New player here. I wanna get competitive

I've always played the Soul Calibur games, but I never really got into the whole competitive scene until recently. I actually became pretty decent with SFIV but I kinda always wanted to get good at this game. I've just been in training mode with different characters to see which ones I liked most, or which ones I had a natural knack for and I narrowed it down to Misturugi, Ivy (unfortunately this one is my natural knack character lol), and Astaroth (something about a giant axe just looks awesome). I really like Astaroth's raw power and Ivy's style is pretty unique. Mitsurugi is, well he is a samurai, nuff said.

So are these good characters? Bad characters? Thanks for any advice in advance guys

Of the three Mitsurugi is the most balanced. He has wonderful power combos, stances, throw/low/mid mixups.
I would recommend him for new players...
Ivy relies a lot on pokes and super throws
Astaroth relies on frame traps, ring out setups and space control.

It's up to you, really.
The game's too new to really say if any character is truly bad. All seem to have a fighting chance as of right now.

Ok so Mitsurugi it is lol. Anybody wanna help show me the ropes? lol 3D fighters are new to me but Soul Calibur is just so awesome I gotta get good at it. Especially considering my characters in character creation!
