Wow Hilde loses again. Now I think you've really got to look at how people are playing her, maybe they're trying to do too much? Or too little? With the tools she has, I'm just not seeing how she's not placing top 3. I wasn't able to watch the stream though, if I can watch that anywhere else maybe I can see what happened.

Sagat didn't place top 8 at Evo either, I know we don't play the game on paper but what are the odds, really?

A few missed combos on the Hilde player's part and otherwise careful play on the opponent's part was usually how it went down.

I figured as much, I know missed combos are a part of the game, but when you have to more or less rely on her dropping her combo to win? I'll take a look at it before I pass judgement, I've already seen what happened when KDZ played an aggressive Cass against her, it was effective for the most part but one sidestep into doom was all it took, so long as the combo was landed. And when it wasn't.......

So funny how people are like, "Let's see what happens when X play Y in a money match." after a tournament. Who cares?

When the "tournament" is over, there is only one person who is number one at that time.

Swoosie and myself were doing commentary. Let's just say that place was going nuts.

It might be the whole "soft ban" effect.
The reason why players on top don't play the best is because they believe in sticking to their characters, and not on their tiers. At the same time, they know who are the best in the tiers and put a lot of time into anti-toptier character matchups.

Damien, you beautiful sonavabitch!! Damn, im proud of you homie, congrats, beer and burgers from The Counter on me when yo ass gets back to chicago!!..... on second thought, those burgers aint cheap, pay yo own way haha! Hit me up when you get back in chicago

Pretty bad beatdown by Thugish in the GFs.

To be fair to Kura, I don't think either of his mains has the easiest time against Amy. And I'm pretty sure the nerves got to him. I think it was mainly that Auto-GI RO at the end of the first set that did him in. :P

Amy is that type of beast, if you can't maintain solid play throughout a marathon fight she will wear you down, she has too much shit.

Why are we talking about What If's between players? I'm not going to lie, at least we aren't blaming characters here, but its completely unnecessary.

And congratulations to all placers, and a wooping WOAAAAHHH to Thugish Pond for bringing it all home. Good man!

And also a shout out to local Something Unique for placing top 4. Hell YEAH, man!

well...

Regardless

congrats on the placers! cg to thugish for winning. And to everyone else, i'm glad i was able to catch some of the live stream....was too busy packing. *kicks himself for not going*

Kura losing so badly probably has more to do with absolutely no one in Korea using amy rather than the characters he used

I'm glad the champ is from the USA though. :)

Congratulations to Kura, you really are a champion to use Talim at such a high standard.

Congrats to Thugish as well, you've always been a champion.

People keep saying a Hilde C3A into C3B is a missed Hilde combo, when in all honesty it isnt. It means thats C3A and C3B were both full, an the Hilde had to use a massive dose of psychic power to secretly drop the B charge, charge it for exactly 1 second and hit the C3A.

C2B happens between 2-3 seconds of charge. Too little and C1B comes out. Too much and C3B causes what you guys call a dropped combo. It just so happens that the string C3B (blocked), C3A (hit) perfectly times this ridiculous shit on its own. I dont know about other players, but I keep track of the opposing Hilde's various charge timers while fighting her. You can get more aggressive against Hilde when you know both are charged, without fear of a radom C3A ringout.

Give these Hilde players more credit for repeat top 8's at two really strong events.
