SC Community needs to move on....

S-U, it's too bad that you didn't make it out to Ramon's NY tourney, and sucks to know that you didn't go because of the payout/ban. Because even though the payout wasn't much, the turnout wasn't high, and two characters were unfortunately banned in the name of Absolute Justice, it's good to go out and support the game and community. It only cost $6 to go out from NYC to the venue that Ramon got. Boycotting only works when there are many people doing it, so if you love the game and want to help it's community, then I encourage you to go and support the smaller tournies, regardless of what the payout and rules will be.

It's funny because when it was said that GAMME would allow Hilde and Algol, there was hardly anyone complaining. There weren't people raging about it. It's only when it was said that the rules may change that people started speaking up and causing drama. I'm sure if the rules for GAMME would have stayed firm from the start, there wouldn't be people complaining about Hilde/Algol like there are now, just like Evo.

And at this point it feels pointless to try and defend Hilde/Algol. Because now it doesn't even feel like the community has much of a say on the bans. It's coming to a point where one person decides what the rules will be and that's that. I'm not a fan of trying to make it a nation wide standard of promoting the idea that Hilde/Algol are broken for tournament play, when that hasn't been proven. Banning characters not because of balance, but to keep people who find them annoying to fight from leaving... just feels wrong, and promotes the scrub mentality, which I stand firmly against. I liked it how it was before, where it felt more like the tournament organizer could make the decision based on what people in that area/community wanted, unlike now where we have communities trying to force their rules on others. And I also don't agree the assumption that Hilde/Algol are the main reasons the community has dwindled, if anything it seems like they're being used as scapegoats.

But anyways, just let people do what they want, let the ban happen. If you truly believe the ban will make things worse in the end, then let the people who support the ban witness it themselves.

In the meantime, I think it's just best to continue supporting the scene. And rather than trying to convince people that Hilde and Algol aren't deserving of a ban, keep it the talk behind the curtains and teach people how to deal with them in person/in private. Trying to force your beliefs on people on a message board usually doesn't work.

My 2 cents.

Given the fact that they posted poor fiscal results and Tekken was one of the very few bright points, I think it's safe to say Namco will support their fighters. That said, hopefully that means we'll get proper balancing patches for more than just the first few months (if necessary).

Given Project Soul's poor track record since SC3, I'm not holding my breath but an arcade release first for a new Soul game would work wonders for the series IMO.

Its funny how you took offense when i said no offense. Since youve been around since SC2 how many tourneys did you win. When I say NO OFFENSE that means I don't want to start online drama. SU answered respectfully and I had a feeling you wouldn't because you started out being a smart ass too babalook. So truthfully I'm not surprised. I guess I came to this thread because I want to go to one of Rigels tourneys and hopefully G.A.A.M.E or EVO. So might as well find out who the community is. I guess the offline community is just as disrespectful as some of the online community. Or is that just you.

I wasn't offended, but how you worded your post was the only thing that was offensive to anyone that played offline. And i simply answered your question. Stop trolling the online forums and you would know a guy like me. Trust me, you would know if i was pissed at you :D Also, i didn't win any SC2 tournaments, hence why i typed "the scrub days", that's when i first came to the scene. But i would doubt that you would know about soulcalibur.com. Or Guradimpact.com would you now?

RTD: I don't mind playing the bitch with the cowboy hat :D. In fact, this time i'll play you w/o sandbagging how does that sound good sir? Also, the whole banning thing...yea...i can say that this thread has become my fault huh? it's pretty funny how i say one thing and the community blows up!! Anywho, fact of the matter is that imo, it seems that the US community needs to get their shit together, period. What was evident is that Hilde seemed to discourage the new players. And you and i both know, that when it comes to noobs contirbuting to the pot, you don't want to discourage the numbers :D

SU: Bro, you gotta give it up. It's like what idle and i have been saying. We didn't like the way it happened, however, it's time to adapt and move on. (besides, this gives you an advantage until you play me...since amy's still allowed lol)

RTD is somewhat right tho...and it's like what i have been posting for awhile now...now that 2 characters are gone, watch that Amy's going to be next one to be banned, and voldo, and...i guess...Cass.

:sc2ast2:

Jian: I wouldn't call trolling providing numbers for tournaments since the ban. Shit if people are gonna impose a ban expect to be scrutinized for it. You ban two characters on the grounds that it will save people and increase numbers.

Statistics show that 4 tournaments in a row don't show increased numbers but instead less. Noticed how I waited till now to post 4 instead of just 1. I also noted a minor analysis on the snowstorm for Ramon's Pheonix Revival Monthly. Still the numbers would have been less than Koga's/East Coast tournaments before the ban and statistically speaking have been for quite some time.

I'll compile the turnouts for u just for proof over time so I can drop them in a thread when this ban shit flakes :). The plan should be scrutinized if it doesn't work and u ended up eliminating some of ur players that are here.

Malice: I'm not nice enough at Street Fighter 4 or Tekken 6 at the moment. Hence the training. See the honesty here. I don't need to lie to myself. I'll work hard to improve.

Everywhere but East Coast before the bans was dead for quite some time even before the Hilde ban. Post Hilde ban they are still dead. Stop fooling urself Hilde ban/Hilde not ban changed nothing on the East or West Coast. The one thing that is apparent based on Statistics is that East Coast has less people than it did before the ban. 4 Tournaments strong pathetic turnouts. Lets see if it continues since there seems to be a number of excuses. I'm sure it will continue just the way it is now.

Oofmatic: That's just it. It only takes a measly $6 to go to a tournament right next to me but I won't because of principle. The one thing that would make me break that principle is a good payout. Thats not there either so fuck it. While on the other hand it costs me more to get to urs in Canada and I announced in ur thread i'm going to either the next one or the one after the next one and ur tournament is $2 entry fee. Means no cash return. See whats going on here. Its not 100% about the cash.

Look at me. Voldo was considered garbage before Patch, and even more so after Patch, until me and a couple others starting winning/placing high and Major tourneys. Now he's considered Top Tier.

Point? Whichever Characters are doing well, will ALWAYS be considered Top tier and less credit will be given to the player. This is expected. So we shouldn't be arguing about Results or Tiers when it comes to Characters.

Our objective is simply get more people to appreciate and play Soul Calibur. We want people to enjoy the Tournament experience. We need to weed-out the Whiners and complainers and enlighten them on truly how to play the game. So instead of criticizing Whiners, we should try to enlighten them.

Lets just keep running tourneys and keep having people show up and everyone will be happy.

You know what fuck it. I'm gonna support this cause by showing up but i'm just gonna point out that if this shit flakes which I believe it will that Jaxel, IdleMind and whoever else has an obligation to fix what they did wrong and admit it plus never be allowed to make such a grand decision like this without full blown proof ever again because the bottom line is that its disrespectful and that is and always was my gripe with this ban.

Thread closed if someone wishes to close it. I'll move on. I'm gonna still keep track of those numbers though.

I'm so glad we can do whatever we want in norcal. This entire thread means nothing to us, we just make fun of all the ban shit when we are playing. The only reason I haven't been pushing for a tournament is because of my airforce thing. My basic training date got pushed back because im switching my jobs so it's taking abit longer than normal.

Krayzie we should try to get something started just for the hell of it. (as long as I don't have to use that laggy ps2 converter that hajime had me use vs Manta yesterday)

[Edit] SU, you should know by now these people don't care about evidence. They just want to jack off to their own voices and pretend everything will get better.

I really hope you're being sarcastic.

So Far we've Learned.

1. No SCIV @ Evo.

2. Jaxel has decided (again?) that he's Banning Hilde Algol. Other communities minorly affected. Many argue PROS/CONS/PRINCIPLES.

3. DEV/GAMME are SCIV's next MAJORs, so we are all going to try our best to make said Tourneys. BIG POTZ is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

4. A bunch of stuff about Tourney Results, Tourney Turnouts, Whiners. In the end we can NEVER CORRELATE Tunrouts with Random Rules/Characters. Everyone has their reasons for maknig/not making it.

5. As far as I kno, Toronto still has a scene. NYC/NJ/NE still have a scene. This game is STILL WIDELY PLAYED ONLINE and across the USA. Just small communities, some that don't always have tourneys. Therefore GAME IS NOT DEAD

6. We as a community need to from the BEFORE THE RELEASE of a Game decide what is and isn't Bannable/Broken. I stress BEFORE.

7. We Love this Game, This Forum, and This Drama. Long Live Soul.

Edit - Yes Sarcasm, but only a Little :). I started the Voldo Revolution!!!

yes, before the release of a game we should be able to figure out what should be banned. you are absolutely correct. such a brilliant young man. i mean, ya should be able to tell by looking at them, if u get a good look at their eyes... and Hilde wears boots, so we shoulda known the bitch meant business wit the stompin boots on.

Now you've pissed me off Omar. What *we* did wrong? Has your "moral superiority" gone so far to your head that you feel as though you have the right to throw castigation on the very people who have tried to do the right thing from day 1, in effort, thought, sweat, and money?

It's not that we aren't above admitting we are wrong, it's the idea of YOU of all people demanding it from us like your some kind of litigator is just flat out stupid. Seriously, fuck you. Now there's no reading into it for you to do.

tbh, i think this communities problem is that who thinks what should/shouldn't be banned in the game. As i have explained before, i wasn't in charge of everything. So i can't make up my reasons why things should/shouldn't be banned. I'm not going into details on what should've happened. But at this point in the game we need to continue on and revive the dead scenes. And THAT is going to take total community effort. Like it or not, they don't look at us as a community, so now we need to take that note and make us stronger than ever before.

wow....i'm really sorry i even mention THAT word in this thread..

*cooks more popcorn*

Pretty sure this place needs more death threats, considering someone like Ceirnian is allowed to just openly generalize and judge people as if there's no consequence to that. Really, now? We can't have different opinions without being respectful about it? Perhaps that is the reason Hilde is banned. Karma be trippin'

Why should i respect abunch of people doing dumb shit? East coast can do their thing all they want, maybe we should just rename that side of the country the Bitch Coast on the regional forum.
