Resident Evil 5 demo for 360

Cla

LET'S FIGHTING!
It came out only in Japan some days ago. Luckily, it is obtainable in US easily.

Follow this simple vid:

Basically, download and extract (RAR format) the demo at the link provided in that vid's description and burn it onto any type of blank CD using DeepBurner. Other programs may work, but DeepBurner is free and known to work.

The demo is short, but awesome. You can try single and co-op. (online and offline) The new controls are clearly Gears Of War inspired. (Strafing finally possible) Not bad, just interesting. I hate the lack of a southpaw option, but at least you can change the controls to RE4 style. (but Run and Action are still switched for some reason. And then there's no way to strafe anymore)

Anyone else try it yet?

Yeah I've been playing it. I broke down and went to demonoid and downloaded it though, because those rar files were a major pain in the ass. It's short, but a fucking blast to play with a competent partner.

lol At the Assembly. If you get on top of the bus, the executioner just wanders around downstairs confused the entire time, while you kill everyone else until the chopper shows up.

I did. Can't wait for it to come out in the US, because loading off the CD takes for freaking ever (thank you very %$&#ing much, Capcom, for region coding a damn demo).

I don't understand why everyone claims these controls are Gears inspired (I've seen this claim made everywhere). The only new aspect to the controls are strafing, and that's only when you're NOT aiming the gun. Aside from strafing, this is RE4 all over again. That's not bad, but it's far from Gears of War.

Speaking of not being able to strafe while aiming, that's my biggest gripe. The value of having a strafe option is to be able to move to the side while aiming. It's nice that navigating the world is a bit easier, but it would have also been very nice to be able to move while aiming.

I still don't get you folks complaining about something as UNNECESSARY as running while shooting... Did the previous RE games have them? Will this game honestly be so damn difficult without it? It's still RE, not just an FPS, yknow. rofl Not that it might not be appreciated. I certainly wouldn't complain if it had that option, but I still don't think it's ridiculously hard to manage without it.

My complaint is mainly with the inventory system. Switching weapons/healing your partner/giving them items is simply ridiculous with that damn thing. It's like "Oh, I'm gonna do this." and then I get hit by some fool with a wrench.

As far as the controls, I have no complaints whatsoever, because I changed mine back to the RE4 default. Even if they switched A and X, whatever, it's still working fine.

It's a ton of fun, and I'm glad I'm finally getting to play it. My friend and I played for hours and we're still not bored. Then again, we're huge fans of such games.

It's especially fun on the assembly stage, when you can simply jump on top of the bus, and the executioner just walks around below, looking at you sadfaced because he's too fat to jump.

The way you pull up your gun with LT and fire with RT, now run with A, and use X to interact with stuff. The only actual addition in the controls for this game is strafing, yet many buttons have changed oddly similar to Gears mapping even though these changes are unnecessary. Also to me, the new art style and graphic engine seems inspired by Gears. (obviously not copying or even that similar, just inspired) And it looks like the game won't be played as one big level anymore. But in small levels ala Gears.

Nothing wrong with it. It's just nice to see the Japanese acknowledging the merit of American games enough to make changes to their own games.

I mean clearly Gears was inspired by RE4 is some elements, and RE5 is also having some elements inspired by Gears. I think it's great that American and Japanese developers can respect each other like this.

I hope it will be possible to play Shiva in Single Play. They should really go RE0 style and let you switch between the chars on the fly.

didnt find another resident evil 5 thread so im gonna post this here...and i dont know what to say about this but i think if this is true(and if you dont believe me then go and search for "resident evil jill" on youtube) then capcom destroys a main chara from the RE series ...like nintendo would kill mario =/
...dont know what to say....

Yeah you see that in the end of one of the trailers, Amanda. I was sad too. :C Maybe it's some huge cover-up? Maybe Wesker's just a douche. lol

When one of my co-workers saw that at the end of that trailer. He lost all interest in RE.

I smell a fanboy.

On the topic, I've yet to get this demo to work. I cannot get it off the goddamn PC onto a CD. I have tools to do it, but the CDs I am using are mad trash and will not burn them. Pretty lame of Capcom to IP BAN Xboxs forgien to the Japan Marketplace. Its a demo capcom, see how far your fans are willing to go for your series?

EDIT: NEVERMIND, Demo is no longer IP locked, im downloading it nao.

EDIT THE SEQUEL! gives error message when you try in play it. so still no go on the download side.

Japan doesn't even LIKE the xbox that much! D: You have American fans, Capcom. I have feelings, y'know. D:<

But alas, I'm just happy to have it without needing some sort of modding equipment for my 360. I hope you get it soon, Rek. The rar files are a major pain in the ass. Thank God for demonoid. @___@ I felt bad for Enk. He tried to help me with those rar files for a couple of hours, to no avail. D: I thought I was gonna thrustpunch my computer. I'm such a pessimist sometimes. lol

That's just it, it's not RE, hasn't been since RE4. Since the games have shifted focus from pure suspense, to more action-suspense, I don't think it fits to lock the player in place when they're shooting. Doesn't mean that moving while shooting should be easy, but I'd like to at least have the option.

Is it possible to play the demo co-op online?

Renako, decent quality blank CDs are crazy cheap. Just go into FYE and buy one of those packs of a couple CDs. I used a Memorex CD-R.

Zombie-Plagafied Jill is gonna be the final boss... >_> Claire better be in the game (and playable) somewhere! I wonder what the new Mercenaries mode will be like.

I had a chance to play it today, and out of the three people who had a chance (since we were playing it at the student lounge at college), I was the only one that didn't die. And I have witnesses. I was forced into playing it, seeing as how I'm the only one that really plays Resident Evil (the REAL Resident Evil games) obsessively, so everyone wanted to see me go first. I did the first stage (the not Shanty Town one), and the whole time, I have this room full of people telling me that I need to run over there, or run towards that, telling me to get out of the area. Meanwhile, I already know that I'm sealed in, and what I should be doing is shooting them and running around until the cutscene happens.

Overall, I thought it was exactly what I was expecting it to be. Resident Evil 4 with better graphics and a little more overwhelming with baddies.

The new controls sucked, and next time I'm setting them to regular Resident Evil style controls.

Yeah, just change it to Type A. Strafing is nice, but you can't run-strafe and you spend the majority of the time holding run anyways.

And that's another thing really bothering me with the controls. You're using an analog stick, yet you still have to hold a button to run. Really?

Yes. I've played with a couple people actually.
I forgot that my Gold ran out the other day. Can you can play RE5 demo online with an American account? I may renew my subscription if you can.

Burned it to a disc...Xbox didn't even read it.

Son of a fucking bitch.
I don't know if you know, but the 360 doesn't read the disc itself as the demo/game. It's just going to see the CD as a "Mixed Media Disc". You have to go to Game Library and then Demos.

Yeah, I was a witness and it was humorous. It was especially humorous when the guy after you played and sucked major balls at the game and the whole student lounge got rowed up when he died.

But yeah, the first stage was the typical demo time trial. Haven't played or seen the second stage fully so I'm not sure how that plays out. However, I'd just like to point out that it's rather odd that even though this is a Japanese demo, the game's title is Resident Evil 5 rather than Biohazard 5, despite the fact that it was all in English too.

I still don't understand why the enemies will run up to you, STOP, and then attack you. It would make more sense if they just ran up and attacked you right when they were within range.

BTW Krit, how did you get the online multiplayer to work? My roomate said he tried earlier and it wasn't allowing him to.

From what a friend told me,you can DL it,but it'll get blocked, even if you do the japanese account trick.
If your xbox has a US IP,they'll track it and pretty much block the demo. That's why most people burn it on CDs.
At least this is what I heard.
