Hello all!

Hopefully by now most of you are familiar with the Target Practice series I've been working on (check out the videos here if you haven't).

Pretty soon I'll be starting a new series within Target Practice focusing entirely on questions from you the community! In a Q&A style I'll be going over your inquiries and demonstrating solutions to the problems you present in video form. The focus here will be character/matchup knowledge and system usage (Quick Step, Just Guard, GI, etc...) but it definitely won't be limited to that.

So what do I need from you?

Could you show an example of doing lab work? Defeating Algol's 6BB setup, perhaps.
Then increase the difficulty, how to get out of 2B+K B setup

Question: I could use anti Voldo advice. Specifically against his BT stance. I just can never tell what's coming. Are there any moves (especially of Natsu's) that beat most or all of his options?

Sorry if that isn't specific enough, but I don't know Voldo well enough to ask an intelligent question.

I have a system usage question, but I think I'm going to ask Namco Bandai myself, unless you guys are patching the game now releasing updates & fixing the movement/attack glitches that exist now! Time & Effort down the drain...

Also. Im ashamed to admit it. But JG. I cant get a good feeling for this. I usually just do it on accident. A nice video (even tho aris has a nice one. But I still dont get it)) explaining exactly what it entails.

Here's a relatively simple way to look at it:

Press and release G as quickly as possible to "JG" everything for the next tenth of a second (6 frames)

After touching G for any reason, whether holding to Guard, tapping to Just Guard, or just mushing it 'cause your thumb is fat, you cannot JG for half a second (30 frames).

That being said, if HOLDING G, the timer for a JG starts when you PRESS G, not when you release. This is why you can hold guard then JG only the last hit of a string so you can punish. This makes it much easier to apply JG, since you don't have to parry every single strike in a sequence.


Lastly, the most basic form of "Option Select" for Just Guard is to tap and release G, then HOLD G to block after precisely 6 frames (this is when your active JG window ends). If you use the JG too early or your opponent does something unexpected, you'll still be safe from harm while applying a powerful defensive tool. You can even use this when already blocking. Here are some sample inputs.

It's too bad this thread doesn't get more attention. It's not every day that a top player will offer advice and help step people's games up for them...
