Official SCV Stage Discussion

Silk_Road_Ruin.JPG

Love this stage from III and all the silk road ones for that matter. Sucker for a sunset and Arabian mystique which quite frankly was seriously lacking in IV.

III imo had the best stages, so much was going on in the backrounds. The japanese war ship battle with flaming arrows striking the stage, battlements stage with siege workshops gear spouting flaming stuff. A-mazing.

Yeah, if there was one or two great things about SC3 it was the art design for stages and character costumes. I thought of some more stages should return like Indian port Silk Road, and some Windmill or waterfall stage from SC2 and 3. I feel that SC4 had too many 'dark' stages and there were very few stages in the game that were bright and used natural sunlight.

Outside of the stages that are centered around the TOLS, the stages that are unique to SC4 are pretty good.

I wouldn't mind seeing some old stages return, but I rather have entirely new stages for SC5.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of The Money Pit. Love that stage.

Kaminoi Castle- Sakura Dai Gate(Taki's stage, could be given to Arthur).

Best stage ever IMO, but i want it to be Taki's stage of course.
Also Hoko Temple from SC1. Yes i'm trying to promote Taki for SC5 by means of stages a bit :P
And also Seung-Mina's Li-Sheng-Su-Temple Ruin from SC3 it looked beautiful.

I strongly favor the eastern themes over the western ones, in architecture as well in background music, for SC in general.

And the Chaos stage from SC1.

I am liking the new ship stage but otherwise if they had not already showed us that I Would have wanted that to return.

Probably sophtitia and cassandras stage from SC2

Soulcalibur:
i dunno lol

Soulcalibur II:
Egyptian Crypt - I won't lie, I loved the gimmicks in this stage. While, of course, useless for pr0 play I think having an arena that was more than just a slab to run back and forth on was pretty interesting. Plus, y'know, Egypt is awesome.
Imperial Capital Ayutthaya - Beautiful. Simply beautiful. This is the stage I think of when I think of Soulcalibur as a series. It's wide open, expansive, and (did I mention this?) beautiful.
Lakeside Colosseum - Dat music.
Tartaros - Possibly the best final boss arena I'd ever faced an enemy in. All of the flames everywhere gave everything an "oh shit" feeling, while the infinite running plane made for no worries in dodging, running, ring outs, or whatever.

Soulcalibur III:
Lakeside Colosseum - DAT MUSIC.
Old Toledo: Burning Gallery - The fire everywhere gave it a nice hectic feel, compared to the many more normal and very unchaotic stages.
Silk Road Ruins - Between the sunset, the sand, the Arabian mystique, and the architecture, it was a glory to fight on.
Lost Cathedral - The water was beautiful, and I'm a sucker for tearing up holy places with combat. The juxtaposition between an area of prayer/worship and an area to tear another dude's spine out with your zweihander is awesome.

Soulcalibur IV:
Ice Coffin of the Sleeping Ancient - Having somewhere pretty far out compared to the normal and more accessible stages is pretty awesome. It was still a place one could logically to go to, while not being like in the Chaos Dimension or something. while All the ice everywhere was absolutely beautiful, as was the music.
yeah everywhere else in IV sucked

I think what I want, most of all, is a wider variety of stages. It's going to be easy just to only pick Euro-Asian-centric areas for stages, but there's a lot more to the world that can be explored. Like the plains of Africa, the mountains of Scotland, or (as mentioned before) the deserts of Arabia. I'm not saying they should be the focus, of course, just don't make everything all castles and temples.

SC3
Lost Cathedral (Beautiful)
Grand Labyrinth (Fun)
Chaos Realm (Just luv that design)
Silk Road (Who could forget this?)
Pirate Raid (or this?)

SC4
Uhhh...

Well that's all I could think of right now but of course, new stages are always welcome. (Just no boring ones like Spiral of Time)

one of my favorites is already in the trailers!
PIRATE SHIP STAGE REMAKE!!!!
that and the colosseum stage from SC3. always loved that one.
expecially with the cage variant.

Here's mine:

Seong Dojo (Hwang's stage);
The Narrow Gorge (Li Long's stage);
Shrine of Confined Demons (Taki's stage);
Unknown Land (Rock's stage, could be given to Bangoo);
Valencia Port (Cervante's stage).

Proving Grounds (Kilik's stage);
Valentine Mansion (Ivy's stage).

Ostrheinsburg Chapel (Nightmare's stage);
Eurydice Shrine Gallery (Cassandra's stage);
South France Mansion- Library (Raphael's stage, could be given to Amy);
Village of the Wind (Talim's stage);

From SoulCalibur 4/ Broken Destiny:

Ostrheinsburg Castle Throne Room (Raphael/ Tira´s stage, could be given to Hilde);
Voiceless Volpe Bridge (Dampierre's stage/ This stage is a MUST!!! Many people never fought in it, me included since I never played SC Broken destiny).

As you can see I'm a big fan of Ostrheinsburg Castle and all the stages based in it XD it's a classic! I like it since it's debut way back in SE/Blade when Siegfried was just a young knight and this was his stage. Well still a lot of stages to pick if your choices are not already in here...

Can't wait to read which stages you guys would like to see in SC5. Cheers.
Well you put all the stages that i want them to return, lets hope is the same musicc, specially Zas stage, clock tower(time marches on.)

I would love to see

Eyuridice Shrine as it looks 17 years after (you know how Sophitia's faith restored the Shrine in SE/SB.....well if she is dead then I want to see how it looks now in ruins)
The Real Money Pit
Xianghua's stage from SC1
Toledo Burning mansion

EDIT: There is already a thread about which OLD stages people would like to return, but this is about NEW locations.

I already mentioned in my “gravy features” thread some of the elements I would like to see incorporated into SCV’s graphics and stage options, and by extension some details on the stages themselves. For instance, I thought it would be very cool to fight in a storm, with wind, lightning, rain, etc. I also hoped that multiple versions of stages would be available, say with different times of day / seasons / weather / whatever.

In this thread though I’d like to put forth cool NEW stage locations or themes.

1. Forest Stage - I know ROs are a fundamental part of SC’s mechanics and balancing, but the popularity of non-RO stages makes one wonder why they have to be artificial cages. Why not create a seemingly more open, natural non-RO stage? An dark German forest, with mist and brief glimpses of wildlife (birds, squirrels, deer, wolves), would have a lot of atmosphere; trees, rocks and bushes could define the stage boundaries. You could also make it an RO stage by including a river if you really wanted to.

2. A Japanese castle rooftop at night, with full moon - how many ninja anime / movies have used this setting? Seems like a good stage idea to me. Could be on fire, too - nice effects opportunity.

3. Italy - say, a Venetian bridge. Especially if Ezio ends up the guest character, this would be a no-brainer for adding a lot of rich detail and artistry to the environment, while having an obvious RO in the form of the canals.

4. Catacombs, or some sort of “dark cathedral” - there are all sorts of cool historical buildings and structures decorated with or practically made out of human skeletons. Think about how well that would fit in the SC universe.

What do you think?

LOL yes why are the birds just floating in SC4. They not even flaping their wings.
Anyone who has ever lived or worked near the water knows that seabirds do this sort of hovering from time to time. They just face into the wind and soar, no flapping necessary. Sometimes they even go backwards if the wind is strong enough. It is unrealistic that in SC IV they just stay there the whole time... real birds don’t just remain in one place for minutes on end. But SC has way more unrealistic elements than that, haha.
