I'm not just talking about equipment. Faces, hairstyles, voices, weapons, and other items are taken into consideration.

Special equipment, stickers, and patterns easily make SC5 Creation mode the most powerful in the series. The selection of faces, hair, voices, and weapons does start to feel limited after a while, but what you can do with the design everywhere else makes up for it, IMO. Part incompatibilities suck, too, but you can still make something cool, if you're creative enough. The DLC items make a world of difference in making awesome CaS, but I would've liked 1) to see more of them, 2) to have some of them broken down into separate items, 3) to have more than just clothing and special equipment (e.g. weapon DLC).

I voted for SCV, I believe that it is the best in the series. It is a shame that from SCIII to SCV there were so many great pieces that didn't survive the transition or get put in. It would have been nice to have had the rest of the SCV DLC.

Anyway, I'd need a sizeable list but I notably liked the Dragon Gauntlets in SCIII, the Night Butterfly set in SCIV, and the Nightgown in Broken Destiny.

You know it's very hard to say.

You see, I loved Soul Calibur 3's CAS in terms of the clothing. Seriously, they had a ton and there weren't many clipping options. I also liked the Geisha, Medium Straight, and Medium length hairstyles (wish they brought those back).

Soul Calibur IV had some nice items but the clipping and conflicting issue was horrible. Some of my favorite clothing sets were the Night butterfly (Amy, especially those boots), Belle (Ivy 2p, those boots), Duelist (Raphael = those boots and pants), and Maxi's 1p. Honestly, a lot of their pieces from the characters, you could use and come up with awesome outfits but the conflicting was a pain.

Soul Calibur V was good in the sense that they let you customize eyebrows (hopefully, eyes and hair are next), the sticker and pattern feature, and some of the outfits. I really wish they finished giving out the DLC, I really wanted to use Hilde's armor, Viola's Gypsy look, and Maxi's 1p outfit (those pants!) but alas, they never released them. However, some clipping was pretty bad but not as bad as IV. I'm still pretty annoyed that you couldn't wear stocking with heels without the stocking cutting halfway at the ankle. I hope they fix this... But another positive was the voice modifier and being able to take a snapshot for your character.

I'd group it like this. SCV, SCIII, SCIV. Hopefully, SCVI will have an even better CAS.

Can we all take a moment to remember that Ivy's P1 outfit from SCIV was available for CaS in Broken Destiny?
Unfortunately, I didn't have a PSP at the time but my brother did and he let me try Broken Destiny and I just didn't like how downgraded it felt. The coloring was just not that good. Yes, I know it's a handheld but I think they should have just made the 1p outfits DLC. I would have paid for some of them. Though with Ivy, I personally didn't care for the 1p look and I couldn't see myself using it for my CAS but that's just me. ^^;

Went back to 4 yesterday and I have to admit it seems like it had more pieces...
Going back to 5 I was a bit disappointed.. Needs more dlc :P

SCIII had a lot of crudely generic armour pieces but granted, it was just an introduction though it did have the best hair styles, and best faces with variety and quantity. SCIV and SCV just lacked everything in that area. Of all places to put in original content for CAS, it should be the hair.

A lot of the ones in the dresses area.. Can't name them for the life of me.. =/=
Dresses... Hmm.. Well, there was Hilde's awesome Princess dress (it was the full body one with an opening for the leg) I really liked that one myself. They also had Amy's night butterfly dress (the one with the fur and short ruffle skirt)

I'll agree hear, while the simple clothes looked okay, the armor left a lot to be desired but again, understandable. I'll second the hair though, a lot of them were very nice.

SCIV had a lot of good pieces. It had parts from nearly everyone's P2 costumes with some of my favorites being from Yoshimitsu, Hilde, and Cassandra. The hairstyles were nice, too. Female Voice 2 from SCIV was pretty much the voice of SCV's Young Lady with the attitude of Serious.

The best pieces to me are the ones that will actually let you freaking color and sticker them, instead of having huge areas that are completely uneditable. *cough Menghu Cuirass cough*

I have this problem with Ivy's Aristocrat outfit. The whole undergarment piece on CAS characters won't let you color the white details on the outfit and it sucks that you can't >_>

Eh, I'm torn. SCIII felt like it had the biggest variety of options for original characters, but SCV is blatantly better in every other way.

Non-colorable parts...man. Biggest issue with the Valkyrie gear in SCV for me, even past the compatibility issues. There's always that stupid strip of blue on the boots, gnawing at my very soul when I want to use them D:
