Tira - Video and Discussion Thread

It just proves to me now that tiers are null and void. Decopon wiped the floor with Shen Chan.

Hopefully Tira can win EBO. I'M COUNTING ON YOU HYRUL :D

Hah well thanks. Pretty sure everyone will be doing their homework on her in the meantime! But congrats to Decopon, he is a great player, and the Japanese had been naming him as an outstanding player for some time.

For those talking about counterpicks, imo the counterpick for Tira is either Pyrrha

I want you to win it for England :P

I thought Pyrrha Omega would have been a good counterpick

you should've seen it in SC4.....i discovered loops to stay in GS, but i kept my mouth shut because SCV was around the corner. Not to mention these loops were in the game purposely to help the player and they are in SCV :D

the ignorance :D

but seriously there was a lot of stuff that people missed in SC4.....anyway...... yeah

EDIT: i wouldnt really call them loops....or um i guess....maybe

Just rewatched that Tiraping and was reminded by how frustrated the announcers' lack of Tira knowledge made me.

I think they're nicknames for some of her attacks were funny though (Can-Can, Broadway, Cannon Drill).

Can Can = Parrot Scratch :6::6::k:

Cannon Drill = Hiisi Gigue Cannon :6::6::6::b:

What was Broadway? Lol

They're names were hilarious :P

Players did have one entire day to practice if they needed and was fully aware of what characters they would face. Character ignorance would be something stupid to claim in that situation.
I don't think it's an excuse, but I think ignorance of Tira was an important factor in the outcome overall. It takes more than just a day to adjust to a character at that level of play and it gave Decopon an advantage at certain points in his pressure. I mean, Something Unique's match wasn't just him getting bodied. You don't get that look of absolute despondency unless you feel like you're missing something completely.

That being said, the fact that Shining Decopon could wrangle Tira through thick and thin demonstrated something beyond normal player skill. I mean, Tira is basically the only character in the current set of fighting games that screws herself at random and requires crisis management to get back to optimal strength.

I'm glad this game is honest enough to where characters with inconsistencies can still succeed with raw skill.

Well Shen Chan displayed a decent amount of Tira knowledge by standing and blocking after 236K BE. Some people roll and get hit by 66B afterwards. He was also punishing her attacks when he could. Kept her from changing persona with Cervantes Gunshot.

Decopon was just making the right choices and escaping his mixups almost every time. Tira also has the damage to keep up with any other character. Especially good at outright killing people when they are just a little bit shy of the yellow health bar. 66B is amazing at closing out a round.

I'm not discounting other players not being as knowledgable as Shen Chan but the onus is on those other players. Also SU sent Decopon into losers quite convincingly on Friday.

Well, shen chan KNEW Tira better than the other.

BUT S-U sent Decopon in losers allright but.. Decopon's gameplay was like totally different.

Like he hide his skill before top 8 in purpose. I was on the chat and everybody was like: well, tira's gonna get kicked, she wasn't so good, and then thez saw and.. well, it's a different story.

Oh BTW, this wall combo is pretty hard to pull, been trying it and well, the A+B timing is pretty hard. Ididn't know this wall combo so i'm training it, for sure =)Way better than the usual 3B 3B 3B 66AA i was doing haha.

As for matchup knowledge.. The Mitsurugi player probably didn't expect to lose to Tira with his imbalanced character. So many mistakes.. It's a fact. Decopon is a great player that's for sure, and i'll steal some of the things he does, haha.

True. I applaud his victory with showing more skill with Tira than I probably will ever have. While I too will admit citing lack of match up knowledge against Tira for her wins in the past, it is clear Decopon knows how to play. I stand corrected, astonished, humbled, and impressed.

Only argument I can give for players was this is their first time ever confronting Decopon and his Tira and were too caught up in his (splendid) mind games to adapt. Either way, I am retracting a majority of my previous statements (save her lack of Clean Hits, which should have been rewarded) on her gameplay. I was wrong.

Tira with a bunch of clean hits in Gloomy would be like pre-patch Maxi lol. Having a good bit of clean hits only associated with her Jolly side would be a decent buff I guess.

I do like how Decopon used the taunt cancel to switch into Gloomy and if you tried to interrupt he would 66AA you. It was something I was fooling around with til I realized Tira and me didn't mesh well. I would have opted for something safer than 66AA though.
