Maxi General Q&A

8A+B is a good way to break down that guard too. It's one of his strong guard damage attacks and is deceptively pretty good on block. Anyone dumb enough to try and hit you out of it usually eats heavy damage from it, especially with that high clean hit property. Also builds pretty good meter IIRC. I've started using it a bit more against Bomb Natsus and people who throw too much and I've been having good luck with it. I'd say it's a great tool to use of someone is getting nervous but everything Maxi has to offer seems to be amazing when you get them nervous.

i don't think i've EVER seen this much hate for maxi! i was playing online last night and one guy randomly called maxi OP. that's right.....maxi.....overpowered. don't know why but that got under my skin for some reason, despite the other generic criticisms of maxi he made.

sidenote: i hate how overused the term overpowered is. 99% of the time i hear someone say it, it's just because they're butthurt that they have a bad match-up with character X.

After using the combo CH 22A, LI K, 3A more often I have noticed that when you hit 22A on CH, 3A leaves your opponent back-turned limiting their options greatly.

LI B beats any attempts at hitting buttons.

LI K will beat attempts at hitting buttons too but will lose to some 2As (Ivy and Asteroth cannot 2A from back-turned and beat LI K but Yoshi can) and of course neutral ducks.

OMG HI GUYS! You mean people actually post in here? I thought this was just where HRD came to hug himself for being the only person to play Maxi.

Really, IRM? I actually like 1A. It's crazy slow and obviously the damage isn't so great, but it's not that bad of a move. It's -12 on guard according to the Wiki and the range on it is deceptively massive. I don't use it every match but when I do I usually land it.

IRM's entire game is based around sidestepping then doing 3K times a million.

Using my own tricks against me. Its why i HATE mirrors (unless im whopping NDKs sweet ass). I always think to myself "hey god damn it, thats my move!
i stole 11B into 66B Tech Trap from Kvasir XD and made it my own lol.

Step Asteroth 66K BE second hit and 11B punish him, then run up and catch the tech with a throw. There is a tremendous gap between you two and it still works. Then sit back and listen to the Asteroth player call you a grab spammer lol.

Another funny thing you can do is block Seigfrieds 2A+B into base hold K BE with a wall or edge behind you. Use WsB+Kg to avoid the BE and teabag him from behind as he runs into the wall or edge, then get a back grab. In an open area you have to run immediately up to Seigfried to get your back grab. So that sucks.

anything involving asta players calling people out for grabbing is always hilarious!

what's the best way to counter highs (like nighty's ag:A)? right now, i'm using 2G-WRB. i use some TC moves like 4A+B or 6A+B but i'm getting mixed results, i think my timing's just bad with them though.

A+B doesn't have a TC at all.

Try 6A+B/6A+B BE, iWsB+K, 33B and 236K though all that would have to be done on anticipation to Nightmares Ag:A.

Your best options would be 6A+B and iWsB+K since they are both safe and moderately fast. I try to only use the BE when I know it will land.
