am I the only one who had no idea that Maxi is Japanese lol
I thought he was Indian or South Asian?
He's Okinawan. Which is technically Japanese by modern standards, but like Rex Dart said, they consider themselves different. They've actually experienced a shitload of injustice and prejudice in Japan as well. For a comparison, think of Okinawans similar to the Native Americans' treatment in America. That's kind of how the Okinawans have been treated and marginalized in Japan.

But to get back to the Maxi name topic, his design (Bruce Lee fused with Elvis, so a famous Chinese Eurasian martial artist fused with famous American rock-and-roll musician) coupled with his name.... is the weird thing that throws people way off because I guess there's some untold story there they never got into as far as I've ever known.
But him being a pirate/sailor (whichever you want to define him as) assumed to the point of assuredly had him adopt the name during his travels for whatever reason.

I guess being called Maxi beats calling himself "Pompadourbeard" or some such piratey alias though. lol

Maxi's name in Japanese is Makishi, which is an area in Okinawa.

I remembered seeing the Japanese version/pronunciation of his name before, but somehow never made the connection.
Well, that solves it once and for all.... kinda. The localized version of the game still calls and has his name spelled the clearly-not-Japanese/Okinawan way. So I wonder if they'll ever bother delving into that, or just leave it be a thing unexplained.

And if someone has the skill to put together a picture (drawing or photoshop) of Maxi with a pompadour beard, well, you'd be doing God's work. XD

Please Bamco get rid of that Elvis presley hair style for maxi...I'd be just fine with that. And no more long hair mullets for him either! Js lol

Hey do you guys think if Raphael is SCVI there's a possibility of him having a moveset similar to his SC2 version? I liked when he had those prep stances and the way he played.

I liked his SCIII moveset, I wasn't that fond of him in II so I'm not sure how it changed.

His V moveset had some nice moves (prep2A+B) but it felt very incomplete compared to the previous ones. Seeing how Sophitia and Mitsurugi got most moves back, I'm quite sure that Raph will got everything that made him special back, if he were to be in VI (pwease Bamco).

I preferred his SC3 moveset as well, so I hope his SC6 moveset is more reminiscent of that.
Mainly because I couldn't do a damn thing with him in 4 and 5. I mean, I'm not the greatest player, but I was at least able to play as him pretty easily in SC3 and actually had fun, whereas I'm terrible as him in the following two games.

The funny thing is that a lot of people kept saying it was Amy's fault that he became worse, but she isn't in 5 and he was still low tier XD (I liked him in 3 and I don't know why people keep saying he was soo much better in 2 :o)
