Kilik v1.03 Patch Changes

Congrats Kilik player! In their newest patch, Namco saw fit to make our beloved stick fighting hero better, amidst the oceans of nerfs they poured into this game.

For those unaware:

Old Asura Dance GI: All horizontals.
New Asura Dance GI's: All non-kick mids. GI window is slightly smaller (on testing i really didnt notice this much)

I personally view this as a HUGE buff for this move.

I feel the same way. We don't need the asura to GI lows seeing as it jumps over most of them anyway with good timing. I was upset about the high horizontals at first seeing as it used it to get out of a few sticky spots but after a bit of testing I like the new way it works.

I've been pretty lazy this weekend so I have not done much testing. I would have liked to have used it during the Ann arbor tournament this weekend but the guy didnt download the patch >_<.

Patch Changes

Does anyone know if he still whiffs MO A against Maxi? Or did that get fixed?

What about the tracking on Asura? I'm testing it now and it seems to have lost it's super turn around and follow you around the fucking earth tracking. I'm able to sidestep it to both sides at various ranges (testing off blocked B currently) and even 8 way run it to both sides at long range. Am I missing something?

if you mean the 1.03 patch, the second hit of Asura Track even at back of him, so i don't how you can step it, can you make a video ?

I can't, I'll see if I can maybe get Jaxel to test it and make one. I was trying a bunch of stuff last night, and he didn't turn around to follow me, he just kept dancing past me like an asshole. Maybe it's something weird with training mode, I dunno. Or maybe he just didn't want to chase down Cervy cuz he's a badass lololol.

Although I tested Lizardman as well, he still can hit him out of crawl if he tries to go under, but Lizardman can step to both sides as well, same result he just keeps on dancing in a straight line. So either my Xbox is somehow magically anti-Asura, or someone is missing something.

OK some more things for curious Kiliks or antiKiliks to test.

The 2nd hit can be stepped to your left, Kilik's right. This is probably somewhat character specific, and the timing is tight. However unlike the 3rd hit of Asura, the 2nd isn't delayable. I didn't test to see if a delayed 3rd hit would turn around and track, but normal asura did not.

Mitsu had a harder time stepping than Cass/Cervy. This should be obvious though. It wasn't a case where Kilik was like "oh shit it's Mitsu!" and decided to turn and follow him like we've seen from Asura in the past, he just has crappy step and got hit by the side of it a bunch. Still possible though, just harder.

Crow had mentioned that he's seen it happen both ways, sometimes Kilik will come after you, sometimes he won't. I had a hard time getting him to turn around in a way that he would hit me out of my step in practice, though.

Give it a try off different moves, blocked and hit, and various ranges, see if you can come up with some more on this.

You can not delay Asura, neither 2nd or 3rd hit.

Well Asura is not used for anti-steping purpose, but it can be good to punish then if you react quiclky.

The second hit of Asura can't be hit confirmed so Kilik player have to at least do the 2 hit, so you use an auto-gi (Asura himself).

I will test it.

What's cool is if you do the B+K facing forward but somehow your opponent gets behind you afterwards, then the next two hits will become the back-turned version. There's no tactical difference, but just knowing it does that is awesome.

So maybe that's what it's doing? If you step in too deep and wind up behind him he turns to track with the BT version, but not if you wind up to the side of him for the 2nd hit? I noticed the animation changing sometimes to the BT version like you said, but it didn't always hit me, depended on how close I was and what I tried to attack with (which also affects how close you are, lol)
