The 2B opinion thread

Heya everyone! So 2b was announced and everyone is happy. OR ARE THEY?!
Yea, a lot of people are very excited to see her, and a lot of people are quite salty about it.

So I guess to keep the saltiness from leaking into other threads, I started this one. I'd prefer it wasn't a "bitch about 2b thread" but I'm not able to stop it so welp.
I'm half excited and half worried to see the reactions

Myself, I was kinda annoyed at the inclusion, but people's enthusiasm is kind of infectious. I'm looking forward to her, even if I am a tad worried bout the immersion. I'm also hype about her CaS style, to see if I can make a believable in-universe explanation

Kayane's been bringing up 2B for a long time while promoting the game. I do wonder if 2B was developed post announcement during the 9 month hype train. Nier Auto. was released in Feb 2017, and SCVI was announced in early Dec 2017. So we're looking at 10 months where it'd be savvy to get 2B organized, and almost 10 more where public opinion echos "the obvious". (Assuming there were little to no internal plans prior to the release of N:A) All while 'they're' making Tira. And polishing the game for release. In reflection, I guess I'm jonesing for a 'making of'.

Bottom line: I don't think 2B's inclusion was based on hearing the fans out - and without evidence of any sort - my mind gives SCVI the benefit of foresight, that 'they' set to invite best sellers and it's a calculated risk if it's what people still want. My suspicion rests in the unrealistic expectations fans may grow believing 2B and perhaps others happen after servings of spam. I get UI changes being patched upon player input, but a whole character seems like a damn big commitment.

Kayane explains in a video that the first time she asked Okubo in January, Project Soul were already in talks to get her in the game. So they probably thought about her from the get go.

As someone who liked the ridiculousness of lightsabers and Star Destroyers being in SC4 (but not Yoda), and as a fan of Nier: Automata, I am quite happy about 2B and her stage. But for whatever reason, I never really wanted her either. I'd personally prefer Velvet or Yuri from the Tales series, but I know, realistically, they don't have near the recognition or selling power of 2B.

I shouldn't complain, though. This could be like Tekken 7, where I'm 1 for 4 on guests I recognize and I think Noctis is laaaaame.

2B more fair I'm happy with this add, does those $30 of season pass less bad because now I know there have commercial value with another company and this does not always come cheap. however I hope don't see more Nier Automata chars in SC, if they put Nier Automata vs Soul Calibur VI perhaps there can have 9S and A2... and I really want see Cassandra and Hwang.

I don’t care for the character or guests in general but what ever gets people talking about sc is fine with me.

I feel slightly bad for the guy who has to add all the 2B porn to the soulcaliber rule 34...on second thought he's probably having a "blast" doing it lol

I don't really care either way as I've never played NieR: Automata. On one hand, she does look a bit too futuristic moveset and stage-wise (it's that droid she has with her), albeit not as horribly clashing as the Star Wars characters. On the other, she does look to have a pretty cool moveset, she's a new female character (the first female guest to boot!), and she seems to be getting people to buy the game. My friend, who likes fighting games but prefers 2D ones, really loves NieR: Automata, and 2B's inclusion is getting him to buy the game (though he said he'd rather have a character called A2)

I have to say, the reaching across the isle with the guest characters this time around is actually kind of amazing. I had some interest in playing The Witcher 3 and NieR: Automata before, but just had other games I wanted to play first, and definitely not interested enough to buy them even at their current prices (I just don't have a lot of money, I saved up to get SCVI). Now that they're in SCVI, and to see the love and attention their respective companies seem to be giving them in terms of working with Project Soul, in order to bring their characters as accurate as possible to the game, makes me want to try their games. I can't really say that about any of the other guests that have been in previous games.
