Improving SOULCALIBUR's STORY mode!

Not to mention I found myself wondering, "Okay, what was that all about? "

I hope they don't make the story totally linear and or arcade-like. SC4's was terribly boring. SC3's was good because there were hidden things to find, hidden characters to fight, like charade, revenants, unkown souls, Olcadon, Night terror. etc
A diverse rooting to simulate a journey is the best route. Narrated storytelling because I sure as hell dont read the text, a storybook opening and closing for the characters like in SC3 to really make a fairytale... but one thing that would help alot is.... transitional illistrations showing what you do when you meet people or what you do after fights.

The best thing they can do is take a chapter from tekken, but expand. Use a narrative monologue after each fight to tell the story rather then pure fax machine sheets of writing. Then use cinematics for the main villains like what they did with SC3's Zasalamel, Abyss,and destiny battles.

If you really are travelling then they should show it rather then tell you you are.

Also, there must be an ominous suboss more powerful then the main one, that you fight under certain conditions like Night terror. Adds replay value to find the beast. (below)

I almost forgot, they should bring back:
"PREPARE TO DEFEND YOURSELF" and the "Stop" or "hurry ahead" options in the storymode. It gives more choice to the way you want to accelerate.
 
I'd like a mix of SCIII story mode/Weapon/Edge Master mode and Mortal Kombat -- You go to the map, travel, read the story as it prgresses but with the elements of MK story: You change character when the narrative demands it, see good cutscenes, and see how the story resolves without having to go the "30 endings, one canon after 2-3 years" route.

That doesn't mean Arcade can't have a little cutscene like in SCII for Destiny Battles and personal endings, of course.
 
isn't Cyberconnect 2 taking over the story for SCV? or have they cut them off?
I think anyone really could have come up with a better story than the utter clutter fuck of thought that was put into IV... I would like the endings to be different for each character like how they handle D.O.A. and Tekken's and not just the 'we defeated the boss and have to destroy the weapon' ending which seemed the populace approval for IV...
I can't complain though since I pre-ordered it and I'm still going to love it either way...

The endings should so what characters do after the sword is gone rather then "what if _______ beat the final boss?" just to find out its noncanon and a waste of my time and the author's time. The 2 swords should have more of an impact on the story besides Nightmare and Seigfried, I think Soul edge should speak more and posses more lesser creatures like Lizardman puppets to gather souls. Despite it being the driving plot device, the sword itself hardly does anything. I miss the days in SC2 where every character had one and it took health for power.

I generally want a Darker theme for the series as it progresses. I wonder what Natsu's demon does to influence the story. I hope shes not a complete naruto rip off where she calls on him/her for extra power... oh wait?

CyberConnect2 is throwing a hand to Project Soul on Story Mode cutscenes and a few things more on the mode, but I believe the Story mode (as in design, plot and whatever) is basically done by Project Soul.
 
IDK about you guys but i would like to see what is going on in the story VS reading it. Also, a little off topic but still relevant, i want to see movie graphics. Yea that graphics were good on SC4, but i still wanted to see the movie graphics. Back to the story mode, it appears that most of us like the way the third game was and i have to agree. It was very interactive and interesting. There was a bit of a mystery and just a couple of movie scenes ( Some Zasalamel and Tira Scenes) i also like the way that we had to press buttons to avoid things. That kept you engaged. Also, the chronicles of the sword was cool, but i think if they were to bring something like that back, i would want to see it differently. Once again, TAKE OUT SOME OF THE READING i mean sheesh i read so much that summer. I think if they replaced like 80% of the text with a movie clip that has WONDERFUL MAGIC MOVIE GRAPHICS, the game play would be perfect. I also want to see some of the modes come back like time attack and team battle. I also like how in the third game they separated the story mode and the arcade type mode, that was sweet.

The solution lies where I said above, narrate it with story-like illistrations as Tekken does.
 
SC3's story mode- The only thing I didn't like was that every character had to fight Zasa and watch that cut scene and at the end when we had to fight a character, then Nightmare or Sieggy, then Abyss. Almost every characters should be different.
No, then it makes their roles even more irrelevant.

lol anyway, I hope they'll tie the characters stories together instead of sticking to a linear fashion where char A defeats opponent starfish, discovers news about some place, travel to said place, fights opponent goldfish, etc until they reach their goal. That's basically SC4 kind of.
I enjoyed sc3 since Ivy and Kilik story involved zasalamel defeating them, kilik interfered with raphael's plan, yun-seong met talim, xianghua and kilik got reunited sort of..., zasalamel revived nighty and let him become a spirit that inhabits armour, etc, etc. The story should tie in together like this! And I vote for more movie cut scenes that last longer than two minutes.
