Improving SOULCALIBUR's STORY mode!

Honestly, I liked the way that they had the story mode in soul blade and soul calibur three. I feel like each little character should have a really long and extensive stormode like in soul blade, they should just replace the reading with a brief movie. They somewhat had the movie thing in soul calibur three, but there was still a lot of reading. Going a little off topic, They also need to bring back the shop mode and somethig like chronicles of the sword or weapon master mode because that little tower of souls crap was not cracking. Also, i would love to see little modes like the soul arena from soul calibur three or timeattack modes and team battle too! Also a little more off the topic, they need to bring back the whole character/stage profile with the voice and the ending and all that good stuff.
 
A progressive story like MK9 would be more engaging and entertaining. As the players have to invest more to see the ending.
 
They need to do a very few simple things to improve storytelling for SC.

First. Invent an adventure mode of some sort. Or re-invent chronicles of the sword.

Second. Rather than locking out Custom chars or creating some separate mode for created chars. Blend the created soul story into the main line, based on their alignment.(Good starting as a seeker of soul calibur and Evil starting as a servant of soul edge.)

For example an evil Created soul story could go something like starting with a battle where you display some skill and a desire for power thus getting you noticed(presumably by tira),next fight is a test setup by tira herself, and then progress into eliminating threats to the Soul Edge, then the other guardians as you decide to claim the sword for yourself(Or maybe nightmare decides he doesn't need guardians anymore once you eliminate enough threats and starts devouring his guardians forcing you to fight.Cept you're still not done, No no there's still those do gooders out there trying to destroy the sword....but it's yours now. Obviously you're not going to let that happen right? Final battle! String of back to back battles where you have the destructive powers of Soul Edge.

While a Good character could start out as a knight or Mercenary of some sort. encounter a tainted person as their first battle, thus making them aware of the evil blade. Perhaps followed by an ecounter with another good character who reveals information to them about the swords, then dealing with the guardians of soul edge, somewhere in there insert a betrayl, then the hunt for soul calibur(Since you don't have it you obviously have to go get it), fighting whoever has the calibur at that time to get it,then Final battle The guardians of soul edge(again!) and finally nightmare himself. But at least you have Soul Calibur's healing powers to help you out.

While other characters follow a similar format of seeking out a sword, finding it, and beating down anyone in their way of obtaining it.
 
All these ideas are Great ! And I do think there should be One story Line And Each character should play a role in the big picture, but not each one should have to fight the boss... Just certain ones. And for others their boss would be another character that really completes the end of their story..

I just want to see flashier fighting choreography, like Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon style! (During these cut scenes, and lots of Bullet time effects)
 
Another thing I like about MK9 is the animations after a round ends: if the winner is close to the downed opponent he will walk away, if he is far when the round ends he will do another action. I think these could add more personality to the characters.
 
I like that MK9 didnt put a loading screen right before you fight someone but the cutscene shifted to gameplay instantly after the cutscene.

If characters are defeated in a fight then they should get off the ground before they talk to you in the cutscene.
 
SC4's story was awful, worst for any fighter I have played that specifically has one.
They need more visual explaination of the story and the prologue needs to be voiced. I never read the long paragraphs. Or they should go with an audio narrated prologue in an old story book style with illistrations showing what happened in recap.
(like Tekken but an older style, almost like those fairy tale books that have a ribbon and rope, and an old guy speaks to you in rhyme) for each character's history, then after eaxh fight the narrator tells you what the character decieded to do before each fight.

A problem that lasted throughout all SC's was the fact that there were no transitioning stages to fully show an adventure. If they say this character came from a village or town, their fiirst fight should be on a fork road on the edge of a anonomous town in distance to show that they are leaving.

Another thing that Sc is missing is that why are there never any people watching them fight or anything happening in a stage. If Nightmare just cleared a village of souls or you encounter him then there should be people running away and screaming.

Nightmare: (Turns around like in SC3 and speaks to you)"I sense the madness within the abyss filtering your conscience... It is far greater fathomage then those who are too deplorably weak to satisfly my hunger for souls... these meager mortals only serve to anger me the more they waste my time.... If you wish to avenge these cowardly fools then show me what lies within the roots of your might..." Which would explain why he isn't attacking the people who would be running away behind him because you stand out.

You got some good ideas bro. I think they should make a online co-op story mode so more people can interact with the story at the same time. They should also make the story very very long and alot more difficult.
 
Agreed to both comments above, i understand that fighting games don't need to have the most plausible story line, but anything would be better compered to what SC has done before! And my main request is to use the fact that this is a 3D game with characters that have amazing animation, why aren't some of these amazing moves beaning shown in story mode ? And in a dramatic fashion, again like Bullet time and other cool effects that the SC team can easily do (Seeing how this is a 3D game)

Make it longer. I liked the style of MK9's story mode; it gave you a taster of everyone. Not sure if many people are gonna agree with me though XD
 
My only problem currently is the character history isn't voiced like it is in tekken. I dont read all that stuff. It should be voiced by an old man and illistrated like in the endings for guest characters.

I also hate how the stormodes aren't canon until the next game. I hate the "What if this character beat the final boss" crap. There should be 1 story, the characters outside the main ones should contribute to events.

Like in Budokai 3. You use all good the characters (and broly) to fight all the battles that character fought in their contribution to the main story plot rather then fight random people just for your ending to be "plausable" and not canon.
 
Things to change.

*Bring back story modes with choices! In SCIII you would decide what routes your characters would take and meet different people based on what you'd chosen.

*No neglecting character relationships. One of the biggest issues I had with SCIV was when in story mode your character of choice would face their main antagonist. (Like when Ivy fights Cervantes.) I wanted some dialog, some something but besides opening battle lines there was nothing. :( I especially hated that you fought Cervantes in the first round. It seemed to make him insignificant.

*More rewards for completing story mode, especially if you complete the whole thing in perfects. Also I think more "hidden" catch phrases should be placed in the game and you are only able to "unlock" them by making certain choices in Story mode. (that is if they make story mode like it was in SCIV.)

*Also for the love of God never put in guest characters like the Star Wars characters into the story again.

Actual cutscenes showing transitions to characters leaving you, joining you and dying need to be shown, like MK9.

Actual dialogue about the situation should be voiced and shown through character emotion.

Characters speaking to each during battle should be done too just for storymode destiny battles and final bosses.
(like in DBZ Tenkaichi 3 / Raging blast 2) With those little captions and characters talking.
 
Gotta agree that the story telling single player campaign from MK9 would be a pretty good way to tell the story for SCV. Hell even as an added bonus in the gallery, just a narration of the past games would be good to bring new players up to speed. I thought MK9 was good for being able to tell one continuous story which kept you engaged and got you to experience a good variety of characters.
