Congrats to all the placers- good to see Rufus still playing. Wtf happened to Hyunmu?!

It was a great experience, but in my opinion the organization was poor and I hope the next year we will see some changes.
The tournament structure is very stupid and nobody liked that.
Only one enormous bracket, no pools and FT2 from the first round till the grandfinal means that the ones who keep winning are not necessarily the best, a lot of luck is involved too.
If we had the groups great players like Keysona, Synraii and Rikimaru would have surely passed the first round easily, but with a structure like this every challenge is nearly random.

Btw I'm really happy that JAG got third! Astaroth power :D

GGs to Pantocrator, Skyll, Hyrul, Keysona (best Patroklos I've ever seen), Rufus, Sawazuma, Kiradems, Kusanagi, Happy, Dranakal, Synraii, Forn, Rikimaru, Luckybird and all the other guys I've played in these days :)

I agree on the format being stupid.

first to 3 'till grand final sucks, no pools and ridiculous "seeding".

On the second round I had to fight a friend of mine (3v3 team companion) and directly after that he met in losers another italian friend.

And we were like 5 out of 88. Talk about the odds...

Same with the only 2 russians, as I read.

I'm surprised that the solo tournament wasn't in swiss format which is what I was used to seeing in previous years. I'm also surprised at FT3 all the way up to grand finals which is the same format as EVO last year which made for lots of upset faces.

FT3 is too few games when the damage is so high in SCV.

No one can be upset if no one even tried talking to the persons running the event about it before it started. Networking is 99% of everything and usually people running the events are people who don't know or care about calibur

How come Europe doesn't use the ruleset that's on this site?
Because 8wr is not the WGC event organiser. Why is Tougeki FT1? =P

Anyway, GGs to:
Pantocrator, Kerrigan, Fleshmasher, Shining Decapon, Asodimazze, Dranakal, Raziel and everyone else I played. I know its a half arsed shoutout, but I just got off my plane, I have another two hours of travel and work first thing in the morning. Fuck mondays, I hate tuesdays, lol.

FT3 is first to win 3 games. The format was BEST OF 3 or FT2.
SC5 is not that random, Japanese have the same people in finals despite FT1 Single Elim xD

I find pool-less brackets always especially sad for newer players who travel across europe to be out of the tournament in 10 minutes...pity to see WGC switched to this format as well.

I think one aspect which makes EBO so attractive is that new players also get the chance to play quite a lot in the tournament, of course it takes much longer but in 2011 and 2010 it worked like this as well at WGC.

Also really cool to see 8 different chars in top 8. Talking bout balance.

And look at how many people don't want to go to SBO again and called it a joke. People don't pay out the ass to travel halfway across the world, get randomed out, and then travel back. Seriously, I was hype for Cannes 2014 until I realized this shit is FT2. First, Europe takes the liberty of banning viola, now this? It's like you guys just WANT to shit on everyone else.

LP has a point but it seems to me France doesnt really care about SC that much. The whole WGC didnt seem very serious, all the best players of France didnt attend, even though I saw Keev play a local tournament like two months ago he still didnt show up. Saitoh only played in teams. Maxou and the rest didnt show up, no belgium, no switzerland.
Also change of schedule had some germans missing out on the Team Cup 5x5 (thats why team Germany had only 3 ppl by friday)
88 ppl at WGC is also a very small number for a tournament that big. In SC4 generic ranking tournaments had more people.
Sadly, the spanking from Japanese will probably be the final nail to the coffin, instead of giving a motivational boost.

I seriously hope not.

You know, I've been talking the old lady into going to Germany for Oktoberfest for the past two years (would've went last year but saving up for wedding) and there's some castle she wants to see out there. EBO is sounding like a really good idea right now.
