When the son doesn't know what it is that he was given the dad realizes that he ate his wife. He shoots his son for making him eat his wife.

Wait a second. I don't see how he could conclude that the son really didn't eat seagull unless the son had tasted the seagull first. I doubt that even if I went out to a farm, stabbed a goat to death, and ate some of the raw meat, that I would recognize a professionally prepared goat meat steak if you served me one in a restaurant just by looking at it. (And I hope no one would shoot me as a result).

Now if the son had tasted the meat and still didn't know what it was, then I could give it to you. (Even though cooked seagull likely tastes very different from raw seagull).
