If Soul Calibur had blood . . .

lol..(sry) but 1st no!
and 2nd....stupid thread!
if ya need blood, then go play mortal kombat or some guro games -.-

i'm sorry !

and stupid thread ?

COME ON . nightmare says "BLOOD ! DARKNESS ! COME UNTO ME!" after he wins .

yet there is no blood in the vast world of soul calibur . . .

nightmare must be stupid , then .

and there are swords , blades , spears , etc. with FIGHTING !

where is ittt ?!

Here's the thing with fighting games: There doesn't have to be blood to be great... as long as the developers put the time and effort to make the gameplay playable, that is all that matters (to me at least). I used to have Mortal Kombat: Deception for the PS2 and all I can say is: Wow, what a broken, broken game.... almost all the moves of every character in the game is unsafe, even the low punches. Grabs cannot be broken, another stupid feature. And to top it off, you can spam proctiles, although that it is kinda unfair just to target this game franchise coughstreetfighterseriescoughcough. A bunch of fatalities and blood/gore can only go so far when it becomes dull and frustrating when the gameplay mechanics are bullshit... rant over.

so the general consenus would be a general "no" to answer your question TC.
these people clearly don't believe it would be awesome. they believe quite the opposite.

i say stand alone on your boat with your head held high!!! wave your flag and stand by
your statements!!!

be proud that you think it would be awesome.

hmm? where do i stand you ask? i simply play. its the same game with or without blood
but then again... people are bitching about NG2sigma being less bloody so i don't know.
maybe its not the same game....

personally i don't care either way. as long as its fun. yup. that's where i stand. and guess what?
Soul calibur stopped being fun after 2. the game turned to crap. now it's trying to return to its
former glory but crap is crap. better to scrap it entirely and just start anew.

but do people listen? no. because they continually try to fix crap. but at the end of the day, fixing crap is futile because it's always going to be crap.

now you have online whores and all sorts of dumbasses proclaiming fun and good times to be had but
i don't see it. all i see is crap.

Amanda seconded both points.

No.

Stupid idea.

You make a game bloody, the focus tends to shift to the gore itself and in what creative ways you can showcase that gore. Not exactly a healthy direction for a fighting series. I will say though that I can see what you're thinking. they are cutting and stabbing each other right? Is it entirely healthy to give youth the idea that you can shove a spear into somebody and they'll just get back up? At the same time, we're not here to focus on that aspect of combat.

yep(thx ghengis ^^) and as i said if sc had blood...what ya think how much hentai guro nerdw we have here in the forum then???...lol...alone the idea is ....omg no >.< i dont wanna see cassandras head choped or sophi split in half...oh god no =/(i think i said to much god -.-)

Blood in Soul Calibur?
Example:
Mitsurugi Vs. Maxi
Mitsurugi does 1A on Maxi.
Maxi's legs are cut off.
The fight is over.

Not to be rude, is this what you want?
If it were me, I wouldn't want my younger cousins to see this.
Because my sweet little cousins like to see a silly Yoshi. Not a "headless" silly Yoshi.

I wouldn't mind see a tiny bit of blood in the game, like in addition to when your armour gets broken off you see scratches and a little bit of blood on the character. I think that would work well, nothing more than that though, Siegfrieds critical finish anyone?

I don't care one way or the other about blood, although animated blood seems to be unrealistic except in the case of Ninja Gaiden II where the bad dudes really are losing limbs. It detracts from the 'art' in most fighting games, IMO.

That being said, I would rather see blood during the critical finish clips than feathers. Why do feathers come out of a defeated, fallen, and broken foe? Blood would be better here, but only for the critical finish because at that point the fight IS OVER :)

I don't see anything wrong with blood if it's done well and doesn't change the mechanics of the game. Little spurts of blood here and there would be cool. I also agree CF's would be much better with blood. Even then, it doesn't HAVE to be Mortal Kombat style gore.

Bushido blade,
Samurai Showdown,
Time splitters (or whatever that fighting game with characters across time/galaxy where you could lop off limbs) TIME KILLERS!
primal rage
street fighter 2 (end match pictures) and the various iterations

all would like to have a word with you. especially Bushido Blade. something like one slash kills can definitely up your game strategy. and throw away noobs and scrubs. which this game desperately needs to do.

the way i see it, if it's tastefully done, it can be a proper addition. they already added battle damage to clothing so seeing a few if not slight cuts/bruises mar the skin of your character isn't too far off. but if you're thinking that just because there is gore/blood there would be an added sense of realism, be for real. that shit would be seen as real as ninja gaiden 2.

but i'm down either or. Soul calibur is still crap. so... whatever.

but yeah.. where blood would definitely enchance the game though would be during critical finishes... some just feel less impactful since they're essentially Killing them... adding the blood and lopping off the limbs might just be whats needed here to give that "final" Impact.... that umph...
