Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

I'm sure hulk will call Racoon a Squirel and Phoenix a lawyer or something. The PW one will be hard to come up with I think.

I like Nova! He seems pretty fun to play and seems to have a fairly decent amount of options also being able to self OTG and combo right after will be some awesomness.

Anywho I've been working on Doom and I'm conflicted on whether or not to use him in Ultimate since I don't want to just on the Doom bandwagon. I mean I've liked his combo's and the way he plays but now that he will be Wolvering + zoning I don't know.

Play the characters that you are deeply interested in. High tier or low tier, if you have fun with that character, and win with them, no one can take that away from you. Connection to the character is the basis behind many teams in Marvel, such as players like MarlinPie, K Beast, and Chrisis constructing teams around Viper, or Combofiend and Chris G just playing characters they like that happen to work well together. If you like Doom, use Doom. All there is to it.

Well, that's pretty crazy. Seems like there's almost no reason why she shouldn't be on the screen at all times now. She's basically a free Haggar assist, from what I can tell.

The balance here is that PW can't do anything offensively mid-far screen (even keepaway) while in investigation stance. He needs Maya + assist to have enough time to collect evidence.

When he gets into courtroom and turnabout stance, he also loses Maya as well.

Ohhh I see. Well that makes more sense. For a second I thought things were gonna get crazy.

I thought Hulk only had names for characters that were way too different. Like Ammy and Dorm. He doesn't have a call for everyone does he?

These are Hulk's unique call names for his teammates.

  • Iron Man - Metal Man
  • Captain America - Cap
  • Wolverine - Puny Man
  • Dormammu - Flame Head
  • She-Hulk - Jen
  • Viewtiful Joe - Funny Helmet Man
  • Felicia - Cat Girl
  • Thor - Goldilocks
  • Morrigan - Goth Girl
  • Sentinel - Robot
  • Amaterasu - Dog
  • X-23 - Claw Girl
  • Super-Skrull - Lizard Guy
  • M.O.D.O.K. - Big Head
  • Mike Haggar - Muscle Head
  • Shuma-Gorath - Starfish
  • Taskmaster - Skull Head
  • Nemesis - Ugly Face

Phoenix Wright

  • (vs. She-Hulk) "Ms. Walters; you're a witness!"
  • (vs. all villains) "Give up your life of crime!"
I can't believe this is all he has for special quote. Even though there are about 4 or 5 characters that trash on his ass. Great way to defend yourself Nick.

He's a lawyer. He doesn't know how to put people on blast without evidence. Someone could make a "your mom" joke and he'd ask for witnesses and fingerprints.

LOL. At least he is a solid character.
Solid? Maybe, but I don't see him being a big threat past mid-level play. Since we know he loses Maya (Which is arguably his best defensive tool) after leaving investigate stance, all you have to do is just get in there, stick to him like glue, and he's done. Not to mention that he seems like he can be very easily outzoned. That dagger projectile is really nice, but what are you gonna do with that against characters like Viper, Hawkeye, Doom, Magnus, Dorm, Dante, etc.? All the zoning these characters are capable of is more than enough to open up Wright. And if you keep him at fullscreen the whole time, he's not landing the objection move that gives him access to his best stuff.

You do realize you just contradicted yourself here right?

Keep him away or rush him down -- pick one.

Well, seeing as both would work against him (in theory), then I'd say he sucks anyway, so you can just approach the match however is best for your team. A little note though: rushing down would probably be best while he's in Investigate Stance, and then zoning him out when he can actually attack. Because if he doesn't land that Objection, then again, he doesn't get his best tools. I'd probably just run in and kill him before he could gather all his evidence, to be honest.

Well...I think his style is so unique that he is going to confuse and I sense he has a deadly mix up game and has legit keep away tools. Even though h has to hit objection to get his best stuff. He is still a very solid character that can build meter, rape without using x factor, and is just plain fucking cool.

Anyway....in other news Morrigan is A LOT better.

Except for the fact that she has no ground dash so cannot block while dashing. She's going to be free for zoners.
Yeah I read that. They said the tridash nerf wasn't big though. Yuo sure a slight nerf fucks a lot characters? And free for zoners? I didn't see a lot of zoning team in MvC3. I saw Phoenix teams and team that can kill you in one go.

Not entirely. Outside of gathering the evidence, he's rather straightforward, so I don't see this mixup game you're talking about. Every Wright player will have probably the same strat: Get to Turnabout stance ASAP, just like every how Phoenix player has the same basic gameplan of getting to 5 bars by the time Phoenix comes out. He definitely has some good stuff, but he's gonna get opened up by at least half the cast. Especially if they can nail him while he's still in Investigate.

Don't get me wrong, he looks fine, certainly not Hsien-Ko tier. I just don't see him as any sort of threat, and probably won't until some stupid obscure tech is found on him (Which is doubtful as well).

There's very few teams built around zoning in MvC3.0, but that's really only because rushdown is rewarded more heavily, and not many people like laming the opponent out. If you want to try a zoning team in 3.0 though, I'd suggest Mag/Doom/Sent. You can literally mash Disruptor while calling Drones and Missiles all day, then run left-right mixups with Mag's tri-dash whenever you feel like it. You really shouldn't even need to have Sent on point 75% of the time, considering how solid Mag and Doom are together.
