DEVASTATION 2009 Results

SC4 can't die as long as we keep getting these hype matchups and now we just got another one- Vicious vs Belial ;]
I never really enjoy these talks about when the games I like are 'dead', but honestly I don't really care since all the players I want to continue playing SC4 are continuing to play SC4. We can argue about the turnout for majors and such but I don't forget that theres still casuals going on all over the country. Some of us just enjoy playing SC4 because it's a fun game to play, and it doesn't have to be a tournament.

hype what match? me vs some scrub lol. play even a mediocre hilde or algol and you'll see how fun the game really is, even in casuals. I wish people would play just for fun, but they have the same view that i have.

Yeah I know, and I'm inclined to agree with what you've said earlier that Hilde and Algol are really a big reason some people are getting turned off to the game/competing. I just think it's not specifically turning them off to playing the game, but maybe just to competing in large tournaments or traveling to prove something when they expect to get rung out 6 times and go home. I get it. Still, I think a fair amount of people have stuck around and played in their communities because the game is quite enjoyable playing in their local scene, which still makes up what I think the core 'life' is for a game. I mean you can play a few tournaments here and there in a year, but the game doesn't feel dead to me until you just can't find people to chill out and play the game with every week/few weeks. The amount of gaming that goes on at tournaments is a relatively small piece of the pie imo.

Edit: ICE if I make it to evo, which I might, I'm always down for games with you- in other words, FT5 for $20 sounds fine to me if im there ;]

i play pad, unless i'm using Yoshi, which is rare.

but seriously...OMFG so much eye candy!!! thanks to everyone for coming out to this tournament. I didn't break a single controller (what a surprised LMFAO). but I did pretend i was playing madden IRL with my controller (30 yard pass to the snk area, to absolutely no one).

u guys got some serious game/skill (or maybe i should stop playing SC3: E.E). but imo, the name of the real game...is having fun. AND I DID!!!

I meant to post this yesterday and I forgot... But here goes (in response to the above):

I was on the phone w/ EP around the time this was posted and he says he'll put money on the Top 5 from TiT vs the Top 5 from Devastation in a 5 v 5 at EVO.

Now I realize that 2 people tie for 5th so we would have to pick 1 obviously... And if one of the top 5 didn't go to Evo we would start filling slots from the highest placers from each event who will be @ Evo... The TiT Full results are up so you know what we are working w/... When you get those Devastation results up let us know.

Now... just like in court... I will allow u to take the plea bargain and admit the obvious result based on comparison of top placers... Otherwise, It can just be played out and the truth be exposed live and in person.

What about my statement displeased you or EP? I deliberately went out of my way to keep things equal and not disrespect any of the players at TiT or DEV, especially since I haven't seen hardly any of the people at TiT play in person. It's simply not my place to say who's better, so I didn't.

My one and only point was the number of players, not the quality. If you get an 8 man tournament, but it's all top players, it was still an 8 man tournament. It might be a really good 8 man tournament, but with SC4 getting 20-man turnouts, it doesn't make me want to travel for the game.

Unlike some of the new players who only talk about having fun in your local community, I'm all about the competition. If I can't travel for a nice sized tournament, there's no point in playing the game. Especially when I have BlazBlue and T6 BR readily available in my city, with a lot more comp both locally and at tournaments.

So please get off your high horse. I'm not disrespecting TiT or any of it's players and I see no need for a 5v5. I would've gone to TiT8 had I not quit the game. I wouldn't even be going to EVO if the DEV crew didn't insist that I accompany them. There's nothing there I want to play.

You say you are about competition... I offered you a challenge... Plain and Simple...

I did NOT disrespect the players @ Devastation (props to Vicious... Super cool guy by the way) or the event itself (which by the way was by far probably the best of the year in my mind overall) or you (ur cool in my book as well)... All I did was agree with an earlier statement (made by the King of Pop) which was "The comp @ TiT for SC was better"... Which I still believe to be true.

If you think by offering a challenge we are "on a high horse" then I think you, my friend, have a distorted view of what competition is.

If you wanna compete then let's COMPETE (and if you wanna just go ahead and admit the truth you can do that too ;-))... And in the end, regardless of who gets exposed we can still be friends <3

Now... all that being said... Do you wanna get exposed or not? :-)

What you mean no good players were there? Salmon, myself, Ryujin, Drdogg, etc were there. (Even though Drdogg was rusty as hell and was running the event the whole time, so of course he played like he did)

Vicious was just the better player that day. Almost like you are discrediting his win and the other players that were there.
