Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny-NEW GAME-

Dude looks like a broke ass Snidely Whiplash. And why is he wearing a big blue ribbon? Tacky.

I'm mad because this definitely means that we will have to wait until SC5 comes out because NB isn't going to do anything for the console version of SC4 and that they are going to cater to the casual fans and not us.

If you think about it, why would NB spend the time, money, and resources fixing/improving this broke game when they can just come out with a new broke game for the PSP to make money off of? Plus it doesn't make sense trying to develop, test, and get through the certification process DLC for a game that the casual players probably traded in already for SF4.

But whatever. I don't care since I don't have a PSP. I would just like to see something done to SC4.

ummm. is it just me.....?
+ whatevers new on this game better be DLC too, or im gonna look mightily pissed off when i buy a shiny new PSP!
(2nd edit: im guessing no, the way he's twirling coins in his fingers, i guess its namcos way of having a good laugh at us)

I can't be the only one who thinks it's a poor marketing decision to include the word "broken" in the title of a fighting game?

Im pretty sure this will more or less be Soul Calibur IV 2.1 on ps3

People need to stop ruling out the possibility, was Tekken 5 DR NOT on psp first?

please let him and the "other" new characters be original not *bonus* characters and please make them DLC, you owe us.

Ps: I actually think he looks kinda cool. Might fight like Taki, well a theif fighting stlye at least.

IIRC, DLC is already existent on the CD. So for this to be in the colsole version it has to already be on the CD, which I doubt.

I think this will be a greatest hits or something. This is basically Calibur DR.

New characters, different lighting for the stages, new music etc etc. I was JUST about to make a topic about what should be in an upgraded SC4, guess we will see.

This release proves to me once again that Namco doesn't care about it's hardcore audience anymore. They will continue to cater to the casual people, releasing shitty games because its the quickest way for them to make a buck.

This is a funny comment to hear from someone who runs SCIV tournaments and the only good SCIV board.
Just saying.
Pls don't use your god powers to permaban me.

Also... Anyone else gonna miss the star trash?

oh man namco..why =/
that sucks...but yeah i think we are gonna wait for sc5 so that namco can try new things on the psp before they did mistakes like Star wars charas and the clone boni charas lol..ive missed alot of things on scIV but im not really dissapointed...my luck that i have an psp ^^ but i dont really know if im gonna buy that game >_>
I hope we will see mor then only 1 new chara in scIV -.- i mean NEW CHARAS not Clones !

Lulz, I guess I'm being too optimistic about this. However, remembering what Namco did with T5DR I can't help but think they are going to pull the same stunt with this. Who knows? Only time will tell. I'll give this game a shot. I'm not going to buy it though (hacked PSP FTW).

But you guys gotta remember, Tekken 5 didnt originally come out on Ps3, so its not the same thing

Tekken 5 (PS2) --> Tekken 5:DR (PSP) --> Tekken 5:DR (PS3)

In a way, Tekken 5:DR IS Ps3's tekken 5, since they didnt have one originally

The same cannot be said for SoulCalibur IV, so i wouldnt put any money on them porting BD to ps3 or 360

WHERE YO CURLEY MOUSTACHE AT?!

CURLEY MOUSTACHE!

He's going to be top tier.

This just in! Snidely Whiplash/Waluigi/Dick Dastardly bastard clone announced for Soul Calibur! Where the hell is that new Viking character I was waiting for?

GODDAMN! I was just beginning to like Vader. I don't want Willy Wonka, give me the Sith Lord! Oh well, its not like i have to buy it.

Hey guys, is he wearing a one-piece?!?!?

What we need is a Soul Cal x Star Wars full crossover game. The thought of Tira as a Sith apprentice makes me drool.

Broken Destiny isn't a port, though; the Project Soul team has built this version specifically to target beginners and novice players with SCIV's content but has added improvements. There will be arcade, versus, and survival modes, as well as a character creation mode, but the only details disclosed at this point are that there will be new parts to play with in the creation mode and that the other modes have been "evolved." What we do know is that a new single-player mode is being implemented to bring new players up to speed and show them the intricacies of the game--almost like an enhanced tutorial system. It is designed to help improve your fighting skills, so newcomers who might be intimidated by the series can find a way to ease into an intense fighting regimen. There are more than 80 exercise missions for you to hone your fighting skills in.

Why do people think Namco will ever cater to hardcore players like us? Or any company for that matter. The competitive community, or frame counting maniacs as one review puts it, it really less than 1% of the market population. It doesn't make sense to spend money and time to fix something only a handful of players could even notice, much less appreciate, when the rest of the SC players want something else, like better single player mode (story, mission, cas etc). The thing is, SC is a mainstream game as far as fighting game goes, and has the pick up and play style that attract a lot of casual gamers, plus the b00bs go with it. Namco get most of their money from the average Joe, and doesn't need the support of hardcore community like this to survive. Heck, I bet Namco don't even know this place exist. It would have been different if SC was a niche game that only a handful of hardcore gamers play, but its not, no amount of complaining will change that.

Although some may be skeptical I think this is a positive thing. At the very least it shows that Namco is still aware that soul calibur exists. And this actually opens the door to some kind of patch because I don't think they're dumb enough enough to release this game with Hilde's doom combo being possible. If that's the case it's a pretty small step to make a patch for that for the console version. Obviously other changes would be great(and are possible) to but at the very least we can hope for that.

But honestly I don't think Namco completely ignores hardcore gamers. If they did what would be the point of releasing SC3 AE? I'm pretty sure casual gamers wouldn't care to buy the same game with little enhancements so who else are they targeting? We may not get a console version of broken destiny but I do think we will at least get the benefits of any rebalancing.

Namco get most of their money from the average Joe.

This is true, and I think this can be seen as a benefit to us. Soul Calibur IV sold really well and the reception was good (read: lots of average Joes liked it). Obviously putting out BD means they are willing to continue the series, and Bamco has nothing to lose by releasing this game and then either porting it to consoles or releasing a big expansion. There are plenty of casual players who would shell out a few bucks for a big upgrade to the game, and Bamco could re-balance things in the process because I think they are somewhat aware that the game is played at a high level.

I see this as being a much more likely scenario than just releasing a small balance patch, that is, if they do anything. If they release an expansion without fixing Doom combos and such, THEN you can say Bamco truly doesn't acknowledge us.

that guy looks like another talim or voldo style fighter.

but he looks like a pedo for sure. too bad for Amy.

now i'll have a reason to pick up my PSP again. yay ^_^

Exactly. This point has been accentuated with the StarWars crossover and the nails in the coffin were the pay DLC that was already on the disc. I'm not even counting the omitted Mission Mode (no, TolS is garbage stfu if you think otherwise) and the plethora of extras that were in SC1 that are nowhere in SC4 barring a lazy convoluted SC canonical timeline they had the audacity to relegate a separate menu for. I'm sick and tired of voicing my opinions to creators who don't listen or give a shit. I have religion for that, thank you very much.
