But that doesn't make sense. Why would you have an extra mimic when you can just have the one and then you could just pick whoever your opponent uses manually?

Because in online matches, you won't know who your opponent picks until the match starts.

But they're awesome in online matches, because your opponent won't know what to expect. I actually mained Mokujin in TTT2 for that reason.
If you're able to decently use every character in the game, then choosing a mimic does make sense since you'll have the advantage of your opponent being unable to adapt. But how many people are able to use a mimc that way, vs a larger number of users for a single character?

Take Seong-Mina who was pretty terrible tier in SCIV, there's probably more ppl who uses her than say Elysium. PS should take into account the numbers for their moneyzzzzz. Would ppl pay for Zas, Yun-boy, Talim, and MAYBE EVEN ROCK/BANGOO LOL, or would they pay for a mimic? Is a fleshed out moveset or a quick -throw all the styles onto one skin- better?

Completely honest, I preordered the Collector's edition for SCV but when I discovered that we got 3 S and S chars and 3 mimics and no Talim, I canceled, feeling that it was beyond lazy. Today, I have a SCV for ps3 and xbox and I enjoy the game and using Zwei, but that 3 mimcs was a punch in the face and a bad memory.

*I'll just meh at one mimic. Edgemaster is pretty cool. Kilik and Elysium is a definite BLEH.

When I was talking about custom mimics, I'm referring to it not being an actual character like Devil Jin. Go into creation mode, then BOOM, the option is there. Kilik and Elysium shouldn't have been characters themselves, but their concepts could've been formulated by players. Not done officially.

Behold, "Ivy" in SCVI :)

Whenever Soul Calibur VI gets made, Project Soul needs to stick to their guns. They did the generational jump, so they better stick with it. A lot of fighting styles were lost, so now is the time to create new characters to replace the older characters fighting styles that we miss. Kilik and Elysium could have easily been replaced with a new character that used Talim's fighting style or Hwang's fighting style. I like the idea of the generational shift, but they really need to bring back the fighting styles that didn't make in SC5.
