Soul Calibur vs Samurai Shodown

Yellowrose

[09] Warrior
Who would be up for that? I pretty much would like the see the current cast of SC "with Sophitia and Yun-Seong included vs The Samurai Shodown Edge of Destiny cast minus Jinbei, Wan Fu, and Kyoshiro in favor of Saya, Hidan, and Shiki.

The cast I would want

Natsu vs Galford
Xiba vs J
Ivy vs Shiki
Sophtia vs Saya
Pyrrah vs Nakururu
Patroklos vs Takechiyo
Mitsurugi vs Genjruo
Hilde vs Charlotte
Yun Seong vs Kazama Kanzuki
Siegfried vs Haohmaru
Leixia vs Suzu
Cervantes vs Hanzo
Z.W.E.I vs Hidan
Viola/Amy vs Angelica
Raphael vs Killian

BOSS CHARACTERS

Soul Calibur Nightare, Elysium, Algol
Samurai Shodown Mizuki, Asura, Gaoh

Play style: Controls are like Soul Calibur, but the Samurai Shodown characters will have a playstle that feels familiar with people who played Samurai Shodown Edge of Destiny, but making a lot of the SS cast moves more easier to do and less stiff

Armor Break: Soul Calibur 4 style

Supers: The ease of Soul Calibur 5, but like Samurai Shodown their are levels of supers a characters can do. Also when a character is hit by a super, similar to Samurai Shodown that fighter weapon will fall out their hand. Regardless they can easily get their weapon back by walking next to it

Slash. I personally like the slash that takes away a crap load of life, but if the games cross that would have to go. Also NO fatalities. Meaning Ivy won't lose a limb or having to see the horror of Leixia being beheaded. Although blood animation would be nice.

Combos: Soul Calibur was never a combo crazy game, but with the SS cast it needs to be to give it a more SS touch.

Story and stages will be something I discuss later if this topic gets enough post. Anyways this is my take, but I wish to hear your takes my fellow 8wayrun posters. Peace and take care.

Edge of Destiny was fucking garbage. It turned SS into a worse version of SC with bad ripoffs of Afro Samurai and other anime characters. These two series should never, ever mix. SS is all about spacing and getting high damage off of good reads with slow but effective attacks, like a real sword fight.

^ I felt that way too, but once I played the game it wasn't all that bad. It's a personal dream of mine, but I honestly respect your view too Vulcan. Besides like how SNK fix KOF 13 from KOF 12, the same can be done with SSEOD.

Honestly, hell yes! I mean, I understand what Vulcan422 is saying but this is probably the only game series I'd want to see crossover with Soul Calibur. It has pretty much the same standard concept of Soul Calibur being a strictly weapon based fighting game. I never played Edge of Destiny (Don't have a 360) but I'm sure the game isn't that bad.... (I hope?). I mean, sure it might be different but it's like how Tekken is different from Virtua Fighter/Dead Or Alive/Bloody Roar. And there really aren't that many weapon based fighting games today. Mortal Kombat kind of does have them but it emphasizes more hand to hand in my opinion which is why I wouldn't want to see a Mortal Kombat crossover with Soul Calibur (plus, it's too gory... It would piss off the MK fans seeing their beloved characters not ripping off *insert body part here*).

So yeah, I would be all for a Soul Calibur vs Samurai Showdown crossover. The only other game I would be interested seeing crossover with SC is Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors... :/

I think it could have worked back in the 90's, but not anymore, mainly for the following reasons:
  • Samurai Showdown is pretty damn old. It wouldn't attract that many people.
  • The games play too differently. Especially the latest installments of SC.
  • Most characters are just too similar to each other (Mitsu and Haohmaru, for example).
For now, just make SS CaS.

Samurai Showdown is pretty damn old. It wouldn't attract that many people.
Now that is false, or else you wouldn't be seeing these characters in crossovers. Better yet, you wouldn't be seeing games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, who are much older than Samurai Showdown.

However, there are much more reasons to it not being an option:

-Timeline (SS starts in the late-18th century, while the current Soul Calibur starts in the early-17th century)
-SS has blood and gore.
-Some characters (Xiba, Leixia) don't have these super powers that others from SC and pretty much every SS character has.

What does time line matter? The game wouldn't be canon. Now since enough people has posted to my satisfaction, here my little non canon story. While Ivy is messing around the Astral Home once again to hopefully destroy Soul Edge once and for all, Ivy senses anouther being tempering with the realm. That being is no other than Yuga The Destroyer and will a living Shiki by his side. Yuga orders Shiki to attack Ivy while he can start merging the two realms together. The reason Yuga is doing all this for he wants to kidnap Natsu and release Arahabaki and to obtain it's great powers for herself. Ivy defeats Shiki and goes to face Yuga. Despite Ivy's best efforts, Yuga proves to be too much of an opponetn for Ivy. Knowing she cannot defeat Yuga, Ivy chants a spell that will merge both the SC and SS world together along with Ivy delivering a telepathic message to the destined souls of a worldy evasion. Now with both worlds combine and with each warriors with their own motives may the clash of souls begin.

Already been done:

Look at Seung Mina grabbing her opponent and is about to throw her over her shoulder or something.
