Xiba Non-Gameplay Discussion Thread

Being a huge One Piece fan, Xiba really appeals to me. Xiba seems to be very similar to Luffy. He likes eating meat, seems to have a care free attitude, his taunt is him grabbing his stomach in hunger, and his tone of voice almost sounds like Luffy's.

I will probably end up deciding on temporarily maining either him or Aeon for tournaments until Dampierre gets unbanned. He looks fun.

If Dampierre is added as buyable DLC content later on for those that missed it will that make him playable in tournaments?

Xiba's CE is not as telling as I would like...I wonder how this character will fight normally. The fact he is based on the monkey king makes me think he will use the pole/staff upright (to give him a boost) and will fight mainly with kicks. who knows though till we get more detail.

He'll be purchasable later, so he probably won't be banned for long.
You can't say that for sure. We all assumed that he'll be purchasable later but recently Tago said that they will make him DLC if he's popular enough in tournaments. Which he will obviously be banned from.

Weird. As I recall, the press release regarding the special edition said we'd be getting him sometime later while the special edition purchasers will get first access to him.

EDIT: Sorry for pulling this off-topic again, but we really should try to stick to Xiba. I know we don't have much to go on with him right now, but still, let's try. =)

Something interesting about his battle styles is that it seem like it could be a combination of Mina, Kilik, and Yun's move. He holds his staff pointed down (like Mina), he wields a rod (like Kilik), and his kicks for his CE in the trailer was very reminiscent of Yun's kicks. I don't use Yun but my little bro always spams the upward kick combo on me so I think I recognized it. If he is Yun's and Mina's kid, one of my couple will finally be cannon. Guys, I've had the worst luck when it comes to shipping since they've never came true(ex. points to Xianghua and Kilik). What Kryt said above made alot of sense to me personally and I hope it comes true. :D
Feel free to correct me about comparing Xiba's kicks to Yun's. I said that I don't play Yun, remember.

The kicks are very similar, but what Yun-seong practices is only listed as "natural footwork" so I imagine he can't really teach that to anyone. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I really doubt Xiba is related to Yun-seong in any other way than a few coincidences (plus, Mi-na is likelier to have gotten together with Hwang in the long run, while Yun-seong is somewhat of a younger brother). The crucial evidence isn't really there, as opposed to Viola and her ties with Amy and Raphael.

completely understandable of course. There's not much information released about Xiba. Don't worry, I respect people shipping Hwang and Mina together. It's just different opinions. ^^ As to natural footworks, it could be possible to try and mimic it by watching another fight but it wouldn't be exactly passed on or a real discipline.Anyway, Xiba looks like he's athletic enough to perform/copy the kicks. But again, this is all speculations. I would really question as to why Mina and Yun would abandon their son in the first place if they do become a couple. It'd be surprising if there's an epically sad story behind Xiba's past in the game. I've got to admit, i was sorta sad when I knew kilik wouldn't be coming back becuz of Xiba but im really starting to like this kid. I have a certain fondness for characters who like to eat.

I'm really liking Xiba too since he looks like such a bundle of happiness (that if you squeeze him he'll explode into fireworks I bet). I can say the kicking prowess that Xiba shows must be part of his "monkey king" allusion. So far, we've all discerned that one of his strongest attributes are his foot muscles, which can hold himself up comfortably as seen in his artwork.

Kinda reminds me of Goku back during the origional Dragonball. This kid isn't actually a replacement for Kilik, is he?
