Yeah it does. They said they were doing it to get an idea of which characters the fans like. I'm sure they won't base the entire roster around that survey but they're not just going to ignore the results either.

A small poll with poorly explained rules for a small part of the community, it doesn't mean anything.

Again, they said they would be using the poll to help them figure out which characters people want to see going forward. They wouldn't have done that if they weren't planning to use it for anything.
 
They said too much and did too little about the "future of Soul Calibur", that poll happened long ago, and its still based on a minority's opinion.

They specifically said "vote for the future of Soulcalibur", "Project Soul needs to hear your voice", and "With your help we can make the future bright and hopeful". Also, what do you mean "the minority of fans"? Yeah, I'm sure there's a bunch of Patroklos fans out there that somehow missed the poll to vote for their favorite character, not.

@Nyte just remember 3 things...Macaulyn has absolutely no handle on tourney logistics or rules, despite what he says he doesn't actually provide rock-solid proof and is about as speculatory as casual-fags can be, will try to force his own opinions down other people throats and will throw 4 responses at you 1) "THEY CAN BE BALANCED!!! 2)WAAAAAAAAAAH!!! 3) <insert insult here> 4) shut up/shut the fuck up <insert name here>

If that poll reached 5000 votes total, its a hell lot. The playerbase contains infinitely more people than what that poor excuse of a poll can hope to represent.

Actually, double that number. I counted and there were 10,386 votes cast in total. Nice job avoiding my response by the way. They made it clear in all but name that the poll was for SCVI. 10K may not seem like much, but it's a big enough number to get a general consensus of what the community wants.

Hell no, it doesn't, how many copies do SC games sell? That is the general community number, not a few thousands. The poll doesn't represent the community in any way, and even if the community as a whole doesn't do something like causing Rock to skyrocket to the top, a lot of placements would change regardless, and that is what make it unreliable. The poll is 10% at best, and that is me being generous.
 
Dude, there are way bigger studies done to get a consensus with smaller numbers than that. While I don't think Namco is going to use the poll entirely to determine the roster, that's certainly going to be a big point of reference.
 
Namco said they would be using the survey to help them decide the future of the series. That's what they said. It doesn't matter if you think the sample size was too small or the rules were too hard to understand. They said they're using it. Now maybe when SC6 comes out Patroklos & crew will be back and if that happens the rest of us will be eating our words and shaking our heads. We'll see but until then I'm gonna take what they said at face value. There's no reason to believe they would bring back such a widely disliked character.
 
Actually nobody does have any proof, so arguing is quite pointless until we have at least SOMETHING at our hands.
But to Macaulyn: there is such thing exists - representative sample - we don't really need to ask EVERY SINGLE CONSUMER to more or less understand estimated percentage distribution of opinions. So yes this survey could influence actual final roster for SCVI.
