Maxi General Discussion

escape psls, by which i assume you mean psl4/5, pretty much always suck vs everyone. They are way to risky and give you basically no advantage what-so-ever even if you do avoid their attack.
 
Those PSL jumps to the side are largely useless from my experience :/ even when u dodge you get nothing. Might save you from some damage from time to time, but not worth it

The only time I've ever gotten anything off psl4/5 is catching someone who's trying to step some part of a PSL string. (That's been useful to me twice so far...)

Also can work on wakeup if you anticipate a roll, but that's mad inefficient.
 
I seem to get a lot of reward of them when they end up in RO personally I love them they are good when you yomi stuff
 
3A+K~44B.....tech trap...anyone anyone. I think zombiebear dabbled in this a little. It has worked to the right and left but not backwards.

anyone have luck doing that shit?

It is the best option after it until they notice that immidiate 2/8g avoids it. Most of my opponents just get up and block it, but im happy enough for the soul gauge damage.
 
Question for the Maxi folks out here: how do you guys feel about 4B [G] in this game? That used to be a staple of my Maxi game in SC2 and SC3 when that single 4B into guard was fast and safe but what about in this game? That cancel is unsafe in this game but because of the threat of 4BB, 4B[G] IMO still seems viable as a good range mid poke. What do you guys think? Of course the pokes of choice for Maxi would be 1B or 3K but range becomes an issue with those moves, whereas 4B has excellent reach. I used to like 3A in SC2/SC3 (now 3A [G] in SC4) but that attack also seems to have been screwed in terms of frames. 3A[G] in this game doesn't seen to give anywhere near the same amount of advantage that it did before on hit.

4B has all its tricks & traps to enforce it, decent range, and tracking on Maxi's strong side. Still... I don't think much of it as a mid-range poke. 2B and 33K fill that niche a bit better. (I'll lay out some reasoning for this if you're interested.)

3Ag is the most reliable way catch weak side movement. It sucks, but it's all we got!

4Bg is a staple of mine now. You cant ask me NOT to do it. I hate where 4BB leaves you so I wont use it. I use 4Bg to get into LI mix ups (rather thats good or bad I dont know, but has worked well for me). But I feel almost compelled to do something else. to use it as a mid range poke....I just dont like it. I cant get into using that way. Ill use 3K for my mid range poke. But 4Bg for my mix up game.

I used to love 3A. but only for the CH stun that it gives. But alas, CH 3A is shakable. I used to play what I call a "flashy" maxi. I wanted to do all the flashy combos that lead to big damage. Only to find out that you get ur ass kicked much more playing that way. CH 3A, BL A, LI K, B+K BBBA JF....ahhhhhh thats so satisfying!! But like everything else with maxi, the risk to get that CH3A is seldom worth it!! Its for sure not worth it against another good maxi player. Shit even HRJ shakes CH 3A.

Ever since I played you Krayzie those few rounds. I picked up so much shit. 33A~A+Bg, 1B, 3K. You were just moving around the stage, poking me to death. Well I took that shit and used it it my own game now, and has opened up so many doors. I can catch step now with 33K, get into little mix up games with 33A, 1B gets me out of so many jams. Like knocking raph out of prep (at least online that works so long as you catch it early). I need more KrayzieCD!! Think ur bro would be cool with shootin me a friend request. Id drop what Im doin to get some rounds in. I know its online, but I really have to twist HRJ's arm to even play SC4 with me now. I think hes over it!! I set up offline casuals but no one shows, Im beating me head agaisnt a wall here!!

to be honest ive never tried it but if 4B PSL 1 LI (B) can work im sure 4B g can work

guys im messing with 44AB again, and its completely hitcheckable which is nice because of its super evasive hitbox and great CH damage anyone else do anything with this move?

also I hate 3A out of all of maxis bad moves that ones the worst

44aB from crouch is pretty good. I like 2B_1K(something that leaves you in crouch), 44aB. But on block ur eating fat punishment.

thats the cool thing about hitchecking it

44A isnt that unsafe and the B keeps you from being punished
 
I couldn't ever find any way to justify its use, but if 44A can be hit confirmed I'll look into it again. Are you sure you are doing it on reaction and not just figuring it out by reading the situation?

when you hit confirm you should do both read the situation and react to if it hits or not, at least thats how its done in melty
when i hitconfirm it i do both and it works out although you arent gonna be able to do it online, timings pretty tight
 
Eh, well I certainly can't hit confirm against random guard. Seems like the input window for the B ends either before or just as 44A connects. Pretty bummed about that, but I'm now included in HRD's Maxi club so it kinda balances out.
