Probably ineffective against slimes. But would mow down a Bleary and a Crawly no problem.

That seems more like it murders monsters vs tames them.

Many of these definitions fit the concept of murdering = taming. For instance, if the Gau gun killed a monster. It would leave that monster "5. spiritless or pusillanimous." and also leave that monster "4. lacking in excitement; dull; insipid:".
