Speculated Changes...

Gamestop has been livebroadcasting their show and they did a LONG interview with the lead dev for BD... and I gotta say... THIS GAME LOOKS HAWT! We were all in flashchat and this is what players commented on while watching...

1 - step definatley looks better; its beefed up and because of this, you may see less tracking verticals.

2 - raphael looks beefed up.

3 - cassandra looks toned down. I noticed she was doing moves, raphael would block them; the cassandra would eat the first hit, then block the second hit of the punish... possibly meaning that the first hit was free.

4 - hilde looks towned down... charges look slower.

5 - interconnectivity with the PS3 has remained an uncertainty.

6 - game goes multiplayer with Ad-Hoc, no words exactly on online.

ALL characters will be unlocked from day 1, no need to unlock stuff. Which may go to show that they are actually putting more effort into the competetive style of play. The interesting thing about this game, the lead dev said that he is working on this PSP version because they wouldn't let him work on the PS3 version. Why? This guy sounded pretty kick ass.

Siegy looked like he was doing some slower, GC version of 22B. Did a lot of gauge damage.

Throws broke mid armour.

Soul gauge started bright green instead of just green.

Also, best step in the demo goes to the Namco rep.

"Any movelist changes?"

"Kratos will have all of his GoW moves. He'll be fun to play."

:<

Jaxel, everything you said is pretty much useless. Hilde only did 3 charge moves, and half of another. Fc c1b, c1a, c1b and the first hit of c2a. How can you even say anything about them looking slower? It looked almost exactly the same... don't make shit up. The only difference I could really see was that she flashes a yellowish color now instead of the white/blue when she does a charge.

Raphael did shit except for some canned strings and 2A+B.
Step was just them 8wayrunning, no comment since it didn't really look all that much different
Cass no comment, but these were horrible people playing so who knows.

Yeah the Cass player was horrible. So many mistakes made... I'll have to rewatch it when its available for download.

these 2 things dont match

Of all the characters in the game you think Cass is the one that needs toning down? lol.

Anyway I saw nothing that swayed my opinion in either direction. Maybe if they had shown something that MATTERED.

100% agreed with Rigel. They did not show us anything when it comes to gameplay balancing, or things that matter to the tournament scene.

Plenty of people will throw out the argument that competitive gamers are like 1% of the audience, but HERE is the competitive scene. Why bother mentioning balance (which they did) if it doesn't matter to 99% of the market? What did they say that even matters to casual players? Kratos is here? Knew that. Won't have to unlock anyone? WHOOPIE!!! This coverage was useless.

Have they done anything to show that they cared about the tournament scene?

Why would they? Does it make them any more money?

But i do have to disagree with the statement about only 1% of the market caring about balance. Even if you are the other 99%, a casual gamer, even they read reviews and don't want to buy/play a broke ass game.

Question.

Can someone explain why do the same Namco that works on Soulcalibur and Tekken franchises (yes, I know they aren't the same developing team but they still work under Namco), constantly develops patches for Tekken but almost none for Soulcalibur.

Do the Tekken players have golden dicks or what?

It's the same premise. Why bother patching and upgrading when the hardcore crowd is the lower % of players and won't generate additional revenue. But they do patch Tekken constantly, what gives?

Why Tekken yes and Soulcalibur no?

Can someone explain that? I'm serious!!!

... and they add a few more characters and tweak the system with every reiteration, which makes the 'new' game desirable to play for everyone, casual and competitive players alike.

They dont patch tekken they just make a new game and sell it again.

Well...

Tekken 5 had 5.0, 5.1 and DR.

Tekken 6 had many versions before going with the A89 which was the international version, and then they patched it some more.

Then T6 BR came...I'm not sure but I think they patched it too but don't take my word on that one.

The Tekken team does work, why can't Soulcalibur do the same?

Tekken's huge worldwide following = more funding for Tekken.

Soul Calibur, on the other hand...

How much money does tekken make? How much does calibur make? You have your answer.
