Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny-NEW GAME-

This release proves to me once again that Namco doesn't care about it's hardcore audience anymore. They will continue to cater to the casual people, releasing shitty games because its the quickest way for them to make a buck.

lol and make gimmicky chracters

Although some may be skeptical I think this is a positive thing. At the very least it shows that Namco is still aware that soul calibur exists. And this actually opens the door to some kind of patch because I don't think they're dumb enough enough to release this game with Hilde's doom combo being possible. If that's the case it's a pretty small step to make a patch for that for the console version. Obviously other changes would be great(and are possible) to but at the very least we can hope for that.

But honestly I don't think Namco completely ignores hardcore gamers. If they did what would be the point of releasing SC3 AE? I'm pretty sure casual gamers wouldn't care to buy the same game with little enhancements so who else are they targeting? We may not get a console version of broken destiny but I do think we will at least get the benefits of any rebalancing.

The reason for SC3 AE rebalance is because it is an arcade game. Arcade games in Japan do make some money (not enough for SC4 apparently) and regular arcade goer do care about balance. After all, the only objective in a arcade game is to beat your opponent by any means possible, with your money on the line. Things can go out of hand quickly if there is some seriously broken stuff, as you need to keep people playing to actually make a profit. Whereas for console, only thing it needs is to be attractive enough for people to buy the game, and enough satisfaction/hook to buy the next installment. It doesn't have to be deep enough to make people wanting to play more. Besides, SC3 AE isn't exactly balanced either (pretty far from it actually), its better than SC3...but thats really not saying much. It just to show Namco or Team Soul isn't very bright on the competitive side.

I'm sick and tired of voicing my opinions to creators who don't listen or give a shit. I have religion for that, thank you very much.

LOL

But you guys gotta remember, Tekken 5 didnt originally come out on Ps3, so its not the same thing

Tekken 5 (PS2) --> Tekken 5:DR (PSP) --> Tekken 5:DR (PS3)

In a way, Tekken 5:DR IS Ps3's tekken 5, since they didnt have one originally

The same cannot be said for SoulCalibur IV, so i wouldnt put any money on them porting BD to ps3 or 360

Those are just the home versions of T5. Every one of those versions originated in arcades first, where DR was just one of several underwhelming disc swaps that barely changed the game. Ever since Tekken 4 and Soul Calibur 2 on the System 246, Namco has been working in easily port-able engines for their fighting games so that it takes a minimum of effort for them to translate them to any capable platform. It's company policy for Namco fighters to be releasable on any platform as soon as they decide it would be profitable to publish it there. I would be SHOCKED if SCV eventually came around before they bothered to re-sell us this content on consoles. These are the people who once re-worked Mitsurugi into a blond guy named Arthur, just so they could sell SC1 to South Korea.

I really do think this is Namco's way of patching the game. They may sell it to us as an "all new" game rather than just giving it to us freely but it's still better than nothing. I'd pay 60 bucks for a balanced version.

Think about it for Namco they've made their money off SCIV so patching it would require them to spend money and make no profit. So what do they do, make a psp game with little effort, balance little things here and here and there and they've made another load of cash. Few months later release the new balancing to the console along with some tag team/ new survival mode and other junk that any casual gamer will eat up. Or better yet just make it a "new game" all together instead of letting people download it. But either way to a casual gamer a new game is more relevant than a patch so Namco isn't worried about not making money if the characters end up playing exactly the same on both versions. To a casual gamer extra modes is more important.

I cant wait for this...even though i dont own a psp i miiight have to rob some kid so i can play it

NH: In past Soul Caliburs, it was obvious that beginners couldn't easily get into the game because of the battle system's technical requirements (like guarding against high or low attacks). The team wanted to give everyone an equal chance, so that's why they created a mode where the beginners learn how to play and improve their game. The more they play, the more skills they achieve. That's the basic concept behind Broken Destiny.

i lol'd so hard.

lol i can imagine the conversation

"Hey Bob"
"Yeah Joe"
"Our fighting game is much to hard by making people guard against highs and lows"
"What forrizle?"
"Fo'Sho Lets make a new mode where people can yanno..practice"
"We have a training mode already"
"no this has to be different....lets call this Bitch mode"
"Oh em GEE that is such a good idea!"

and that gave birth to the new training mode
