My SCV Original CAS

Gauntlet

[09] Warrior
Hello guys!

I have to say that I'm new around here and my english isn't so good, but I watched excellent creations and that inspired me to create this little thread to show you all what I've made.

Ah, by the way, here is the page where I upload all my photos: http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/Bruno_Attias/library/?sort=3&page=0

Here is the background of the fantasy world I have created. The characters I made are based on this world.
In an ancient past, when stars and planets were still rising by the power of the gods, a creature was born from the dephts of the universe. Many names were given to it, but the most famous is: "The First One".

The purpose of the creature is the detruction of the universe, no cahos could stop his hunger, so the gods battled the monster, but The First One was strong and war began on the universe.

It was two hundred years of battle, but the gods prevailed. In the end almost every planet was destroyed, and only five gods barely survived: Nido - The Viking God; Gwyn - The Knight God; Saria - The Nature Goddess; Necro - The Dark God and Zion - The God of Light.

With almost no life energy, the gods united themselves and used their last power to create a new world over the corpse of The First One. With their divine essences, they created five realms to compose the new world: The Nord Realm; The Imperial Realm; The Nature Realm: The Underworld and The Elysium.

With the five realms created over the body of The First One, the world of Pronthera was created at last.
But the First One was far from finished, his consciousness was still alive, searching for a soul to overtake it's body and finally become whole once again and resume the rampage that brought the universe on the edge of apocalypse.

Comments, opinions and critics are all welcome.

Hope you enjoy it!

Matchy Match means there are many colors on the characters right? If that is what you mean, I'll try to not overdone with the colors.

Thanks for enjoying it XD

I really like the simplicity yet charismatic concept of the character and the flawless execution of those concepts.

If something...The tatoo on the Elf prince face I think a softer color would give a more natural looking, something White or Brown but almost transparent.

Thank you all guys!

DarkWolf, yes I played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim and I took part of my inspiration from them.

Neclord, I see that, I'll try to change the color as soon as I can. Thanks for your critic.

Ok then, time for more CaS. Hope you all enjoy it!

These just keep getting better and better.

They do, but they lack a strong theme, creating an original means making the CAS original / unique / with a twist.

I know it is easy to say after peeps have done thousands of CAS, but those lack charisma, and a few beginners mistakes like sticker size and placement, not enough constrast or matching in the color scheme, overbright hues, and overall lack of details...

If you allow me some friendly advice, make a mental note of what mood you want your CAS to express (whimsical, gnarly, cute, fierce, menacing, dark, bright, heavy, light, whatever...) then use the color scheme, sticker work, face paints and of course ExEq gimmicks to expand on the original theme...

Take your nordic lord, it isn't bad, the eq choices and color scheme is consistent for a wanderer viking, but maybe a lord would need a bit of jewelry, some more elaborate clothing, or a more lordly helmet, which you could do by amplifying its features ie. take the hornless viking helm, add huge horns and a other ornaments to create an ominous and unique helmet, you could use the skull mask to hide part of his face a la Willow, and add 3D effects to it, or keep the visible face then use face paint to make him look older, grittier, warpainted, and then add scar stickers instead of going for a youngblood face with a beard, which looks odd...
I'd also remove the stickers (especially with that color) on helmet and chest piece...

In a nutshell, add a layer of you to the CAS, instead of stopping at the classic stereotyped look that (again) have been done to death...

Keep on sharing, you certainly got technical potential, now let us see your artistic one.

Yours, Vil

Thanks Vilarcane.

For sure I have a lot to learn, since I'm noob (and suck) at CaS.

By the way, may I ask you a few questions?

ExEq gimmicks: what is this and how can i use it on my CaS?

3D effects: I really don't figure out how to make that effect.

Color: I always try to put 2 or 3 tones in my CaS, but what can I do to improve it?

Again thanks for the advice and thank you all for the replies guys.

It will be really difficult for me to explain all of this with long sentences, so i'll have again to give pictures as examples to illustrate my comment...if you don't wanna have them here, you can just read and look at them, then report the post and it'll be gone, or i can delete it provided i come back here (i am on my way out of the board, just barely with a foot on the inside to try to help one last time).

You see, ExEq means Extra Equipment, and, provided you got most of them unlocked, bought, it adds a considerable layer of depth in CAS making.

3D effects means you can use certain patterns or stickers to produce bump mapping effects on your CAS and achieve various special FX, and of course face paint is a way to add charisma to otherwise run of the mill CAS stereotypes.

Colors is all about matching and not overdoing, meaning 3-4 tones is right, but there has to be enough contrast, little saturation is in most cases advised (but not always), and matching colors is a difficult exercise and requires a good eye since items can have different color properties meaning same numbers won't give the same color in the end.
You can for example do wonders with the first pattern, the 3 color gradient, to achieve all kinds of effects

Now if you want examples of the stuff, you can always go there for a few examples :) :

Have fun ! art is try...

Thank you very much Vil and don't worry about having your album on my thread.

I'm already finish with my new CaS.

By the way, I took the critics in consideration and made some updates on my characters. So I edited the previous posts with the new images.

Hope you guys like it.

OK, Kortharg is interesting.
The head has charisma and nice touch on the patterned jewel, it is just that the colors (red and purple) don't give it enough contrast and it looks like almost unicolor.
Using the snakeskin pattern on armor pieces like that isn't a good idea either, too reflective in-game, you could go for other snakeskin pattern or just gradients, or the pattern you used on the jewel could be used to great effect for a fiery demon like this one, refer to the pic below of early CAS i did if you want ideas for colors that will help give your design a more coherent color scheme with enough contrast and a charred clothing / burnt skin and worn leather effect, using different patterns...
You can see for instance that the choice i made on ghostrider for the charred clothe effect is better than on the Djinn because i used orange as a second color instead of red, bringing out the lava crust look even better...

removed at gauntlet's req :)

Again, i can tell the hues are a bit high on your jailer...

Same goes for the second one, the build is ok (using a trademark pure ring eye trick :) but the colors kinda ruin it...on that particular piece of armor, the gradient i think you are using is the right choice, just mix the colors a bit more...

Again, just examples, and you can have them removed :)

Ahzirall's helmet is awesome! How did you make it?

Reminds me of my own Aeolos:
