SCV Ivy FAQ & General Discussion

Don't worry, they do not nerf a character based on tournament results.

There are many things wrong with Ivy. Also, it's not about taking out iCS, but making balancing it better.

A couple of things that I can think of (which I am sure that you have already thought of, or have apparently already been addressed):

3B should always launch high enough to get the 6B8 combo.
6[B ] should be altered in some way to be more useful.
A damage increase (I think a 15-25% increase is reasonable?)
Change 8A+B so that it has the same properties as SCIV so that we can use it as a combo finisher.

In general change the fact that she needs to get lucky with a counter hit to do some good damage.

I moved your post to General Discussion.

Speaking of 3B, I think at the beginning everyone was disappointed with it. But now, I think if the move launched high enough to combo it would be completely broken. It's a safe mid with pushback, good guard burst, tech step, and even TC. It must have some weakness and right now it's damage. They would have to make it at least -15 punishable to compensate for NH combo and those properties imo.

Not sure if 44B+K is remotely useful, but I remembered 44B+K:B was there since SC2.

In the practice mode, set the dummy stand normal for the first hit, and then guard all afterward.

44B+K on hit, wait for a sec, and then press B. If done correctly, the dummy will fly at the height as if it was an unblockable, which allows you to ivy-lick afterward.

I can see this to be a useful whiff punisher at distance, though there's quite a risk of using this attack.

I'm not completely sure but can't the :B be guarded after the 44B+K hits?

it looks as if 4,4B+K into a quick B was guaranteed. However if you delay too much, the dummy would block it. There's a small window there the dummy would not block, and the the :B may send opp up. I had it tested on normal hit as well, rather than CH.

I'm going to use the command record function to test this out so I know it will work 100% of the time. This may just be a fluke/glitch the dummy acts with the "hit then block all" feature.

EDIT: Just tested it on myself. It's guaranteed. NC. 87 dmg w/ 6B8, 102 dmg w/ 6B8 BE.

Just realized that you can do the :B from the visual cue. :B comes out really fast, so press :B when you see your opp "twitch" from the crouch-hit animation. You will be able to do this every single time after a hit 44B+K.

Correct, I like to think of it as they stand up out of the crouch animation I'm helping them stand up lol...works every time...even at tip range. Caught QUITE a few ppl with this last night. The damage is amazing!

Sora - Good games last night! I finally got a game on you! Though I felt like you gave me the first round that last match.

Had my first tournament lose yestarday but overall had good timejust wish I would have made it a bit farther and played my ivy better

Lol, GGs. No, I was trying to react to see what you would do if someone just runs up and blocks in front of you. It's something I'm trying to implement in my game to get a read on my opponent.

Lol, oh ok... I was wondering why you were just taking everything. Did you learn anything from blocking in my face?

Nothing too substantial -- just that you liked going with FC1B and that you weren't twitch ducking at all. That's why I kept using 66B BE.

Lol, yeah I probably do FC1B too much. I'm just too used to people throwing highs and throws all the time.

OMG!! sorry pulled an all nighter with redbull and coffee trying to pull ivys 22_88 (B) {Just} and after 5 grueling hours in training repeating the same move and wondering why it doesn't work. I had a few failed attempts learning this other days , but at the point where ivy needs this and i was determined. But 4 and a half hours into it I feel all hope is lost and only a investment in a arcade stick will make me achieve this.....but the i had an epiphany, i act on it and praise Ivys pixelated bosoms it works and i can do it within the 5 mins i am able to do it like a normal 22_88B and tons of other combos from doing this small task and i`m happy shame on all you out there i`m sure a few of you who answered us newbies for help on this and told us to fallow the beat knows what im talking about ....Bhaha... time to sleep, lol :sc1ivy3:
