Alright... so I was playing some matchs awhile back in SConline and just happen to over hear a couple of guys talking about updates and such...

when all of a sudden I hear one of them mention a update that is SUPPOSED to be released sometime next year around spring... this is in fact a major update... and not a couple of costume pieces... if its real which I highly doubt it is...

okay so here is what they are SUPPOSED to be releasing in this major update >.<

350 NEW costume pieces and weapons
NEW characters ( dont know how many )
alternate endings for each characters story
NEW stages
and a demonic algol?(wtf...)

this caaaaant be true...although... if it is... it WOULD be glorious...
but hell.. with all that might as well make another SC right? and if this is addon.. pretty sure its gonna be about 40$ or more >.>

Im just curious has anyone else heard anything about this? and if its true or not?
 
i personally havent heard of any of this. however i dont see it as being true. new characters? and 350 pieces of new equipment? dunno sounds a little far fetched. but your right they might as well call it sc5!!
 
I was playing online in some room the other day and I heard some guys talking about an update with dark sophitia, who's repent is all glowy red and stuff, I think it's true.
 
I don't see NB closing their SC fansite and then putting all that effort into this bogusness. Might as well make a new game if you are going to do all that. One could only hope that NB would do something like that but it ain't happening.

I'm going to hope that NB does something because I don't feel like being pessimistic.

I could see this as being true before what I posted only because it would make sence because in story she was trying her best to get her grubby little fingers on soul edge...

Yeah, i thought about that while playing through her story mode. Like what if she was the new souledge host? I mean, if the sword is self-sustaining, then why did it ever need Cervantes or Seigfried in the first place. Could make sense that it needs an actual body at some point. Would be really cool, but then how would nightmare play into the whole situation. Can't get rid of him based on fan support alone.

That sounds more like an expansion pack than an update. It certainly wouldn't be free. The price tag of creating all that content would be enormous. I certainly cannot see that after nickeling and diming for all of the current DLC.

So, sadly, I have to call bogus on it.
 
Yup i do see Soul Calibur Dark Ressurection coming like in ayr and a half.

This is the tekken 5 of the soulcalibur generation if that makes any sense.They would be foolish for them to not make a dr like version of this game.

That seems to be the new thing to do shit, even Vf been doing that for yrs.

What other big games is NB bringing out?

They can use this to charge for a 20, 30 dollar DLC pack. Did you think a patch like that would be free? If they do it, it'll be to make them money.
 
that sounds nice in theory.. but really really far fetched. if for some ridiculous reason that would be true, it would probably cost as much as a new game would cost, which would suck.

well if you think about... with the prices they have now on DBDLC 2 costumes for 2.00 I think it is... 350 pieces for 60$ vs 2 pieces for 2.00 wouldnt be a bad deal... not to mention new characters stages and endings... hell id gladly pay 60$ for it >.>

i personally think the current dlc is a stitch overpriced. the items aren't that attractive for anything more than 100pts. i haven't paid for any dlc yet because i'm a cheap bastard. i'm waiting to see if it goes free (i'm hoping it does EVENTUALLY) because they are all items that are pretty lame looking that i don't NEED to have, imo. however if its a massive update i'd be more inclined to pay.... i don't see myself paying 60. mayyyybe 25. but i am cheap.
 
If they decide to do SC4 2.0 I wouldn't mind. Seems to be the way 3D fighters are going now; Tekken, VF, even SC3:AE.

A new version released in 9 months or a year, with extra customization options, a few visual tweaks, a big balance update (new moves or animations, not something you'd do with an online patch), a couple new characters (Hwang, ORLY), a couple new stages, maybe updated online play. I'd buy it at full price.
 
I think a SC4 upgrade is unavoidable.

This game, even if extremely good, feels incomplete.

There are lack of stages, the mimic character/characters and even new characters when the average has been at least 4 non boss new characters per sequel. And no, the Star Wars characters don't count.

There is no reason whatsoever to not have brought Li Long to this game when he was redesigned for AE just like Amy and Hwang.

They brought Amy back from AE with almost the same movelist, excused Hwang with story reasons for his absence but Li Long was like he dissapeared with no reasons for his absence. Strange!

But yeah, with the market for next year full of fighters, I think it will come eventually.
 
Makes sense. Tekken 6 has been delayed until the end of 2009. NB can make money by allowing a SCIV+ patch for $$$ be on the market by itself in the Spring.
