So what was your first fighting game?

My first fighting game was Karate Champ in the arcade.

PS. If you don't know what it is, it's the game being played by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the first Bloodsport movie.

first one i ever played was sf2... i was pretty young so just mashed hado & shoryukens... wasn't really a huge fan when i got older... first fighting game that actually got me into playing fighting games was king of fighters 97... still my favorite game to date...

Starman was the MOTHER FUCKING SHIT. Now you know normally I am against this sort of language, but Starman totally deserves it. Seriously why hasn't he appeared in Smash yet?

Street fighter, MK, and...

One must fall - 2097

Well, I was there when Karate Champ came out. I do remember playing the very first street fighter. I was all about the roundhouse because it was something I always wanted to do in Tae Kwon Do.

As for the first one I really got into? Sadly, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters ON GENESIS. Not even the good one, the crappy one. I didn't know any better. Figured out how to spam moves on the CPU and had fun doing it. That was when I first learned about quarter circle/half circle motions, super moves, charge moves, all that stuff. I did get the SNES version which was SOOOO much better.

When I was a kid (around 4-6) my dad worked at a huge arcade in Atlanta (i think). The place had neon lights and everything. He had a key that would enable him to play any game for free, so everytime i go, i would just spend hours playing random fightin games. The biggest game i played back then was Mortal Kombat, and i used to low sweep my way to victory everytime. Those were good times, and thats probably the reason I'm hooked on games as it is.

Then wen I moved to Cali I got my nintendo 64 with super smash bros and both zelda games....i was in heaven yo. The next door neighbor also had it, and we were always friendly rivals....and with each other shit talkin each other every day, we played all day every day got better, until we were fukin crazy good. Then Gamecube came out with melee, and we decided to try our skills at our school tourney. We won all of them (we did the 2 vs. 2 matches)...those where the first games i actually got good in.

huh....i miss those days....

If we're talking multiplayer, I would have to say Tekken 2 was the first one I really got my feet wet with. Me and a guy from work used to play against eachother all the time. That rolled into Tekken 3 and Soul Calibur 1 in college.

Doh! Forgot about World Heroes back in senior year of high school. It's a boarding school so they used to have a little building on campus that sold burgers and snacks, had pool and ping pong, and had some arcade machines. Everyone used to try to play World Heroes. That was before I knew about the half circle/quarter circles, as well as dragon punch motions.

My first fighting game is street fighter II. In my opinion, it was actually fun. The fighting game I took seriously, is Soul Calibur 2 for the gamecube. I would spend hours playing as Link, Yoshimitsu, and Xianghua.

my 1st fighting game was MK4 gold edition (ps1) then i quit video games 4 sports when i started again it was VF4 evo

My first ones were MK2 for PC and One Must Fall - 2097. The latter featured an extremely well-written storyline, some great characters and a challenging tournament mode. A cult classic, if there was one.
