DEVASTATION 2K11 MMs/HYPE THREAD!

bubsy you do know that this promises to be THE LAST MAJOR FOR SC4. we've got confirmations already from all corners of the USA and even from canada. i WILL get the frenchies over here if i have to buy it my goddamn self. same goes for woahhzz.

TLDR: bubsy you need to get yo ass to phoenix in october.

basically, guys, as it stands now a couple guys are waiting on some sponsor confirmation so that they can set the pots (and they will be amazing) before they drop the official event announcement. i'm only in "the know" as much as i am because i'm doing the sc4 stuff and because they have confirmed it 100% already so that we can start building hype. bubsy, we have over 10 confirmations from a 4000 mile radius ALREADY and we haven't even gotten the announcement yet.

once we get the event pot finalized(although it will probably fluctuate upward as people pre-register) i will also be making a separate paypal account to take donations. keep in mind that DEV is big business and that huge amounts of cash are trading hands. because of this there is really no way around tax stuff so winnings have to be mailed out shortly after the event as opposed to given in cash. sorry guys, but that is how it has to be to keep it legal. the separate account will be community donations only and will be handed out 60-30-10 to the top 3 IN CASH at the event. i think we can get a pretty side pot AND a pretty event pot and make this not only the last, but the highest paying and BEST sc4 tournament ever.

we gotta go out with a bang, right? this event is gonna be HUGE HUGE HUGE.

vints I'd love to MM you but I only use algol in MMs even though maxi is my tourney main i am still best with algore
but we can do SC3 lynette vs hwang

I've been wanting a reason to go back to the west-coast. I really want to make this...

EDIT: (Shameless plug..) Any players from the South or East Coast should also look into CEO 2011. Lot's of time before DEV and SC4 is a main tourney as well. Players looking to create funds and practice in time for DEV should definitely look into making this one as well.. RTD confirmed, Miko and lots of other southern comp. is coming out

I'm not made of money dammit! I don't even know if I will haven enough to go let alone MM people, beside xeph cause I already challenged. If anyone wants to MM me I will see if I have cash on me and my max will be $5 I can go a day without food. Hey lobo what other games will be there besides SC4? cause if there are other games I might be able to get my friend to go since he wants to start playing tourney's and if he goes then I won't need a plane ticket since he will be down to drive.
 
Just wanted to chime in on this thread. In case anyone is wondering, SC4 at DEV is 100% confirmed, we just haven't opened registration yet, which is why there's no official thread yet. It will be happening as soon as registration is ready to go, but we also still have over 6 months until the event, so we're not really rushing to get the official thread up at the moment.

If there are some super hype money matches, we'll see about getting them on the stream as well. Right now SC4 is scheduled for Saturday @ 4pm, so there will be plenty of time for side tournaments or whatever else you guys want to do. As of right now, you guys will have setups all day on Saturday (probably Friday and Sunday too) so you can do whatever you like with them before and after the official tournament.

Some things we're working on, but are not confirmed:
- Talking to Namco about SC5 having some sort of presence (trailer, early build, whatever).
- On-site prizes... it depends on how things go, but we would like to hand out prizes on Sunday.
- Guaranteed money for every single tournament game.

Co sign on this. I cannot fucking wait for Devastation! I already took that week of work off and I might even take up HRD on his offer to stay at his place for a bit before the tourney and then carpool there....that is, if that offer is still on the table? Setups for Friday sounds great but I'm curious to see how you'll have setups for Sunday, especially if they transform the room like they did last time for finals. Anyhow, I can't wait!

On the site it says that Devastation will have that entire third floor for this year.

Not going to make anything official, but it looks like some of the other players from Chicago are willing to make the trek to Phoenix (and I've guaranteed to put down 250 for the trip).

Not sure if he'll be there, but I'd be more than willing to do the money match IvyFanBoy requested there.

Other than that, how are housing things looking? In other words, is anyone housing or do we have to get room somewhere? =(

Last year's tournament was fucking sick, so I can expect even more for this year. If you on the west coast, bring yo ass.

Last year DEV was only in the "A" section of the third floor. This year we're taking up that entire area, which is A, B, C and D. It comes out to be about 3-4 times the size we were last year. We also won't be doing the stadium seating for finals day. All setups will stay available so people can play during finals if they want.

We have a lot of stuff planned for this year, a lot more than I've mentioned. Just wait until the official post. It's going to be hype!
 
When is the last day to sign up?. If I make enough money during the summer to buy my bike I'll be stopping by!

You will have plenty of time since the event isn't until October and the official announcement hasn't been made yet. But if you definitely know that you are going, then you want to register early so that you save $15 on the registration fee.

You'll be able to sign-up on-site at the event, so technically that's the latest you can sign-up. But as Malice said, the earlier you sign-up, the more you save.

You can technically sign up now, if you really want to. Registration is up...
