Community Dying?

Unlike before.. there's also more communities with their own SC Forum they use..... back then people might have their own forums but they all stick to the 'main' one..

Community Dying?

Personally we are fine it is just a lul in SC4 time. Also their are alot of folks who play the game along with others like SF4 and T6, etc. Making a thread to see the vitality of the community only makes it look worse than it is. It has a similar effect to the "we should ban ... and why doesn't... and this player is so great" threads. I would close the thread because it isn't dieing its just a lull in time of majors and things are dying down due to finals and life, but that is my opinion.

Community Dying?

it's just cause there's school and finals going on right now noface i garente ill be at a tornament or a few during the summer just so yu can say you got your ass whooped by a 16 yr old that dosnt have a car yet :) i want car. Community Dying?

All I know is that things are alive and well where I am at.

I wouldn't use forum posts as a measure as to whether the community is dying. I am always checking the forum, but people just keep creating the same tired ass topics over and over again such as this topic which was discussed last month. Post some new shit.

As for people moving onto SF4, eventually those things happen because either they're not hardcore about SC4 and prefer to play something else, or they just suck at this game and rather move onto something else. I wouldn't waste my time worrying about them.

But don't worry, things should pick up once the summer comes around, so let's move on.

Community Dying?

I hope to God that we can keep it going but it seems that most interest is going to be gone after Nats and Evo. What's to keep people motivated then?
I think it's highly likely that Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny will get released as a downloadable add-on for SCIV after the PSP version comes out. That will surely get the community hyped up again.

Honestly I don't really understand people dropping this game for SF4. The games are almost nothing alike. It's hard to think of two fighting games with less in common than SC4 and SF4 (other than being "4" obviously). Personally I think SF4 sucks but that's just my opinion. :P I know I'll be playing KOF12 when that comes out on console, but I'll always be playing SC4 too.

edit: I like the topic name change, lol

The thread renaming tournaround clocked @ approx. 2hrs! Hella fast! Time Warner service isn't this efficient!

A lot of the old players may have stopped playing, but Soulcalibur IV has brought in a lot of younger people with its online play. The problem with this is that a lot of them lack transportation, places to host their own events, and actual time to get out to tourneys.

We need more people like you (assuming you actually are going to show up to a tournament). People who:

-Train hard (not necessarily 10 hours a day, just serious effort to get good at the game)

-Talk Trash (drama keeps things lively)

-Show up to tournaments (which you haven't done yet. Hopefully your word is good.)

-Type with CAPS (also keeps things lively)

edit: LOL at the the thread rename

double edit: LOL at the tags

It is inevitable to lose players as time passes on, particularly as other big name fighters come out. Heck, I just have to look at my friend list now, and the majority of them are playing far more SF4 than SC4. But... there is an increasing number of them coming back to SC4.

Broken Destiny is sure to bring back interest to the game among the less hardcore. Though if it remains PSP-only, then, it won't help the main community too much. But, still, its bound to bring in new players to the game. And if its training missions thing actually proves decent, then we might actually see more players who know what they are doing out there (though that's more likely only if SC5 eventually includes such a feature). I'm sure there will be plenty of information at E3 for us here.

As for Nats/Evo... there will always be more tournaments. Heck, have another nationals tournament, there doesn't have to be just one.

But, the hard core SC4 players will stay.

You also can't judge things by the amount of posting going on, as the majority of things about the game have already been discovered and talked about. Or, the questions that people have are already answered somewhere (assuming people search...)

How I loved street fighter till the spammers destroyed my love and made me regret buying the game from my child hood oh broken dream. Yeah when SF4 came out I was thinking oh I guess I'm pretty much done with soul calibur but hell no I just realized how much better it is. There is so much versatility to the game I mean stepping, guard impacts, just frames. That something street fighter doesnt have and will keep me playing this game, and SC4 is the first SC game I have played. I would like to enter some tournaments though I wouldnt know if there was any near me.

Community Dying?

The PSP game won't do anything for the competitive community unless Namco adds all of the content to the PS360 versions as well. I actually find that unlikely, because it's not econimcally sound to do so.

sure hope tekken 6 doesnt beat out soul cal.Soul cal is a muuuuuuch better game.

Seriously? Have you played BR? As far as I'm aware, Vegas only has T6 Vanilla. If you have played BR quite a bit and still believe SC4 is a better game than that's your opinion and that's fine, but I believe T6 BR (not T6 Vanilla, which I dislike) is a much better game than SC4... again, just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I like SC4 and I prefer it to just about any 2D fighter, but playing BR just makes SC4 look boring in comparison (imo). I'm not even motivated to play SC4 anymore. I force myself to get in games a few times a month so I'm not too rusty for DEVASTATION and Evo.

Granted, there isn't much local comp for me, which is a factor, but I still prefer Tekken to SC.

Funfact: My interest to the game was rekindled by getting my ass beat like a drum at a recent tournament.

In France, the game is far from dying ... next tournament is for the end of the month, and subscription were opened like 6 weeks in advance. In less than a week, 64 players already PAID (and not just "i'll be there for sure!") for theirs places, leaving several others in the dust.

Not dying =)

My crew still plays this regularly. We plan on going to the tourney's in Toronto whenever the next one happens, work schedules permitting.

We all bought SCIV, heck I even bought an arcade stick for it. I think we played for maybe a month before we got sick of it and came back to playing SCIV.

That game is just pure turtle bullshit. It's boring to us. Nowhere near as epic and exciting as Soul Calibur. Soul Calibur really is the better, more complex game and rewarding game. The problem is that Capcom has built a "better" franchise than Namco. Street Fighter is a household name. Also, SFIV has the better online support. If SCIV had a better online playability, I wouldn't ever take it out of my console.

What a waste of money. Oh well, at least I got a decent controller solution for my 360 with the arcade stick out of the deal.

I don't think anyone is debating whether or not SC4 is superior to SF4. Popularity does not directly equate to quality. The first new SF in 8 years is far more popular than Namco's regularly schedule Soul Calibur installments. Not to mention SC is essentially Namco's secondary series behind Tekken.

If the new SC:BD comes out as an add-on or whatever on the 360/PS3, or even just another balance patch, that would go a LONG way to giving players that wandered away a shot in the arm.
