The purpose of Whiffing

What is the purpose of whiffing? I've seen it mentioned before so I just want to know if it's a legit mind tactic or is it just bad in general.

...risky tactic... it baits a response from your opponent. You have to make sure you're at an ideal range/placement depending on what move you're pulling out after the whiffed move.

I use it sometimes as another 'wildcard' ...but like I said... Its risky.

Back in SC2 & 3 I used to practically spam Yun's 44B and 44B[G] at very far range to great success at local tournies; baiting people into all sorts of things.

But like geejay said if you are going to do that kinda thing you need to have pretty much expert range judgement and a good plan if your gonna do that sort of thing.

The purpose of whiffing is losing to Nightmare.

Chuck Norris whiffs for the sole purpose of keeping his opponent's belief in possible victory alive.

I whiff because I hope they'll charge into it....... but they don't always.

can be quite useful, especially with auto GI supers especially or to open up really reaction based opponents.
