It was confirmed that he died before SCV events. He is still conscious, wandering around for his lost love Amy. Some say he is an apparition or spirit, some say he is Nighty's host, and others say he is fully alive after death (since vampire's are noted to be immortal). We won't know the whole story until namco clears the confusion in the next game. Im happy enough that he's still in the series.

Hey I already gave my blessing when blackrosevale asked for Raphael's hand a while ago.
Btw, many fans say SC4 Raph is really hot and I can see that. Just to caution you blackrosevale: You would probably have better luck with SCV Raph since he is less arrogant and slightly depressed. The SCIV one was in such an enraged vampiric state that he would do anything or kill anyone to create his own world.

Well, hopefully he's immortal. He is not a true vampire since he feeds on essence rather than blood with the ability to possess people.

Maybe it's the style of Soul Calibur 5, but i find the characters much less attractive than I did in 4. Is that odd?

Just to throw this out. In SC3 I prefered 2's look as well. With the exception of Xiangua which i thought was awesome there!

But yeah, I can't look at the SC5 cast as being sexy. Is it because I myself have aged? or is it the art style? I do not know.

Well SCV's females are either teenagers or cougars. Not much of a middle ground. There's no one like Seong Mina for instance. I'm ok with it though, I just pretend Natsu's legal.
 
I was playing SC4 today and I was looking at each character and I just came to realize all the noses looked like shit. o_o ( well not all but some sure did have problems, like Ivy, Cassandra, etc.)
