It does specifically say on that site that we will "revisit the events of the original Soulcalibur" rather than "Soulcalibur(s)" which suggests it won't be a combined story mode of all of the SC games, just the first one.

I am willing to bet you that what they do is a reboot from SCII because the only footage they showed in the flashbacks were from Soul Calibur 3 onward like they were being forgotten. And to add to that, SCII was the most popular, and the most lauded. Although the gameplay isn’t the same, it looks like that direction
not necessarily bc in the quick flash backs they showed the malfested from scv if you take a closer look. they can go numerous ways with this, as far as story is concerned.

Wrong, Natsu is confirm because the concept art from last year was legit.

How does that explain Talim, Tira, and Zasalamel if that's the case?

It's reboot of all the events before SCV. Vergeben confirmed it.

Exactly and I've noticed that the name changed again to SOULCALIBUR as apposed to soul caliber not big difference but old school style in name but the 6 still suggests still latest. just looking at it out the box. corrected I got confused with the way the name was spelled on other articles and games I've seen excuse my ignorance.

It has always been 'Soulcalibur' though.

I haven't seen them yet so it still could be a possibility.

I can't imagine them being gone. This whole game seems to try to correct the mistake SCV made of cutting iconic characters, so it's hard see them making the mistake of... cutting iconic characters. The presence of new characters may and other hints may suggest an altered timeline. This is getting confusing.

I think all veterans will be back, only ones i'm not sure about are Rock ,Mina, Hwang and Yun, cause i feel they weren't too popular. Personally speaking i'd love at least one of Yun or Hwang to came back, or at least some red haired dude that has a tones of taekwondo kicks moves. (I'm not too familiar with Hwang as i barely touch SC1 and only with Ivy and Sieg, but i guess he's some kind in the same genre in term of fighting style as Yun.)

I just realize that we're very likely see Young Sieg in dat game, OMG, it was even one of my wishes i made back then in my SC6 Wishlist.

Wait, why is Mina there? She was an OG female for the series alongside Sophitia and Taki, so she's probably on the safe end.

Far too early to judge for sure, but as long as the game retains the same depth of gameplay I've come to know and love from the main series, then I won't have any complaints(unless we have another round of really bad balance at launch). It looks like it has the potential to be more in-depth than ever, so I hope it goes that way. Lost Swords for example went way too simple for me to appreciate, so I'm with Frayhua on extra bound stuns being the only redeeming factor for that game.

That reboot makes me curious. Could be awesome as well as less awesome ^^ (please let Raphael and Viola still be in the game)

Only four years pass between SC1 and SC2/3/4. Anyone who was in those games could easily be in. Just because they weren't in the game doesn't mean they didn't exist the world at all.
Yeah, four years isn't nearly as big as seventeen. Though, if Soul Blade is getting covered too then it's still substantial as a total of seven years pass.

I wonder about the story. I imagine that if really minor characters like Rock, Arthur, Hwang, and Li Long are in, they might be used as casualties to establish the stakes of the story. I can just imagine the heads thinking "No one will care if this character dies". Anyone else suspects this?

Go to Bandai Namco's website. SC6 is front and center, and takes up the whole screen!

Even Tekken 7 is pushed aside. Makes me proud to be a SC fan
Realistically speaking, a Soul Calibur game with the proper budget, direction, and content could easily do as well as NRS's fighting games do nowadays critically and financially. They just need to stop treating the series like Tekken's lesser and the bastard child of the two, when it has more potential to break out and exceed Tekken's popularity nowadays actually since, as much as I love the series, Tekken has started to experience the plateau effect.
