I really don't read much fiction at all... I used to read more fiction in high school and liked John Donne a lot.

Damn, looking at my book case, I don't read any fiction at all. Most of my non-fiction comes in the form of video-games. So...I don't really have an anything of all time, but the books I enjoyed most most recently were, in no particular order.

White Like Me
The Elegant Universe
Nerds: Who They Are and Why We Need More of Them
Mexican American Girls and Gang Violence: Beyond Risk
Defending Humanity: When Force Is Justified and Why

Being all the rave while I was in the Army, I do have On Combat and On Killing and wanted to finish both of them but people always want to borrow those (I think I was about halfway done with both of them...I may have finished On Killing, actually...and remember it being pretty decent).

Yeah, I tend to read more about things having to deal with quantum mechanics, sociology (also read a ton on porn and pornstars. Pornstars, the actual people and their lives outside of porn- before, during, and after it- are one of my biggest areas of interest), and psychology. Not against fiction of anything, but I really have to like the characters AND the plot to be into a fictional book (probably also the reason I have so many RPG and action games that I've yet to complete).

I haven't had much time to read because of school, but I did buy 400+ dollars worth of books earlier this year.

Oh yeah! I wanna read the Parasite Eve book, even though it sounds silly! I'd probably like the Dragon Age and Mass Effect books, had my Warden/Hawke and Shepherd been the protagonists, too. =(

Oh yeah, one book I recommend to ANYONE is Thomas Hobbes Leviathan. I used to be much more into philosophy until I took it in college.

Okay! Last edit! But I can't mention Leviathan without mentioning Sun Tzu Art of War and Mao's On Guerilla Warfare for some reason! Possibly because I was in Afghanistan when I read it, but I appreciate Mao's book much, much more.

DUUUUUUDEEE!!!!

I was going to Rant about how everyone here shouldn't even be wasting time on Fiction. Get some Good Non-Fiction and...LEARN SUMPIN!!

But Dude. You Said Elegnat Universe. String Theory. Brian Greene.

Read Fabric of Cosmos, and his newest, Hidden Realities!!

Plus my Books on Ancient Anstronauts (Graham Hancocks Fingerprints of the Gods) Daniel Pinchbecks 2012, The Holographic Principle, the Secret History of Consciousness, The Secret of the Ark, I could go on....

BOOKS FTW!!! Quantum Mechanics and Spirituality FTW!! DUDE!!1

I actually have Fabric of the Cosmos (I've gotten a lot of books because most of the Borders around here seem to be closing down). I'll definitely read those this summer. Looking at your list, though, just by title alone, the Secret of the Ark, History of Consciousness, and Fingerprints of the Gods seem like some stuff that I'd like a lot. I really don't have too many around here who like the same type of books and whatnot I do, so I pretty much just read stuff online and go to bookstores and look at titles and grab stuff I think I might like. It's how I got this horrible Pronoia book, but it works most of the time. =P

Thinking about it, a fiction book I've been looking for for YEARS but never found is And the Ass Saw the Angel.

Plus my Books on Ancient Anstronauts (Graham Hancocks Fingerprints of the Gods) Daniel Pinchbecks 2012, The Holographic Principle, the Secret History of Consciousness, The Secret of the Ark, I could go on....

i thought you said you weren't into fiction.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

knowledge of crazies will only make you join them. you have it all wrong. it is the truth that will set you free...and that is nowhere in sight.

Oh yeah, I read the Bookseller of Kabul while I was in Afghanistan also. While not nonfiction, I'd just like to note that, for anyone who may read it, the 'rural' areas of Afghanistan don't have anywhere near the number of luxuries that Kabul has. I really want to adopt an Afghani girl when I get older...but they don't allow for adoption. =(

World War Z is one of em', Eldest...(Eragons' second book), Jack and the beanstalk (Disney's YA version..).
More but I can't remember... HUGE books btw..

Anything by Tolkien or H.P. Lovecraft
Personally recommend The Curious Case of Dexter Ward.

1984
Catch 22
Brave New World
Everything is Illuminated
The Unbearable Lightness of Being

As a physicist any book or person who starts discussing New Age spiritual crap using quantum mechanics makes me want to puke. In all likelihood whoever writes these books knows nothing about quantum mechanics and should be shot.

Hahahah Really?!?!? As a Physicist?! Do you even know anything about Spirituality?! Just calling it New Age means you don't know what you're talking about.

And, um, have you heard of quantum entanglement (ie spooky action at a distance). Have you heard of wave particle duality?! Have you heard of the Holographic principle?! The Grand observer??! Parallel Realities?! No?! Because QM shows that the world we "Know" is NOTHING like we know it.

Did you know Entropy is dependent on Surface Area, Not Volume?! As if Reality is one grand projection, "Maya", Illusion...

Nobody is using QM to explain Spirituality. its just that all the "Crazy" things that was said by Hinduism and other old "texts" seem to be perfectly in line with Quantum Physics.

I don't even think you undertsand spirituality, documented miracles, Levels of Consciousness.

So start puking bro.

DINO, man, EVERYONE is using quantum physics to explain spirituality. They put out an entire propaganda piece called What the Bleep do We Know." The Secret deals with quantum physics as well. It's classic god of the gaps; scientists say they don't really know -- or the people listening don't get a simple enough explanation -- and they start cramming their ideals into any open space they find.

Also, quantum physics doesn't do what New Age people think it does. It's not an excuse to say everything is connected and all that, and it's not about everything being random or not. They forget (or don't bother to care) that the main thrust of quantum physics deals with shit so small that it doesn't impact our physical reality in any meaningful way (that we understand). Which is why it doesn't automatically discount classic Newtonian (aka macro) physics. Because even though particles and waves and all that shit happens at a quantum level, macro physics still work the way they're supposed to. Which should be sufficient reason to take quantum physics bullshit for what it is.

But none of them actually USE QM to explain Metaphysics. They just show the parallels, and how the two can be met at a middle ground.

What The Bleep is Hardly "Propaganda". and QM was only a part of the bigger picture. But what you cannot doubt are the connections they show. And actually, yea QM states that WE ALL must have been one, if the "Big Bang" happened or if we have been expanding for so long.

Everyone here really needs to understand the holographic principle, to understand what I'm talking about.

Because if we weren't all one at one point, or if QM particles ARE NOT CONNECTED at some level, you will have a hard time explaining Wave Particle Duality, Quantum Entagnlement, Or anything in QM.

We live in a Non-Local Universe ie You can have information travel FASTER THAN LIGHT. ie INSTANTANEOUS.

And hey, they accomplished a double slit experiment with BuckyBalls (C60 Carbon). Thats 60X12x3=2160 Particles the Went through both slits At the Same time, and interacted with itself.

So the QM tidbits are beginning to creep into the macroscopic world.

First off, you're getting it wrong about information.

Yes, if you influence part of a particle from a distance it will change a particle at another location at what could be faster than the speed of light. But there's a VERY important clause to put in there: it is IMPOSSIBLE to transfer information using any method people have come up with -- any real information transferred between 2 points is still bound by classic speed limits. Scientists have been doing experiments on this for a very long time and nobody has been able to even come up with a viable model for information transfer via quantum entanglement, instead they come up with reasons why it will probably keep being impossible.

And if fact What the Bleep do we Know is 100% pseudoscience propaganda. There are many sources for this. It's pretty much an infomercial for a really dumb cult.

I mean, you do realize that it was produced and directed by 3 members of this cult, and that one of the main figures in the movie is the leader of the cult, J. Z. Knight, aka Ramtha, a person so insane that she thinks she's channelling the spirit of a 35k year old general named Ramtha.

Seriously. This woman believes that she is channelling the spirit of a dude who had an of 2.5 million dudes and who fought the fucking Atlanteans 35000 years ago. And she's one of the main "expert sources" used in the movie.

You're smarter than that.

Yea I know about that woman. I'm always skeptical about stuff like that, but really it doesn't matter. What matters is that content, and wether what she speaks resonates with you.

But really, What The Bleep has alot of quality info, don't know how you can deny that.

Also, I live and breath quantum mechanics. Again, NO ONE is using QM to EXPLAIN the Spirit. They simply draw parallels. If there is one case where they say "This in QM is/causes that in Spirituality" I would know about it.

It has been PROVEN that we live in Non-Local universe. Just because WE can't send information instantaneously doesn't mean it doesnt happen.

Also, with Near Death Experiences, Out of Body Experiences, Past Life Regression, Astral Projection, DMT Studies, it is CLEAR, that whats in front of us is not what it seems.

Everything IS Consciousness. All just at different levels. Consciousness is a Technology. It is the ONLY technology.

Do more Research.
