I personally approve Xianghua's successor. She is fucking kawaiii.

Her haircut is kind of cliché, but still is cute as hell. I don't know her at all, but I already prefer she to her mother.

PD: Xian didn't change too much in 17 years...or may be this is an "old picture" when the daughter was 10 years or so
 
Are we SURE this is a character who's going to be added? I mean...okay, it's likely but not a definite "GO GO GO" thing, right?

Also, why'd she have to have a DAUGHTER? Is her fighting style too flowery for a man to inherit or something?
 
I think she looks really cute and her mother's SCII costume suits her pretty well, too...

I think she'll add a nice twist to the roster because if she's to inherent her mother's crybaby move, she'll seem like she really acts her age instead of making everyone think she's retarded :)
Unlike Amy, or Talim, who more or less represented "old souls in young bodies", it's nice to have a real "kid" on the team. However, I'm not sure yet how I feel about shoving a blade in the face of a 15y/o girl who looks like she's twelve Oo...

Well you could eat poor little Rimururu if you were playing as Kusaragedo in Samurai Shodown V Special. This certainly can't be any worse (especially since rounds in Soul Calibur end in "knockout" rather than "slashed to bits").
 
We all have our limits when it comes to VG violence. Mine are obviously higher than yours...I can't really stomach MK in the long run either.
 
My guess is that she'll be my main if Nightmare isn't to my liking in this version (which really depends on other factors). Combat wise, as long as she keeps up X's feints (or at least something similar) I'll be happy.
 
this is what i was waiting for, and now i can sleep soundly xD
on the issue of her actual fighting, the style xianghua uses was passed through the women in her family, so i should figure the fighting style would be quite dirivitive of the original xD

I say we stop judging a character's attitude, playstyle, and whether we're going to like or hate him/her forever based on a single simple picture. Why are people so eager to jump to conclusions? God forbid a character show some kind of expression on their face that isn't "rawr ima kill yu."

On Topic: I personally like that fact that NBG is bringing in new faces, even if they look just like the old faces that they're replacing. Regardless, it adds a fresh new feel to the game which has been the goal from the beginning if I'm not mistaken. Also, the idea of having a similar play-style to Xian while losing the SXS garbage is enough for me to actually want to pick Leihua up and give her a serious chance as one of my top characters. I tried Xian, and really didn't care for hearing "Just Kidding" every 2 seconds so dumbing down the ability to cancel almost every move in her list isn't a bad idea either. Hopefully Leihua gets a more straightforward style with the frames that Xianghua brings to the table along with some of the intricacies that Kilik offers, maybe a revised Asura Dance sorta thing. Who knows, still really early to tell, but I think the only sure thing is that there is little doubt that Kilik is the father. The necklace is almost a spoiler status giveaway imo.
 
I really wanna see her artwork and some in-game material. So far, we've got nothing, but a drawing of her head.
And unfortunately, Kilik's probably the father... I wouldn't mind at all if it was someone else.

Hwang is the father! She won't be X's clone but Hwang's.
We have Hwang back in a way and adding another loli to the roster, that's killing two birds with one stone. Genius!

Somebody get her name spelled correctly in the thread title...

Anyway, my thoughts:
Things I like:
1: Xianghua will be replaced, this isn't me ripping into X, its just good to see her story isn't going to be completely ruined by the 17 year gap.
2. I personally think one of the reasons many people started playing X was because she was so cute, nice to see its been passed on.
Things I dislike:
Where is the render? ^_~
