Star Ocean - The Last Hope: International

I played though the 360 version (English). In my opinion, its a good game with all that you expect from a JRPG type of game. The good thing there arent any random encounters. The voice acting wasnt that great but like most English dubbed anime you'll eventually get used to it. Story overall is typical JRPG/anime with Japanese cultural influences. Fight sequences are turn based but there are some nice fighting action with some freedom of movement in the gameplay. More on strategy I would say than rampant button mashing. The cutscenes are cool both real time and prerendered. Overall its a good JRPG, and IMO, better than other rpgs I played like Las Remnant, Blue Dragon or Infinite Undiscovery.

I guess if you never played this game before then getting the International Version on the PS3 would be a welcome thing, since you'll be able to choose the original Japanese language if you prefer. FFXIII however is due soon as well.

Question about this this game:

This game is a prequel to all the other games correct? So, if I play Star Ocean: The Last Hope first, Star Ocean: First Departure second, and Star Ocean: Second Evolution third... will I be playing the games in chronological order?

Yes +ten characters

No skytoast this game is not turn-based. There are never "turns". The free movement that SO4 has makes it one of the best fighting systems imo. All of the characters were memorable and I recommend it to those who won't have a heart attack because an RPG isn't perfect. I might pick up the PS3 version. I played it on my bro's 360.

sorry I stand corrected =). It's not real time as in "Zelda" real time. Yes Mikosu is right about free movement during battles. But commands are still cycled among the team.

Last Hope: International?

why they always have whack titles like that and TILL THE END OF TIME

it sounds so corny

This.

I really enjoyed the graphics and story, so far this game was one of the best RPGS ive played for the 360.

Got this early (in Taiwan right now) so I can say its a blast. It never gets -as- repetitive as some other jRPG's do, and you clock in so many hours on this. At its best, it's a good RPG. At its worst, it's a time-killer till FF13. :p
