just BBB. 3B is -14 frames, make sure to punish it.

Enkindu: He plays very similarily to the AZ Voldo player (His XBL is Nadaez, idk his 8wayrun name). When he is BT and at disadvantage, he usually uses the auto GI. I recommend predicting this, and duck punishing it, because it is high. He is very good at predicting grabs while BT, so watch out. Also, he will sometimes use a grab while grounded, which will avoid verticals because of Voldo's stance. Duck punish if you see it coming.

Woahhzz: Usually uses Apat. He will use 33B (I believe) A LOT. It is only -11 on guard if the frame data is correct, so remember that. It will also kill backstep. Try to step this to his right side. He will RARELY mess up his JFs. Familiarize yourself with Apat's command grabs, as they can do massive damage. He will usually do the one with the combo that needs a BE.

RTD: is really good.

Anyone have any advice on how to fight RyuJin? I don't think I've ever seen him play (postpatch)

Looking at the pools. Unless there are some surprise talents in there, everyone should be able to make it out of their bracket with the possible exception of Tevin and Arodt.

Tevin: You have Belial first round. You can beat his ZWEI, but play me on Saturday so I can go over some things with you. He has way more confidence in ZWEI than I do, so you need to make him understand ZWEI is low tier. You should also play against Hippo as much as you can on Saturday to prepare for his Mitsu in case he switches. He should lead off with ZWEI though. You can also check the ZWEI video thread to find some of his matches. Nothing out of the ordinary though... it's ZWEI. Play against Chase in case to face Malek.

Scott: You should check in with Jimmy to see if he can get some games in when he arrives in Vegas. If he's been practicing, his Nightmare should be on par with Animefreak's Nightmare.

Chase: RyuJin is my friend. If you want, we can play games on Thursday night, but I don't know if you want to do that. No matter how things go, I expect you and RyuJin to make it out of that pool.

I think you're underestimating some people in these pools.

Woahhzz, Enkindu, RTD and Ivylicious are all really really strong players.

Confidence is a great thing. By all means, have it. But don't underestimate these guys.

Also note - Manta is in Ail Cross' pool as well. Manta's a pretty good Voldo player.

And Jowuh -

Don't underestimate Drake Aldan either. From what I've played with him online, he's shaping up to be pretty good in SCV.

Top 2 make it out of pools. Several AZ players only have one heavy-hitter in their pool, which is why I think most of them can make it out.

I mentioned Manta in my above post, and I also mentioned Tevin has the hardest pool.

Ivylicious was really good in past SC games, but I haven't heard anything about him in SC5. Is he still playing? If he is still playing and he's using Ivy, I would be surprised if Chase isn't on his level. If I'm going to fight a heavy-hitter, I'd much rather it be one who uses a character I have a lot of experience against.

I also have a slight advantage in that most of the people at Evo have not faced a solid ZWEI. It won't win me the tournament, but it might win me 2 matches in a set.

I realize - but most people have two.

Dipstick has Enkindu, Raphire (who is pretty decent from what I've seen).

Chinnuts has Animefreak and Revin122 (Saw him play at DEV 2012. He was shaping up, and was definitely a sleeper. Wouldn't be surprised if he's good in V)

Jowuh has RTD and Drake Aldan (Another name that's not huge, but he's solid.)

Oh, and you forgot to mention, Kinetic's pool has Keev in it. :P

Lulz. Belial posted first. Just mention that I routinely check all the forums of interest to me so these weren't clandestine ops being conducted. If you don't want people viewing your strats, you could always use the conversation thing and just add all the AZ people.

Other than that, I won't say much about your observation other than there's a reason I do everything I do. As for the hit-confirming - I hit confirmed with Sets in SC4. Still, I won't comment on how good or bad I think the advice is.
