Framework for re-establishing SC4 on a global scale!

Ok after reading a number of posts here's what i think needs to be said:

To everyone posting to Jaxel: Stop, it's CLEARLY obvious he isn't going to respond because of some vandetta he has against SU. So if your tag name doesn't begin with "something" and ends in "unique", he won't acknolwdge you.

Nori: That post is irrevalent, you beat 2 Hilde's that dont play the game often (ok...maybe 1) and played an Algol that doesn't Bubble shield you. That's not an accomplishment.

About unbanning: That idea is not necessary. Yes, i even thought about bringing that up, but what was said was right. If we did that then it goes to show why we're looked down upon because we can't make up our minds. Voting should be only directed to the following: Regional Tournament Organizers. Why? because it's fucking obvious that since they're going to host tournaments, then they should be the ones to make the rules. That idea also relates to Nori as well as a few others to having some type of "committee"

Soft Banning - That shouldn't be an option. don't make exceptions to allow the player to play the character. It's like what i've been preaching. Make a rule, make it universal. If the character is banned, she's banned. It sucks yes, but unless we start seeing balance patches, don't be stubborn and stick to that character.

Jaxel (i really should be following my advice): The reason why this thread is continuing to go is because people really want to see a revival even if it does or doesn't mean that SU said he did it. He knows good and well that it takes a COMMUNITY to revive itself, not one person. So for you to say that is utterly stupid and shouldn't have been said to begin with. Honestly, you're making it seem like you're pissed off because you didn't do this. Honestly, stick to what you're good at. Improving this website and make it user-friendly in case we do happen to obtain new players espicially for SC5.

Enkindu: Love ya bro, but those posts were a little unesscessary. Come on, i know you don't make threats like that :D

TX Players: STOP SAYING WE UNBAN THINGS FOR THE PEOPLE. That alone goes to show that we don't support the rules that the community establishes. This is what i hear
"TX makes it's own rules because we don't care about what the national ruleset. We do it for the people, if they want amy banned, we ban the bitch. If we want custom chars only, we make it happen. If we want a low tier tournament with only Rock or Talim, then dammit that's what we do!!"
Honestly i'm sick of hearing that. We have a ruleset for a reason, stick to it.

As you can see, i'm not loving anyone in this post, whether it's my people or not. The reason why i'm saying so much is because it's the truth (unless i'm proven wrong.)

*sigh*

that's all for now. Everyone let's continue to grow this community

Realest post in here for like the last thousand pages!

The tournament for The East Coast local will go down oct-nov timeframe for those that's wondering how long it will take for some action to take place. Still attempting to get some new blood which I think will happen as well.

I notice all of a sudden there is a JaxelDome tournament too :). That's good to!

Bans no longer need to be brought up either. Nothing is being tampered with regardless of the good or bad that came with it and the U.S has a unified ruleset now inside out everywhere.

Framework for tournament awareness. This is the events of importance that are focused around where the most players for this game are or have been.

NJ - Upper East Coast Neutral Zone (Per Month - Month and Half)
NEC - Upper East Coast Major

CA - Lower West Coast Neutral Zone (Per Month - Month and Half)
DEV - Lower West Coast Major

TX - Middle Neutral Zone (Per Month - Month and Half)
Unnamed - Exclusive SC4 International Event (The Big One)

ATL - Lower East Coast Neutral Zone (Per Month - Month and Half)
FR - Lower East Coast Major

There's one region missing that would another good location but I need to see where the players are most potent and its convenient aka cost effective.

Again this is just part of the framework that would make the most sense to support. If u notice above some of these majors are already well known. But the most important thing is that no one shows up. That's one of the reasons FR dropped us and ATL one of the big spots for SC died. These are the invents/locations to be aware of. The per month events can easily be started up again. People just need to be aware and initiative needs to be taken.

For those that remember this post regarding framework for majors to support. NEC11 is one of them and its right around the corner Dec 4. It's one of the few majors that we still have that was not dropped. It's also the East Coast's biggest major. But more importantly its a major that is not exclusive to SC but one of the most important. It keeps our game in the spotlight right alongside every other fighting game. Come out and support the last thing we need is another major that could potentially drop us like FR and all the others did.

Like I said to you earlier SU, we have enough tournaments for SC4 on the east coast at this time. We don't want to oversaturate ourselves with more tournaments because all we would end up doing is thin out our attendance. What we need to do is grow the game locally so that there's people to actually come out, compete, and have a great time.

You should also focus on doing what you can to re-establish scenes outside of the east coast. The east coast is already established, however there's areas that haven't done anything in a long time for Calibur. And you have to answer people's questions and concerns without being dismissive towards them which is why this thread is full of junk. The main thing people want to know is what your actual plan is.

Plus you need to have a plan to bring in new players since you're not re-establishing the game by running more tournaments with the same people. But now people are starting to take an interest in this game again, so it's really up to the locals who need to jump on that if they want to re-establish Calibur.

Lastly, we can have an intelligent discussion without the constant need to attack each other or tear each other apart. We all want the same thing. Drop the silly shit and let's move on.

Jaxel:

You have to respect the fact that I chose a different method. It's that simple. Your assuming the negative from the jump because just like u said the method is irregular or in a sense it breaks the rules and or foundations. I guess it fits me since I go about everything semi different in life. That's just me and I guess the method reflects me more than anything. But again there is positive effort being put forth here and only the really defensive about their turf are offended.

That's not my fault and the proof to back that up is some people were inspired by this and others who are also TO's already are not offended by this but welcomed it from the start. You need to think about that side as well. In life u cannot please everyone and if u played shit safe forever u won't get anywhere. I'm done sitting back and accepting the state of this game for what it is and since things are in a standstill the way they are I'm gonna take my shot at it. You don't have to accept it but u should respect the initiative.

One final note on over saturation for tournaments. That was also one of my points in this thread that I was trying to make people aware of. That's what the rough version of that post I re-quoted on this page was about. THERE ARE SOME TOURNAMENTS U NEED TO SUPPORT MORE THAN OTHERS. No one is gonna make them all and therefore u need to prioritize. NEC is a perfect example. It's unbelievably important for multiple reasons and people need to come out. This thread was to make people aware of stuff like that as well not about u making it seem like I'm taking credit for it and announcing it for no reason. This thread was meant to be informative in a number of different ways but I can accept that I might not have been super clear. But it also got bogged down by the typical.

Dino:

Your correct. I could have been more clear. Mistakes will be made its natural.

I'm trying the free tourney method myself in TX. Hopefully it works to bring in more people. I will have sponsors donate towards the pot, and the players entering themselves IF they choose. If not, that's ok also.

Wasn't gonna post in here, but it must be said.

Omar, as I told you in person. I will support as many tournaments as I am able to in PA, NJ, NY or wherever. I do believe these goals are worth pursuing regardless of what reasons you may or may not have for doing so. People have made fairly good points on both ends. But honestly, I ain't even trying to get in the middle of all that. Just take each point of progress as it comes.

The only thing I will say though, is that once this movement or whatever really starts kicking in, and results are being seen; as one of the leaders trying to get this started I would expect you to stick through it. Through thick and thin. I don't want to ever hear you, of all people, say anything about not showing up to a tournament that "doesn't have enough people/money".

I have no problems with you personally, but you have done this before. And you must keep in mind, that there will be days where tournament attendance may not be as big as everyone thought. Maybe things come up and people can't make it. Life happens. But regardless, if you have no prior plans or some reason you can't go, you should be there just like everyone else is expected to be. Not judge it based on the size of RSVPs or the size of the pot or whatever. If you really love this game, this shouldn't be too much trouble for you.

And this goes to everyone who expects this to work. Myself included. I'll go to a tournament and play regardless if grand prize gets 500$ or 50$.

If by saying this it makes me a "hater" it's whatever... I really don't care. But understand this is not a personal attack at you, Omar, but a suggestion that I hope you'll keep in mind when the time comes; regardless whether you feel like my input is worthy or not.

Why does global, which means worldwide always mean just America to an American? It's pretty inconsiderate.

You should read the thread first man. You're drawing an assumption.

Just like the rest of you are drawing assumptions. SU saw a problem with our community and took the initiative to make a thread that for the most part was to create some buzz. I really didn't expect anything from him, but I saw this as a good thing as did many others...but he is taking it upon himself to do something that really he has never done before. Generate hype and motivate people, and because he's a noob at this he has those willing to help and advise as well.

By now I would think most of you would have stopped this already, yeah we get it the guy gets under your skin. Lets move on.

Synraii - Yes, that was a little premature. However, we really don't mind if you all can make a list on the active players in your area also.

Honestly, we're placing more emphasis on the US only because we're the least active area when the thread was created. But that doesn't mean that you can't contribute.

Lobo - love the post man! That is an example of just showing love for the greater good. The community.

Jaxel - Thanks for clearing that up. But still, at least post a little more, either that pm the individual that has referenced you. That is our only request. :D

So KingAce, you think this is a good thread because in the FUTURE, it could possibly hold some ideas on how to "Build a Local SC Community"? Even though it has pretty much absolutely none of that? Well then thats even more of a reason to close this thread, as I present to you a better thread, much more construction and created by a respected member of our community.

Something-Unique has actually had many of his threads closed and deleted in the past, as they were all obvious ego-pumping threads in the online forum. Only this time he has tried to disguise it, but either way, this thread has always been about S-U.

Ok that's enough of that. Thread re-opened. Keep the discussions on topic or I'll delete your posts. Keep your personal affairs and opinions of each other out of this thread.

Keep your personal affairs and opinions of each other out of this thread.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe it's just Jaxel. Maybe it's just some of you that aren't posting (i.e. Tiamat!)...but somehow we all know that it's impossible to care solely about the topic while still aware that elitists are trying to run the show.

I guess you'll have to delete this post, Mikosu. Although, you know the same thing will be said over and over again unless bans are made, or something.

I hear you Vincent. But S-U being elitist shouldn't have any impact on the support of this thread really, though I know it's hard for people to look past. What he claims to have done shouldn't matter either. As long as his thread doesn't deviate from its intention it's fine.

at this juncture i think we can conclude that intentions and qualms aside, nothing good has come/is coming from this.

here are a couple things that i have learned from this thread...

first of all, players are interested in a list of active remaining players, separated by region. if anyone would like to make a new, not-misleading thread with that intent, more power to you and good luck getting info for a conclusive list.

second, many people are interested in investigating new ways to bring more blood, new and old alike, into the tournament scene. this is excellent, and is evidenced by people coming in here asking about local groups, by people like nori going out on a limb to try new and promising ideas like free-entry major events, and by the many people chiming in to attempt to quell the flames rising constantly from this thread. if anyone wants to make new threads inquiring about or investigating new ideas to increase community participation, more power to you and good luck finding answers and ideas that we don't currently have.

finally, i love the idea, in spite of over-saturation, of something-unique trying his hand as a TO. know that, despite all previous clues otherwise, the players are there and if we see a valid effort put forth and a promising event, we will still support the hell out of your efforts, omar. if you feel like making a tournament announcement and probing for ideas and planning for date/location/schedule and all that other fun stuff, more power to you. i really do wish you the best of luck.

as far as everything else goes...well...
