I'm having bad dreams!

PSN-iiDRiiS

[10] Knight
So i'm considering taking NM up to my secondary replacing Ivy, but I need people to train w/ so if you're on the PSN and are GOOD (DeathInMyEyes) w/ NM I would like if you helped me learn him!

Any tips are appreciated!

Oh, btw does he have any frame traps because a:ga is +8 on GRD so I thought he might have some!

Wrong a:g:A is +1-3 on block, a:G+A is +8 on block :( i nearly quit Nightmare when i found that out lol. But yeah i would play with you on PSn but i have yet to attempt to adjustto the controller lol, you gotta have morbidly obese thumbs to input 33 etc... but i have no trouble doing iCS -_-.

But yes i would just look up some people who has posted in the Nightmare forum, im sure every single one of them are willing to help ^_^.

No.

Kk, yeah!

Okay here is the lowdown, seeing as i am used to the xbox's controller with the 8 direction system, i have trouble inputting 1, 3, 7 and 9's yet i have no trouble iCs'ing -_-. I just need to find a good way of pressing both 2 and 6 at the same time lol, its just.. irritating to say the least. I'll give you an example of how i havent adjusted to it yet:

66B, 33B... i fail that lol, i cant even buffer 33B because my thumbs are the size of some sumo's fatfolds.

Well my problem is yeah, maybe i should like work out my thumbs, get a sic pack on them, im pretty sure then i will be able to input 1's and stuff lol, but yeah my main problem is just being so used to the xbox controller,
but im gonna have to move to PSN for this month as im going to SVB 20-X!

Although i respect anyone who can use the PS3 controller, my hat off to you good sirs and women!

just practice, I'm amazed you can use the Xbox controller. *steals tademasu's hat*

LMAO, your guides are very helpful thanks!

Does NM have any frame traps!?

Depends on your definition of frametrap. Generally speaking things like
CH1K > FC K/WR K/WR B/66K6
WR K hit > 1K/4KK/11K
1[A]6 blocked > GS
1[A] blocked > 11K

are good for interrupting enemy attacks

Well if his stance transitions are defined as frame traps, then yeah he has quite a few lol:
a - NSSK
NSS[A] - NSSK
Oh and his Soul Charge 3 into what ever lol, its like +22 on block, insane :P.

But thats all i can really think of >.>... i think.....

On Grd:
Soul Charge NSS A+B-> 6K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ 1K/ A+B~(IMP's H & M attacks dealing 19dmg or less, risky)
Soul Charge NSS b:A--> Throw/ 11K/ aB/ a:g:A/ 4K/ 66K
Soul Charge 3-----> NSS A+B/ NSS b:A
Soul Charge 3B-------> 6K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ 1K/ A+B
Soul Charge 66B------> a:g:A/ 6A/ A/ Backstep
[A]------------------> NSS K/ NSS A+B/ NSS b:A
aGA------------------> 6K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ A+B/ 1K
a:g:A----------------> 6K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ A+B/ 1K/ 3K
a:G+A---------------> Throw/ 33B/ 11K/ A/ 6B:B
aB-------------------> 6K/ 1K/ a:g:A/ A+B (risky here)
a-----------------> NSS K/ NSS A+B/ NSS b:A
1[A]6----------------> GS B (unsafe)
1[A]-----------------> Throw/ 3K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ 4K
4A-------------------> 3K/ 1K/ 6K/ 66K/ a:g:A/ aB
BT A-----------------> 6K/ 1K/ A+B
1-----------------> NSS K/ NSS A+B/ NSS b:A
WR ---------------> NSS K (more effective against slower characters)
66B~(mid~far range)-> Backstep
22*88K6-------------> GS A (If you dont go into GS 22*88K is safe unlike 33B)
NSS [A]~(close range)> NSS K/ NSS b:A/ 236~GS A+B~(not sure but hey it might work, IMP's H & M attacks dealing 14~15dmg or less)
NSS [A]~(far range)--> NSS A/ NSS B/ GS A/ GS A+B
^Thats it for guard traps I think...

When you punish with Nightmare try punishing with K against -14~-15 attacks that you guard, it gives you +2...
Or you could use the opponent's disadvantage and treat it like you get +14 instead...
Nightmare is really about spacing * range n' all that sort of deal so try to stay at mid range if you can except near walls...

My advice is to use as much 236K as possible. NEVER do the second kick.

Yeah...its such a good move on block.

dude...fuckin horrible strategy. 236K only?...& NEVER follow w/a 2nd kick EVER? not even for spacing (on block) or a possible ring out??...really??.....like ur bein serious??

the second K is easy to duck on reaction. You'll get punished hard by anyone good.

i didnt clarify enough...yes, i do realize your point. what i meant is a good nighty player should use a mix between the 2. always doing the Grim Stride with only 1 kick isn't too smart (& a lil predictable). nightmare players should do a mix between 1 kick & 2 kicks. he is a risky character so people should try & gamble smart with him. :sc2nm1:

Why do that ? All you do is duck after you block the first, then even if you dont throw the second your still going to get punished... Theres no mix up there... Outside of combos or for pick up trys for the ring out that move is shit...

ehh...thats your opinion & your entitled to it. i guess i play a risky NM then because sometimes out of the blue (at neutral), i will do a random GSKK just to fuck with people's minds (even in the center of the ring). but don't get me wrong, its' not like i do it all the time or use it as my only GS option. in my opinion, i still feel that its 1 of his decent moves for mind games/staying in your oppenent's face. :sc2nm1:
