What do you think your strengths and weaknesses as a player are?

In order to become better at anything in life, we have to look at what we do well and where we are lacking. Forgot what exactly made me want to ask this question but I am very interested in the answers.

As I came up with my own answers, I realized that some of the things that I consider strengths can also be weaknesses and vice versa.

Either way, I'm hungry and about to eat, so I'll think about this more and then post up.

Keep in mind, neither of these things has to be something restricted to in game and can be something tangible or intangible.

Great thread...

My main weakness if that whenever I lose the first round I tend to play more reckless cause I'm not good at handling negative scores.

I think that im my weakness is getting frustrated when someone got lucky in the last battle. Then I tend to lose more if i dont catch my self on what im doing wrong.

I think my main weakness is that me being an old fuck, and have had my share of sex drugs, more drugs, drinkin and rock n roll. My reation times for things just arent what they used to be compared to when I was younger.

Back in the arcade days I could sniff out blanka comin at me with his spinning flying ball charge thingy and jab your ass right outta it. But now I just dont have it in me anymore.

Let this be a lesson kids. Dont do drugs. or, dont do to many drugs. It WILL effect you later in life.

Despite being a Pyrrha player, I'm awful against her. Which is against looogggggiiiiicccc.

I guess I'm bad when I'm the one getting rushed down :(

I'm lazy. That's my weakness, I don't study match up's or really look into my character like I should. Honestly I'm surprised I do as well as I do at tournaments considering the lack of general knowledge I have.

I haven't trained hard enough with frame-delay. That, and I ignore certain moves to avoid being stale even though I really need them.

My strentghs......

Im so familiar with maxi that Im able to keep track of what stance Im in, what stance is coming and what stance I just left out of. Keeping up with 5 stances in itself is no easy feat. And I also pride myself on being able to break throws better than most

Now rather I utilize those stances like I should.....would be one of my weaknesses.

HAHA suck it LP

Strengths? I guess I'm good at countering mix-ups. Being Viola, I give people a lot of pressure, and throw them off their game.

My strenghts:
I know how to counter against almost every character, since I am a veteran Sophitia player i'm very familiar with the counter attacks
I also can easily block the grabs

My weaknesses:
I tend to over-attack so i'm very vulnerable
I get very nervous
I can't understand siegfried stances

I have no idea where I'm weak besides my defense being the worst ever and I have no idea where I'm strong. That's why I suck (not joking) and will never get better because people like LP won't yeah me anything.

Oh, I do have tendency to fall into patterns and will do the same shut over and over even though I know it'll fuck me up our won't work.

I feel your pain bruh. I feel your pain.

^THIS.....this be my problem to!!

Yeah these punk ass kids have finally gotten past this old man. Even my son beats my ass and then looks at me like "Really dad? Did you just really let me hit you with that?" "No son, I didnt, your just faster than me."

Ive grown to accept it now. All I can do is support the games I love.

Strength: Since i'm a Natsu player I know how to counter a lot with her and my combos acquire the counter moves.

Good topic!

My strengths... I don't believe I have a lot. Dunning-Kruger at play? Who knows...
I'm good at (shamelessly) copying other people, and I study a lot. I have little tournament experience, but I cover the rest by working theories and observing good players, and carefully studying game mechanics and matchups. I've heard people say my defense is alright but I think most of that is studying gimmicks and strings so that they won't work on me. (Honestly, I don't study enough, I should be studying more...)
I consider myself fairly patient compared to most players. (I'll lie on the ground before getting up, I'm content to win by time out or play the spacing game forever, etc.)
I'm cheap, I play dirty. I'm not above using "scrub tactics" to win, I call them "pro strats".

I'm not afraid to spam.

No, really.

I'm serious.

My weaknesses... I have poor reactions. I'm lazy... I can't play high-execution characters. I'm not very good at adapting quickly... I'm inexperienced compared to the OGs (but I guess that's everybody else too?)
I live in the middle of nowhere so online is all I get ._.

I don't consider myself a great player, I figure I just know a couple of things. Some people say "no you're awesome!" to which I'd say that you'd probably be better than me at the game if you knew what I knew. (which is why I write guides and things now, I think there are great players just waiting to pop up on stream, it's just nobody has showed them how the game works.)

Despite being a Pyrrha player, I'm awful against her. Which is against looogggggiiiiicccc.
No no, that's quite logical. Playing as is much different from playing against. Even if you have a friend that plays a character you know well or mirror matches you, playing other players who use the same character can be a completely different experience.

In SCIV I was an Amy player and my teacher was an Amy player. I went to Houston regionals and was defeated by DevilJim who was playing Amy. Also, I totally choked. Man, that video's nasty to watch now.

I beat myself up over it at the time, but the thing is I really did not know the matchup at all, or any matchup for that matter.

Everyone just ignored the strength part. A lesson to be learned here? =o
Indeed...

It's easier to be negative than it is to be positive. The great thing about it is that it makes gathering matchup data easy, just go into the Soul Arena and look for the people crying the most, they will tell you all of their character's weaknesses.
Thanks guys :D

Strengths: I have really good reaction time and great execution.
Weaknesses: I am recently starting to pick up the ugly habit of ducking frequently. SO MANY LAUNCHERS.

Very much true.

Hmm...

Strengths:
-will use every dirty trick in the book that's legal to win(everything possible within the confines of the game itself...even exploits that are considered legal! woohoo!)

-aggressiveness(KILL! KILL! KILL!)
-willingness to improvise and learn new shit
-completely indifferent about victory/defeat

Weaknesses:
-will randomly fail to react to things(like a deer in the headlights -.- )
-doesn't break throws
-aggressiveness is often without control(hello CH combos!)
-...forgetting lots of things...
-poor management of meter
-bad habits(you expect me to *NOT* do Dampierre 623B ~ B+G? You rascals.)
-lack of useful experience
-a wee bit more nihilistic than is useful
-can't settle on a single character
-...forgets he's playing Elysium and uses a slow CE in horrible situations...
-completely indifferent about victory/defeat
