Unban Algol.
Keep bonus chars banned. Or at least softbanned. That is, if you pick one, everyone else reserves the right to say you won only because you chose said character and talk shit behind your back.
 
I'm getting the day off for this and i vote to keep them all banned, cause i'm that guy. I have no reason, i just wanna see my name away from everyone elses.
 
I don't believe you guys are seriously considering unbanning a character that only a hand full of characters can beat. If this game is to have a prolonged life at Evo, Algol needs to stay banned. You guys do know that bubbles are like +40 on hit and he can basically make any of his moves safe because of them right?

I'm with Papy, if Algol is unbanned, I'm staying home. Peace out.

I have the utmost respect for you realyst, but is that what you have read, or what you have played against?
 
Both. ???? Have you played against Algol? With comments like "Lets give him a chance" and stuff like that, it seems like no one really has. Those are the main gripes people have with the character. I don't want Tiamat coming in here jumping down my throat and I don't want to have this conversation again. You guys do what you want. I won't even vote. Just don't expect me at the tournament. Peace out.
 
This is why I recommend we unban Algol and bonus characters for the team tournament only. Lets let Algol in that sandbox and see how far people can take him. For the standard tournament lets stick with the standard rules.

I just got back into this game after only having the occasional convo with Tocool or Idle about the happenings and the state of SC4. What you just said is IMO what most of the guys in this thread were looking for, exact reasons for why Algol is/was banned. From what I have heard/read, Algol was banned very early and a lot of people never really understood or got to see what he could do that was the cause of the banning.

You and others have seen in action and have full proof for why Algol should stay banned. The SC community seems to have a lot more casuals and people that are new to the tourney scene than Tekken ever had. Maybe thats me generalizing, but its the vibe i get from wandering these forums. I know the fact that its a console game helps to push it towards casual players, but they also seem to have a stronger voice due to numbers. When someone asks, Why was Algol banned? You get simple answers like, "bubbles", "cheesy", etc. Not hard facts or strategical reason for why this character can break the game. I think this is what Idle and some others have run into, they haven't ever gotten a straight answer as to if Algol was banned for good reason or people not wanting to deal with him.

just my thoughts and also me seriously voting to keep at least Algol banned, though after Realysts post i would really hope the vote would be done away with altogether.

I didn't mean to offend when I asked.

See, I hear all these stories about how broke he is, but I can't find concrete proof of it. And no, I haven't played against an Algol I considered unstoppable, and I play Taki :(.

But I do see what I feel is a lot of exaggeration about how broken he is and properties of moves.

I guess what I am trying to say is, if the majority of people want him banned, keep him banned. But he wssn't winning mass amounts of tourneys (if any) pre ban, I don't feel it was warrented (yet).
 
It's more than that.
Seeing why he's broke will take a player that can and is willing to play him the broke, boring way.

If that's necessary, I don't mind.
I always have fun playing competitive matches with all the MA players at MA tournaments,

but if it will take me being really broken with Algol to show you guys the difference between him and Hilde, so be it.
 
KDZ, as the general favorite around here; that's probably the best thing that can happen.
If its something that isn't conveyed well via words, then yes, for the love of god, show us. We'll record it and keep it as a memorial. I am also going to assume this isn't a vote for or against.
Even if the vote goes against, I would appreciate it that if you came, you showed us anyways in casuals.

For those of you who wish to boycott the tournament if he is unbanned, I'm interpreting that as a vote against.

As for whether we allow Algol in the team tournament, we'll take that vote when people get here.

Trust me though, if Algol isn't banned and everyone is using him. Don't expect to see sc4 at Evo IMO.
 
i like the idea of unbanning him on a probationary basis for the less serious team tournament, so we can see how broke he is without alienating a good portion of our community, which is never good. If he's found to be broke, then we re-instill the ban. plus, we hardly even run the team tourneys =P

I hear it. I just haven't seen the bullshit firsthand (or even videos, could I get a link of some matches where he consistently dominates?), so I wonder how much of the Algol hype is true and how much is beefed up. I personally don't think that if he were to be unbanned, the only character winning tournies would be algol, and he would be the character played by most every one.

But again, I have not experienced the shenannigans, just heard through people.

Jay, change my vote to team tourney only. Not because I believe he is broken and don't want to play against him, (I suck anyway), but because I do like seeing the people who travel at BONEs and not having them would be a shame.
 
Well, to hell with democracy then, we'll try it out for the team tournament then.
Im not looking to alienate a significant player base from these tourneys either.

On a side note; I heard that the NJ February monthly is going to unban Algol. Do you guys know if this is true?
