No way we're going to complain. Pool C is the manliest thing at EVO, we're just going to duke it out!
 
I'm not in this tourney and now i'm glad, cuz it sounds like it's gonna be a REALLY short ride for some people. From 159 people down to 8 in 3 hours by taking just the top 2 in each 40 man pool? Please tell me that the pools are at least double elimination and not single? If it's not double elim, how are you getting your money's worth for that? I know this is the biggest and supposedly best fighting game tourney in the US and all but at least take the time to make the experience just as grand for the competitors. Well at least there's still the BYOC room and numerous money matches to be hyped about.

Unfortunetly not yet. Our briefing is on Thursday night at 9pm. I will let everyone know any oddities as soon as I can. I fo course, hope there are none :)

I have enough faith in the EVO staff that pools will NOT be single elimination bracket.

Lets see if my faith in them is rewarded, or this ends up like my faith in (something offensive that you care about here)

The tournament is still Double Elimination. You have to look at it like different brackets instead of pool.

4 people in winners, and 4 people in losers when the top 8 rolls around.
 
In running a normal tourney, I can whittle down a bracket of 64 in about 2.5 hrs, so this is not a stretch of the imagination (there will be 1 guy running each pool). I don't think we should judge anything until we know the facts.

On a more positive note, I cannot wait to get mad casuals in with everyone, even though everyone will sandbag... it will be good to shake the rust off just in time for tourney :)

As a random observer living vicariously through others I think it would be neat to see a listing of the characters each player in the list is using. :)
